I have Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield NY insurance. How long did anyone wait before they got a response. My surgical coordinator sent the info to the finance dept at the hospital so they in turn could send it in to the insurance company. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 30th.

I guess it depends on the insurance company. I have BCBS. My surgical coordinator turned my paperwork in on a monday and I was shocked that wednesday morning she called me back saying I was approved!

I think it depends on your insurance company, the time of year, etc, etc. The PA I saw for my last 6-month diet appointment told me this time of year is really busy and it usually takes insurance companies longer to get back. However, they submitted to my insurance last Thursday, and I got the approval this morning! So it seems that sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to the time frame.

I have BCBS of Alabama and my coordinator faxed all my paper work last Thursday and I got the call Tuesday afternoon that she had gotten an approval letter. So I guess 3-4 days for us?

I received the call on Wednesday that I was approved and received the letter in the mail as well.

Okay everyone. My paperwork was sent in on the 9th and I received the phone call on the 18th saying I was approved and the letter in the mail today .
