I've found a doctor but he will not see me until I've completed a long checklist. I've done almost everything on that list including a 6 month weight loss program. Last day of that program is 1/25/17. I need to go my mental evaluation and I will be ready to see the doctor. I started this journey at 412lbs. I weighed in today and I'm down to 365lbs. It could have been more but the last month and a half my weight loss plateaued. I neither gained or lost. I see it as a accomplishment to maintain. Any advice on what more can I do?? Went to see my doctor yesterday lost 8 lbs Surgery date is Jan 24. Go to PreOp appointment on Monday the 16th nervous and anxious at the same time. At the PreOp class one main question I had put me at ease. The procedure is 2 hours as long there aren't any issues. Which I pray it isn't. Have to put into my mind no matter how sore I am Walk walk walk after surgery. Really worried I have to walk up steps to get to my apartment. Going to look into a recliner so I can be comfortable. Any more advice I need to know would be most appreciated Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am now 2 weeks tomorrow from surgery. To look back on your out of the hospital post op days.... is there something you wish you would have had but didn't at home to prepare for the next few days post op? I've got a large blender and I'm already dreading and complaining of not having enough kitchen counter space to leave it out on a daily basis for the puréed days. Does a hand held small wand type blender work good enough? Prob not on meats I assume. I don't wanna buy one and never use it. Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi guys, I'm feeling extremely guilty. I started my pre op liver shrinking diet on Dec 26th. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 16th. I have lost the recommended weight that my surgeon wanted me to within the first 2 weeks. So I cheated this past weekend. And I feel awful about it. Just needed somewhere to vent to. When I talk to my husband about it. He tells me thst it'd ok. Just get back on the wagon. :/

So I had to change my surgeon a few times due to insurance and coverage. I've finally found "the one". We submitted to insurance this week and are supposed to know if it was accepted in 7 days. I have Blue Cross Anthem PPO inaurance. My only worry is that the girl at this office mentioned there also needed to be 6 months worth of doctor monitored diet? None of my previous sergeons offices mentioned this. I hope I don't get denied because of that. Anyone else have to do that? Sent from my LG-K550 using the BariatricPal App

On Friday I will know if my insurance has approved my surgery! I am so nervous about this. I hope it's approved. I also have to do another sleep study per my pcp so that I can get the right cpap machine. I meet with my surgeon for clearance on the 24th! I will be on a month pre - op diet. Surgery is scheduled for February 20th. I am so excited and nervous. There are moments where I am a little scared as well. Overall the time is coming up soon and I am ready for the rebirth of me! After 9 long months of working through insurance hurdles and pre-op testing and classes and lots of waiting I am finally scheduled for surgery on Jan 25. But then last night I was overcome with fear and was considering backing out. What the heck!?! Anyone else have this last minute fear? I've read that it's common to have buyers remorse right after surgery but no one ever talks about it before... I really am excited about starting my journey but I also can't shake the fear. I must confess, I am 44 years old woman and been happily married for over 20 years. My hubby ALWAYS puts me and our 3 kids first and never allowed himself anything very nice vehicle wise. Well, a few months ago his truck was on its last mile and I practically MADE him buy a truck I just knew he loved. Him keeping his old truck was not so much a money issue as it was he would rather buy a kid a new bat or glove etc. We found the most awesome truck and I pretty much had to BEG him to buy it as the payment wasn't a problem. He is so genuine and so sweet that right out of the blue the other night he grabbed me in his arms and said... "Thank you"! I asked for what and…

