Good afternoon, everyone! So my surgery is scheduled for this Friday, December 23, at 7:15 am. Yes, I have to be up bright and early for my surgery! My darling husband was supposed to have the day off to be at the hospital with me. However, due to some unfortunate circumstances at work that I won't even get into, he now has to go in that morning. He's upset, and I'm a little nervous. My mom will be there, so I won't be alone. But here's my question: How long did it take most of you from being wheeled back to waking up? Wondering if he might get there before I'm even awake.

I received the results from my stress test a few hours ago....Results: (abnormal) I'm VERY disappointed....I even shed a few tears....BUT, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all the members...you have uplifted me and let me know...I'm not the only one and because the results were abnormal does not mean I won't have the gastric sleeve surgery that I really need. I was on a flight back to Michigan when I received my results...I'm back home now drowning my sorrows at Longhorn Steakhouse with a "perfect margarita"???? & Protein (Ribeye)...Life is Good, Amen! This is kind of a spin off from @@hdsjourney topic. What did you guys put in your fridge/ groceries did you buy for your post op clear liquid/ full liquid phases? I want to be prepared but know my appetite/cravings/taste buds might change dramatically. I've gotten bouillon cubes and sugar free popsicles so far. Plan on getting clear Protein powder and an assortment of Protein drinks to try when I get back so I know what to stock up on.

I had another person tell me I shouldn't get surgery because I'll die...my stomach will burst and that I should get the Lap Band (which has been proven to cause serious health issues). Someone she knew passed from getting gastric bypass and that I should get another procedure, which Medicaid doesn't cover. Nope! Will get sleeved regardless of what anyone says. This is the umpteenth time someone has come at me like this. And this "friend" doesn't realize that I'm one step away from being done with the pre-surgery process (2nd cardiac clearance since I didn't pass the first one0 I knew this would happen. Once again, a Negative Nellie attempting to steer me away from my …

I've decided to have my gastric sleeve surgery done in MX but I'm scared about afterwards. In the US, there is usually a team of people who continue to help you throughout you post op experience. Will US doctors still help you after you've had surgery in the US? Are there any books or websites that can be helpful during this time? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi everyone, I'm new to this and also super nervous about my surgery tomorrow. My husband and I are both having the sleeve on the same day and though he has been such an inspiration to me, he is going in first and I am terrified of going in alone. I know deep down that everything will be fine, I'm still really scared. I know once they're wheeling me in, I'll snap into "get it done" mode. I'm in limbo now though. Any thoughts or words of wisdom? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Good Evening all, I was told on Wednesday evening i am to have my sleeve on the 3rd of January, this caught me completely cold as ive been waiting that long. I immediately started my pre op diet and in 4 days have lost 7 pounds which is crazy. Obviously we have Christmas coming up and well...my 30th birthday (new years eve). Now I get the deal with alcohol but how long before surgery should i stop ? For the record i haven't had a drop for 7 days now but i wouldn't mind a couple of drinks at Christmas and here or there, not so bothered about my birthday as i appreciate its very close to my op day....would this be an issue ? I wouldn't drink 8 days before surgery howeve…

Hi all . This is my first post on this site and hopefully not my last. My Bariatric sleeve Surgery is Wednesday so I'm a little anxious but not yet nervous. I'm considering it the first day of my transformation. I started at 281 lost 21 lbs on my program so far. Looking forward to a successful transition. The only thing that scares me is the hernia surgery. Has anyone had any problems with it after surgery? If so how have u handled it? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

I just had my final appointment and am now waiting for my approval from my Cigna insurance... sounds like I will have surgery in January! I have been very quiet about the process and only my husband and sister know. I really don't want to advertise that I'm having surgery but also don't want to lie about it. I'm having trouble decoding if i want to tell people about it... what are you experiences, has anyone kept this a secret. What are your experiences telling people good and bad? I was wondering what kind of support your friends and family gave you when you decided to have the surgery done? My mom and my 3 oldest sons and a friend of mine aren't very supportive of me getting this done. They say things like, You don't need the surgery it's not a quick fix you know or why do you have to do that to your body. And that is starting to make me think that I'm not doing the right thing for myself but deep down I know I am. Just wondering. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Since I found out that I for sure would be getting sleeved, I have been getting cravings like crazy and binging really bad. Did anyone else do this before surgery ? Hello..again lol. I'm in the pre surgery process wirh Dr. Roshek of the Nicholson Clinic and have met all requirements that the surgeons office has asked of me and my insurance requirements as well. That was a week ago. This is not restricted to just the nicholson patients. Everyone is welcomed to reply. I'm just trying to get a better understanding on how all of this works and what time frame I should …

