  1. Hi all, I have never been a big fan of hospitals so I want to be as prepared as possible. How was everyone's experience before and after the surgery in the hospital. Lay on the nasty or painful details!!! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  2. It is now midnight and yesterday at 1:00 I was sleeved! I was beyond scared but I'm doing great now! I had gas pains in my chest making it hard to breath in, but I walked as soon as they would let me and after two walks and plenty of burping I have no more gas pain! I have been using my pain pump and have even been able to get some sleep. I have been sipping Water constantly with no issues. I wanted to thank everyone who helped pep me up and calm my worries. I don't think I could have done it without you all and my support system at home. Feeling awesome on the other side! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Moving Fast!

I began my journey on November 11, 2016 and quickly completed all my prerequisites. I had my consultation with my surgeon on Monday and sent in my paperwork to the insurance company Tuesday. I got a call Tuesday evening that I was approved and surgery was next week on the 18th!!!!! I'm so suprised how fast this is moving but I can't wait! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  4. Hi all! I began working with my WLC in the beginning of November and had decided that bypass was the right choice for me. Reason being that I had acid reflux for most of my life. Today I met my surgeon (he was so wonderful I was so suprised!) and he told me he thought that the sleeve would be the best option for me and my weight loss. I listened to him explain why he believed all of this and I trust his medical opinion. My trouble is I have spent my last year reading blogs, stories, and posts galore on bypass. Any sleevers out there have some advice on recovery and the long run? Submitted my paperwork and they said they would shoot to have surgery the first week in february, need all the stories I can before then!! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve with GERD?

I had Gerd for a long time but was able to control it with a healthier diet. My surgeon recommended the sleeve and I have not had any sign of heartburn. Just make sure to take your omeprazole every day! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

  8. Hi all, I'm about 1 week post Op and I have to say I'm already getting bored with my premier Protein shakes, not the taste but the texture. Does anyone have any recipes for mixing them up a bit? Thank you! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Pain Meds?

My surgeon gave me a perscription for dilaudid, and I never used any of it. I struggled with neaseau after surgery and knew the pain meds would only make it worse. Walking helped the most with the gas pains and the incision sites weren't anything that needed narcotics to dull. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Discomfort After Surgery

The only issue I had post Op was neaseau and vomiting. They send me home the day after surgery and was back in 6 hours later from vomiting. Ended up staying an extra 3 nights. Keep up with the anti neaseau meds!! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
  13. Hi everyone, I just had my surgery yesterday and was sent home this afternoon. I had neaseau in the hospital but they controlled it with IV zophran and fenergan (spelling). Ever since the car ride home I can't keep anything down. If I move the slightest I start dry heaving. I haven't been able to drink so all that's coming up is foamy. I called the on call doctor and they told me to take 2 zophran at once instead of one...and I am still vomiting every couple of minutes. MY stomach hurts so bad from heaving and I would like any advice!!! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Moving Fast!

Hi Justme not sure if this was asked yet. How did it go with your final approval? I have Humana also and just curious how quick the process is. Seemed like it was moving along terrifically for you. Did you get a date? Thanks Ally in Florida and good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Hi AllysonB during the whole progress I kept on top of my paperwork and made sure it was all completed. They require you to lose 5% of your body weight before they will schedule and I completed that before my consultation with my surgeon. They then submitted my paperwork the day after that consultaction and my insurance approved it the next morning. They knew I wanted to have my surgery before March but told me it would be in February. They called the day it was approved and scheduled me for January 18th! Drove into the city yesterday for all of my preoperative testing and am all ready for next week! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield MA and they said they usually have a fast turnaround. Surgeon recommends sleeve not bypass

Thank you! And I really do trust his opinion. My acid reflux was always caused by stress and the unhealthy diet I previously had. Now that I am only eating healthy I haven't had any reflux at all. What an ever better motivator to stay away from the bad foods! Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Surgeon recommends sleeve not bypass

My reflux was always based on how I ate that day, since cutting out all unhealthy foods I had not had reflux at all (9 months?). Should I still worry it could come back with the sleeve if I avoid the trigger foods? Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

    Surgeon recommends sleeve not bypass

In the past my reflux was all because of the foods I was eating. Since starting my diet (cutting out carby, sugary, greasy foods) I have not had reflux once. He requires you to be on antacids anyways so he said I should be all clear Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App
