Surgery date 2/7/2017

Hey everyone, so I just got my surgery date. And I must admit I am very nervous and executed.

Initially I had wanted to get the sleeve done but my surgeon insists that bypass is better for long term results. I am looking for long term results but the bypass procedure is a bit more invasive than the sleeve and that works my nerves.

It seems that when people, get their surgery dates they are months out, did you have to do any supervised diets or anything? How long has your whole process been so far? Just wondering if there's hope of not having to wait for nearly a year for it all to happen.

No. Thankfully my date was a few weeks away. My date is set for the 7th of February. And yes he put me on a strict diet 2 weeks prior to surgery. I start my diet on Monday. It consists of 4 Protein shakes, 1 high protein snack and 1 limited meal.

My process took 6 months. Insurance requirements. I had to go to monthly weight management clases. I had to get clearance from a few specialties. And attend mandatory support groups. Which in reality, was all great. I learned a lot in the weight management classes and got to see both the good and the bad in the support groups from people who have already done the procedure. The process was a bit long for my liking but very well worth it.

I felt the same way. I went in wanting sleeve but am going gastric due to my health issues. I was really scared but after the classes I had to take it calmed me a bit. I am 4 fays away and I still have those moments where I get a little freaked out. I talk to my support and it helps. I am cheering you on and will send healing energy your way that all goes well.

That's awesome to hear. I'm dreading that I'll have to wait a year to get my date. Of course it's all depends on insurance it sounds like so well see! Good luck to you!

I've done some research on the bypass and it's long term results. I'm pretty confident and at ease about my decision. Best of luck to you on your journey.
