I think I need to realize that a lot of you been working on this for months, I literally woke up one day called the doctor and scheduled a appointment last month.... I've wanted to do this for years but held off because of my parents and finally at the age of 35! I decided I have to do what's best for me. Now I'm sitting here like a groupie looking at before and after pics to see results. P.S. Take some pictures! Don't wait until you lose the weight take those good BYE Fat pics!!! I know I did

Hello, I am just starting my process to hopefully be sleeved. Thursday (12/8) I met with the nutritionist and health psychologist, and on Thursday (12/15) I will be meeting with the surgeon. Is there anything I should be sure to ask the dr? Any advice? I have already changed my diet, I am also looking for advice on a good Meal Replacement Protein shake. Today I am on day 11 out of 14 of my pre-op liquid diet. I have my surgery on Monday 12/12/16, and I know I am almost there, but today has been a hard day for me. Overall, I feel I have really done well on this liquid diet. I haven't cheated, I have been following my Doctors recommendations and meeting all my Protein and Water requirements, and after the first few days I haven't really had any cravings either. It has been really surprising to me how much I have been able to really stick with this and trust the process. The one thing I didn't really think about or prepare myself for was the emotional side of this process during the pre-op diet. I have had some emo…

Hi all- Today is day 4 of 14 day liquid preop. I fainted this morning in my kitchen. Feeling better now that I have a protein shake in me. Anyone else ever experienced it and how did you combat it? I'm thinking getting up in the middle of the night for a few sips of protein might help. Any thoughts? (And yes, I put in a call to the nutritionist and am awaiting her response to see if I can adjust this at all, but she isn't in until 10am and I passed out at 6:30am so just trying to get any advice I can before she calls back). I am officially a GLAMma My first granddaughter was born December 5th. My first couple of visits with my surgeon weren't that great. He put me on a Protein shake raw vegetable diet. The first month was good the second month in I was getting nauseous so I added fish and Chik'n (vegetarian chicken) to my diet. Invested in a fit bit which has came in handy. Lost 16 lbs so Far. I have my Pre op meeting on the 13th Meet with the surgeon on the 14th My surgery date Jan 24. He decided the sleeve which is what I wan…

I'm three days into my preop diet on Optifast and I'm hating life right about now. I can't stomach the shakes as I did a month of a shake diet a while back and now the smell makes me gag. I'm living off optifast Desserts and bars as I don't like the Soups either. I'm having a bit of diet jelly in between but I am struggling. It's not even about the how little I'm eating but more about the cravings for normal food. I'm grumpy all the time and don't know how to snap out of it. I guess I didn't realise how badly I was addicted to food and how much life revolved around it. Surgery is booked December 22nd which I'm going to need my positivity to get through Christmas and new…

Day six of preop diet. It's been a rough week. We are allowed 4 diabetic boost and 2 cups of certain vegetables a day. Today I had a cabbage steak, mushrooms and onions. I did drizzle about 1 tsp of Olive oil on my cabbage while it was cooking. Hope that didn't screw things up. Do you think? Sent from my LG-H831 using the BariatricPal App

On the liquid diet I have lost 6.5 pounds in 4 days, I know some of you have probably lost way more but on account I've been the same weight since August 2015, yes thats the correct year lol been the same weight for over a year, ive managed to only fluctuate by like 2 pounds but not actually keep losing so I'm so happy to see what the next 10 days bring and then also after surgery liquid diet sucks for sure, you may of seen the post i posted before about it but I'm beginning to see how beneficial it is not just to shrink liver but its teaching me I'm more head hungry then actually hungry! before I just ate cause I saw it and would think to myself I like how that item tas…

Hi guys--my name is Amanda. I'm 29 and it's been a long road to this point. I've battled my weight my whole life, and finally i'm here. My bypass is scheduled for this Saturday, December 10th. I'm super excited for the journey ahead, but since it's getting so close i'm feeling scared at the same time--just basically the fact that i have to have surgery...haha. Did you guys feel the same way before you had yours? I've read some posts here that kind of make me feel like i'm not the only one. AND...i'm on my pre-op liquid diet...which for me is only protein shakes, broth and clear liquids...and i'm STARVING!! It'll be worth it, i know. Thanks for listening & i wish…

Hey guys, I'm having a real problem sticking with the pre-op liquid diet. My surgery is next week and I'm having a really hard time not eating. I feel like I'm doing this wrong. I last all day on a couple Protein shakes and Water and one serving of broth. Then I get home and I am starving, sick of protein, and wanting to eat. So I end up having some cheese or yogurt or crackers. Anyone have any tips on stopping this cycle? I'm really worried about not making weight for my surgery. Help! My Surgery is November 16th. I am currently take a multi-Vitamin, but I was thinking of starting the Vitamin Patches. I have a blood test a few days before the surgery and wanted to see where my blood work stood at that time. Also, do you think I could start the Patches sooner than the two week wait period following surgery? I really just don't want to deal with pills or liquid Vitamins. I asked a weigh-in nurse about patches and she wasn't really knowledgeable about them. I will follow up with my Surgeon at next visit with more questions.

Hey everyone! I am in day 3 of my preop diet and I really thought I was going to struggle with it. On my preop diet I am aloud 3 Protein shakes and 1 meal. First day was horrible, second day less horrible, and today I realized I can do this. I had nerves about being able to change the way I eat after surgery and doing the preop diet. This morning my husband made pancakes for Breakfast and I was fine sitting there having my shake. Today was a day I realized that I can do this. Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App

I've been waiting for the surgery for a year and a half. My Insurance covers the surgery 100% (thanks be to God). My starting weight was 298 and now it is 259. I'm currently going through Stage 2. I passed my Physical Therapy piece, I'm awaiting lab work and in the am I have my Endoscopy. I have a follow up appointment 12.29.16 so I'm just remaining calm until then. So I'm 2 months out and was at 265, with a total of 59 lbs lost since surgery and 107 total. This was my weight on Sunday. Today I weighed myself because I've been feeling a little swollen and was up 3.5lbs. I'm eating like I have been and drinking lots of water. I haven't worked out in a week. Is this a cause for concern? Is it normal? Should I call my Dr? I can't possibly be eating enough to gain real weight, I'm at about 550,600 calories a day.

I saw the psychologist today and have been cleared for surgery. Next step is to hear from the nurse regarding testing I'll have to do, and once I get the results back from that (about a week), they'll schedule me an appointment to set my surgery date! They said surgeries are scheduled about 3 weeks out at the moment, so that means I'm 6 weeks away or so, depending on how fast I get all of my testing done. I couldn't be more excited. I wasn't sure about this for a while, I started this process back in February. But after my boyfriend dumped me due to his severe depression, and realizing how much he dragged me down into depression with him, I have been feeling much bette…

No alarm necessary today. My anxious mind woke up at 3am with anticipation of this surgery day. No thoughts really, just visions of closing my eyes on the operating table and opening them in a foreign room, foreign country... what am I thinking? How irresponsible my mom would think I was, my friends would think it's superficial, my husband thinks of the cost... And as I sit here in the airport, staring at gate H7, I reflect on those thoughts and have 2 hours of alone time before boarding my flight. What is this small town girl thinking? I'm flying to freaking Mexico for a surgery I scheduled and planned less than two weeks ago. That's how I roll... too much planning mak…
