I was just accepted in my Kaiser's bariatric program and it sounds similar to yours...I am just signing up for the Weight Management classes and getting my sleep study scheduled. When did you start the process? I'm trying to figure out how long all these steps will take before I get to the actual surgery!

I had it done at Kaiser West LA! The process is fairly on par with Kaiser's pace. I finished my classes Oct. 10th, had my last drs appt (before the surgeon) on Oct 17th, my surgeon appt was Oct 31st and my original surgery date was scheduled Nov 4th, due to a long story (nothing at fault on my end) I was rescheduled to Nov 30th and I am a week post op :)! Hope that kinda helps!

Hopefully I can help, I went to Kaiser Panorama City, had my surgery in West LA.

Met with my PCP, said I want to look into getting the surgery, she then referred me to the bariatric program: May 10th

Was contact by the guy who schedules the classes in mid may to book my overview.

Initial Options program overview: June 6th

(This is where I signed up for my classes)

Options class began: July 11th

Mid point appt: Aug 17, I got all my labs, EKG and other test done this day as well, I was there forever!

Because my class was on mondays, due to the Labor Day holiday it was 13 weeks (not 12) because we didn't have class. I also missed aclass (so I had to make up one) so I didn't officially end class till Oct 10th (my official class end was scheduled to end Oct 3).

Final Appt with Bariatric Dr: Oct 17 (this is so I could get REFERRED to the surgeon)

Surgeon Appt: Oct 31

First Surgery schedule: Nov 4th but due to a scheduling mishap (ughhhh) it was rescheduled to Nov 30th

I am officially a week post op :)!

Note: I didn't have to see a psych or do a sleep test.

Hope that helps shed a little light! It sounds long but really flew by!

Thank you. That does help me. It gives me an idea of the time frame. I'm so anxious on knowing the date. So I can plan everything out. I have 2 young daughter's and home school my oldest.

I started my whole process in june. Forgive me on not knowing some of the exact date's.

Late june I started doing research and finally got an appointment with my primary doctor late june. She than started my referal. On july 18 th I believe I had my orientation. I started my option classes july 28th. 12 week's course. I had missed 2 classes and it set me bavk due to family matters. My last day was oct 25.( Did all my labs etc aug 19th

)Almost 2 weeks later they called me and set an appointment with dr provonsha to go over all my labs etc. That day recieved a call to have my mandatory support group class and therapy appointment scheduled. December 8th is my support group and december 15th is my therapy appointment. Hoping all goe's well and soon will have my appointment with the surgeon soon. It is just killing me on how vlose I am lol!

That's awesome! You're so close to the finish line! It'll happen before you know it! I guess some Kaiser's are different because mine didn't require a support group visit, although it was heavily advertised as an option after surgery.

And thank you! The first week is rough, but I feel exponentially better every day. Today is the first day I was able to get up on my own and it's only a week after surgery. I thought I was going to be down and out for weeks because how major of a surgery it is, but I'm walking fine and had very little to no pain by the 6th day, today is my 8th day recovery and my tummy is only slightly sore, so yay!

That is awesome. I'm so glad you replied back. I'm getting very excited and now have an idea of a time frame. I hope you continue to recover smoothly and get back to your normal routine. I will post soon on my surgery date and plan to use this app as a support group. Have a wonderful day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