My pre-op testing is scheduled for the 24th, getting sleeved on the 31st. I found out last month that I shouldn't be smoking cigs so I quit dec 8. Lately, I've taken a hit off a joint, eaten a gummy and smoked a small blunt. I suffer from nothing. I just like weed. I don't smoke it often or anywhere near what I used to years ago but I smoked recently as a farewell Will they test for drugs when they test for nicotine? I got denied for surgery. They said they need proof I have tried to do a weight loss program or do a 6 month supervised weight loss. I've had the same doctor for 14 years and I've worked with him on weight loss but have never done anything supervised nor have I done a program like weight watchers. Hi everyone, I'm new here but have been browsing this site for weeks. I'm finally going to have my sleeve surgery February 13th. I'm in College and I work, yet no one (except my boyfriend & 1 trusted friend) knows that I'm doing this. I'm petite, only 5'0" but I struggle to get below 195 lbs. These past few years that I been obese, I'm always yo-yo-ing between 197 - 230 lbs. I carry my weight well and as a spur of the moment conversation with my hair stylist, I told her I'm thinking of weight loss surgery & she told me I don't need it because my fat is in "all the right places". People don't understand so I decided to keep my weight loss surgery a secret. Has…

Hey guys, i'm almost there...almost to the home-stretch! My pre-op appointment is tomorrow and i'll find out what i can eat or drink rather. I know it'll be a 14-day liquid diet, with the day before surgery being clear liquid only. What are some experiences from people who have been through this? I'm really dreading it, but i know i have to just get through it.... Also, what are some things you pack for your hospital stay after? Thanks!

Have I been approved? Today I called to see my status on approval or not. I was told that I needed to be enrolled in the BRS program, in which I am, and given a number for my bariatric program to call. When asked what this means, I was told that I will be able to get a date and stuff if and when she calls this number... (or something along those lines?) I'm confused... Does this mean I'm approved? Or is it yet another hoop for me to jump thorough... has anybody been through this? Somebody tell me something!!! ETA: I've already completed everything else. I'm just waiting for complete approval. I know they're supposed to help with the process but I am LITE…

So I am required by my insurance to get with my doc and go on a restrictive diet for 6 months, meeting with her once a month for weight-ins and evaluations. I am curious if anyone who went through a similar thing has a particular diet recommendation. I had some success on Adkins back 13 years ago. I was able to stick to it more than others. I went back to eating normally though and put it back on and then some. Looking at Keto or another carb restriction diet to hopefully train me to get away from that junk before and after the sleeve. Suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Excited, nervous, and scared!!! February 10th is coming up quick for my mini sleeve surgery I'm 46 years-old, male that has been overweight most of my life. Although most of my life overweight, I still have been athletic. Currently I'm 6'7" and 360 lbs with a goal weight of 260. I don't think it's unrealistic to lose this amount. I'm very active, and lift weights but love food and drinks. I'm currently cutting back on both, trying to get a jump on my diet. If anyone else is getting there sleeve in February, let's buddy up. Hello! My surgery is January 18th. My surgeon only requires a 1 week preop diet to shrink the liver. I wanted to be sure I did my part in helping to decrease complications and allow my self room for error and started a week early (Now I regret it! LOL). I am now on day 7. This diet is hard! However, not impossible. My real issue is that I've only lost like 3 pounds on this diet. In fact, one day my weight went up 1/2 a pound. I'm concerned that my liver may not be shrinking because I'm not losing a lot of weight. I have not cheated and actually thought I was doing great. Has anyone else not lost a significant amount of weight on the preop diet? I would have expected to …

Hey everyone I started my process for WLS in October, I have 2 more visits to meet the requirements for my insurance. I'm looking to get the vsg by the end of next month or March. When I started the process I switched my insurance and my primary care doctor as well. Does anyone know if that would be a problem for the refferal? We talked about it and she agrees this would help me a great deal. I'm in the process if getting my old records transferred so she can look them over. Just not sure if she states that I've been under her care only for a few months would raise res flags. Thanks in advance

Hi. I am 6 days into my 21 day pre-op diet and wanted to share for those who keep trying shakes. Premier Protein shakes (for me) is the best on the market. I have loved every flavor so far ( haven't tried caramel yet) and it's even enjoyed by our 12 year old very active- picky-eater son. Maybe I can help someone save a little money by encouraging you to try Premier first! Yum Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
