  1. Hi, I was sleeved December 22, 2016. I have lost 61 pounds so far. My surgeon recommends to stay under 20 carbs a day. I was fine with this until just recently. About a month ago I added walking to help boost my metabolism and make me more energetic. It worked...for a while. The last few days I feel like I have been hit by a bus. I usually do about 3-5 miles a day walking and the past few days I am lucky to do a mile. I feel wiped out, loss of stamina, no energy, just plain exhausted. I drink a lot of water during the day, so I know I am well-hydrated. My questions is...is staying under 20 carbs a day adding to my exhaustion? I take in a lot of protein during the day and hang around 600 calories a day. Is my calorie count too low? This is what my surgeon recommends, but am starting to wonder, am I walking too much for this low carb/calorie count?
  2. Thanks so much for the advice! I will start eating more calories and more often. (I have been going a long time between meals.) Lately I have been working 12 hours at work 6 days a week, and between that and all the walking I do, I think maybe my body is trying to tell me I need more to function.
  3. I do log all my foods into myfitnesspal and yes I do wear a fitbit. I really think I do indeed need to up my calorie intake, that may also be why the past few night I am waking up in the middle of the night hungry. Has anyone ever had that happen?

    Carbonated drinks

My surgeon told me no carbonated beverages ever.
  5. Hi All! I am almost 4 weeks out and was cleared for Proteins like fish and chicken a week ago. Everytime I try to eat it hurts in my chest. Terrible, sharp pain which makes me quit. (I eat small bites slowly, and chew a lot.) The last few days I have only been taking in my Protein in shakes because of the pain. I feel weak...and discouraged as I haven't lost any weight in over 2 weeks either. I am scared I went through all this just to still not be able to lose weight...and be miserable. Any advice??

    driving

It depends on how you feel. I didn't feel comfortable driving until about 2 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Hi All! I am 20 days post sleeve and seem to have been stalling for the last 7-8 days. I know this is normal, but when will I start losing again? I lost 8 pounds on the 2 week pre-op diet and 12.5 since day of surgery (12-22) but nothing the last 7-8 days. Any suggestions?? Also, it is so hard to get my Water in and starting solids has been hurting my chest...I don't know if I am eating too much at a time or what. I eat like 6 or 7 bites and then the pain comes...

    Sex

    My surgeon said 2 weeks.
  10. I am 3 weeks out. Lost 8 pounds on my 2 week pre-op diet and another 12.5 since my surgery on December 22nd. I lost that 12.5 pounds probaly the first week after surgery and nothing since. Everyone keeps telling me I am probaly losing inches now even though my weight is not dropping. My questions is if I am not really back at exercising...is it even possible to lose inches during this time when the scale refuses to move??
  11. Mine was two weeks high protein and low carbs. My carbs were to not go over 40 and I was to only get carbs from vegetables. No caffeine and no carbonation as well.
  12. I guess it depends on the insurance company. I have BCBS. My surgical coordinator turned my paperwork in on a monday and I was shocked that wednesday morning she called me back saying I was approved!
  13. It has been 3 weeks today and I have lost 23.5, but nothing for the last 8-9 days...guess I am headed towards the dreaded 3 week stall...but, it'll get moving again.

    Noob here....

It depends on your insurance requirments, but with me from consultation to surgery date was only about 6 weeks! (We were trying to get it done by the end of the year!)
  15. I brought only a change of clothes. The hospital had everything I needed!

    No psych eval?

I only had to have one because insurance required it. My surgeon actually told me it was a waste of time in his opinion, but again insurance required it.

    $$$$

I have BCBS and I had to pay $5,000 out of pocket. Everything else was covered.

Does everyone have to do endoscopy

My insurance (BCBS) required one, my surgeon did it himself. He did it as an outpatient procedure so it was easy!

    recovery

I took two weeks then my third week I did half days to build up my endurance. My Dad had the surgery and it took him a week less than me to get back at work. My surgeon's nurse had it and was back to work in 5 days, so I think it really varies.
  20. I am 3 weeks out and my surgeon wants me to eat more solid foods, like meats. So far I have tried chicken (out of can) which is kindof tough and hard to swallow. Baked fish I tried, which was a little easier going down. What kind of meats/and how did you cook them when first starting out?
  21. I don't like tuna, so it looks like I am stuck with chicken a while. Thanks for the advice of putting it in a slow cooker, it is hard to chew and dry out of the cans!

My surgeon told me chewables for six months before going on to a pill.

    Stalling Already?

Thanks everyone! Yes, I am doing everything my surgeon has asked. (Trying to get water in is a challenge though.) He did tell me to eat that amount of food in 20-30 minutes which is so hard with such little food...I will try a smaller spoon...
  25. I am right there with you! Sleeved December 22 and the last 8 days haven't lost an ounce. So frustrating!!