My surgery was scheduled for the 19th. I started my preop liquid diet the 9th. Yesterday the surgeon (yes the surgeon himself actually called me) and told me we have to reschedule for the 22nd. We live 3 hours away from the surgery center and already made reservations, took the pets to a boarding place, took vacations, rearranged everyone's Christmas plans. I know it is a small bump in this long process and it will happen but just disappointed. Add 20 below zero temps outside, vehicles won't start, frozen Water to the mix..thanks for letting me vent... Hello! So, if you've happened upon a post I've made before, I've made it no secret I'm a kidney transplant patient. It's the main reason I'm both pursuing and fretting the sleeve. On one hand, I need, need, need to lose weight to give this little bean the best possible circumstances it can have but I also have concerns regarding meds and fluids, but many people have reassured me in the department. So my next, well hurdle if you can call it that, is my doctor. Let me give a little background. I'm 19 years old. I've been going to this particular nephrology practice (at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO for those curious for whatever reason) since I move…

Good morning, everyone! So, Tuesday I went and picked up my CPAP machine. Apparently, my sleep study determined that I have severe sleep apnea. The lady who helped me let me choose the kind of mask to get... She didn't offer any advice or anything. So I chose the nasal mask, it just sits right under your nose. (But it's not the one that inserts into your nose) Anywho... I hate it. I can't freaking stand it. The first night, I couldn't fall asleep. Took it off. Second night, I kept waking up. Finally took it off at 4:30am, just before we got up. Happened again last night, too. So, I guess I'm asking if anyone has advice? What mask do you use? Did it take a long time…

I've been on a liquid pre-op diet consisting of two Protein shakes, tons of Water and then a lean low fat dinner. My surgery is on Tuesday but my god does my head hurt. I've been getting these nasty migraines which I've never really had before. My fiancé says it's from lack of water but there's no way. I've never had so much water in my life. Anyway, I have no idea what I'm allowed to take and not allowed to take for my head. I usually take excedrin but I'm terrified to take anything at the risk of postponing my surgery. Advice? I had my EGD yesterday and had a biopsy on a couple of polyps. I was told that I would have a sore throat (which I did) but I was not told anything about stomach pain. It comes and goes and almost feels like bad hunger pains. Even if I eat something, I still get them. I had a horrible sore throat yesterday along with a bad headache. I tried to sleep it off, but woke up at 2 in the morning and I couldn't take it anymore. I ended up taking 600mg of Ibuprofen since I didn't have Tylenol. Woke up and my throat and head feel better but my stomach still gets random pains. Is this normal? Thought I'd ask here before calling the doctor. Thanks Sent from my SM-N920T us…

Any info on your process with insurance is great I have emblem health so went with that but if you are in NY and have insurance please list your requirements and process since the day you first started. Hi, I'm new here and I have read a few boards and I see everyone is beyond helpful in some way. I'm 25 years old and live in Westchester, NY. I went for my seminar December 10, 2014 And have my first appointment with the surgeon January 23☺️was wondering for those in NY with emblem health how long after your first appointment did you get a date? What are the pre surgical requirements that need to be completed beforehand? Thanks so much!!

I'm starting this journey over after my husband talked me out of it last spring & today is my first consult for the second time! I'm meeting the Dr, nutritionist & my Patient Advocate today. I'm a bit nervous to be going alone. I didn't tell my husband I was doing this until today when I sent him an email while he was at work. I know kinda shitty, but he would have gone off on me about it & not listened to my reasons for wanting to at least going to talk to them again. Well I have to get going. Wish me luck! Hello everyone, Im almost done with the process of getting surgery. I don't know which one I should do. Its between the gastric bypass and the gastric sleeve. I want something that will help me long term , that will help me for a long time. I'm 27 years old. I heard the sleeve could get stretched out. I just want some advice or what which one would pick?
