hi- i'm not sleeved yet, but one thing has me very curious. sometimes ill go for a walk around the neighborhood w/ the kids and that makes me super thirsty, so i glugglugglugglug Water as i'm walking and once ig et home. how will that change after surgery? I know you can't glug, and I have a hard time imagining sipping during those super hot walks. how do you do it!? course. I'm kinda dehydrated now, probably always, so when i do finally exert myself, my body says liquid PLEASE!

Getting my Thread on because this is where I'm going to journal all my Thoughts and Daily updates as I go through that crazy workout routine AKA Shaun T's Insanity! Scared and Curious at the same time. I've already taken my Befores and I do plan to keep taking weekly photos. Should be fun!!! Not only do I want to see the Afters but the In-Betweens can be just as telling and motivating. It's nice to get an idea on how far you've come as well as how far you need to go. It sure helps when traveling more than a hundred miles, seeing the road signs along the way. 60 Miles to HOME. Looking forward to it all, and it will be nice to have a few of you reading along!!! …

Has anyone tried a trampoline? I am 2 months out and just found my back pain, numbness in both legs is due to issues with my L4, L5 and two things protuding from my spine. Excercise is hard and walking on days with the numbness is bad. It was suggested I try a trampoline by the PA at my doctors office. I was just wondering if anyone tried it before.

Anyone have any input or recommendations for a treadmill? Looking to spend between $500.00 & $800.00. Any comments about the treadmills advertised/sold on HSN? At least they have payment plans, but don't know if what they sell is good. Thanks.

I've lost nearly 45 pounds, but since the 40 pound mark, I've been having a lot of trouble with sleeping and my CPAP machine. I'm getting a severely dry mouth at night and the Water in the reservoir isn't decreasing. I think I've started to sleep with my mouth open. I didn't sleep much at all last night and I'm miserable today. My question: how much weight did you lose before you had to have your pressure decreased, and did you have dry mouth symptoms?

Just finished a little stretching app on my phone then jumped on the glider and after five minutes I thought I was going to die! I have never exercised before in my life so I knew it was going to be pathetic.....but wow! Are there others out there that feel kinda pathetic? Lol. When you guys started out at first how long did you exercise for?

Hi everyone. I want to help out a friend of mine with exercise, I don't have a band, so am unsure of the limitations for exercise. I do P90X, but think that might be a bit too much for her to do with a band?? Not really sure, so I went and joined the gym with her, but I would like some advice on what type of workout routine to do, and how many times a week. Thanks for any advice, I want to see her succeed with her weight loss goals.

I joined the YMCA back in February and have been going regularly. I also walk, including my very hilly neighborhood. Most recently, i have been training my pony and have been doing alot of walking with him, he walks fast and we are doing alot of hillwork. As I get fitter, i keep upping the intensity at the gym, and felt like I was progressing well. So, most weeks I do: high intensity Water aerobics 2x elliptical cardio for 30-45 minutes, 2x strength train 2x plus walking and stuff around my property - sometimes high intensity. Sunday i was out for 3 hours, walking hills and fast pace (for me anyway). Okay, over the last two weeks, I have noticed just feeling l…

Anyone had issues with tingling/numb fingers? I usually get it in my toes ( only the right one) and thought it was from being cold outside. Today was gorgeous and my right toes still did it and my right hand joined in too!! Very strange!! Now I'm laying down with an icepack on my knee - my very first running injury : ( Hope it recovers quickly!! Things to do places to see, roads to run ; )

I have been in a work out rut and am getting close to my goal weight. I used to be extremely fit and love challenging myself. I keep seeing ads for Insanity and I love Sean T but I don't know if I amfit enough to do either program. I am only like 20lbs overweight and workout 5x a week for two hour including either jogging or eliptical training. I was just wondering if anyone has done either program. It says on the website its for all fitness levels as long as you give your 100% effort. It would be awesome to see if I could do it. But what do you think?

For the first time in my life I ran outside in the real world, with the intention of running, and with a running buddy! It was amazing, we really ran, this wasn't just some slow walking, we kept up a steady jog pace up and down grades AND talked! I felt great and the only part of me to conk out were my lungs and throat which felt like they were sucking ice shards, otherwise I felt good. And ... we did 2.75 miles!!!! The most I've done alone on a tread was 1.5!!!! My running buddy is a former personal trainer and is in excellent shape and she said that I did really well. yay

I was working out today, juts doing one of Leslie Sanson's videos and using my HRM to see how much I burned, when I started to wonder about how my body will change. I started surfing Pinterest for some fitness tips and saw all these photos of gals with amazing abs. Will I ever have them? I have kind of come to terms with the fact that I will never wear a bikini (too many stretch marks! Damn you Latin skin!) but it would be nice to have a 6 pack even if it was covered with a few marks. Has anyone who has been sleeved ever gotten to be so tight that they look like that? I am crazy to hope that someday I can have them?

A fairly easy strategy for you regarding how to be fit. You'll need a simple one - walking. It's not as intense as other kinds of workout, for example tennis or jogging, and you will enjoy obvious advantages, whether or not you are a senior or a youngster. You will get more peaceful sleep, even when you have in the past had sleep problems. You will as well experience a discharge of stress and worry and a sense of your overall wellness.

This may be off topic, but I don't know which area to ask this question. My pants are a waist size 46. For about two weeks, they have been so loose that they fall off and I don't unbotton them anymore. My belt, which had always been on the loosest hole got too big and I had to buy a new belt. The last hole on the old belt was too loose. So anyway, I just measured my waist for the first time, and it was 46. So what gives? I KNOW I've lost inches!

I was banded in September of last year and have had 5 fills so far. I had a bit of weight loss before and after surgery, but nothing near what I expected. I did find that I was eating less, but nothing like what was advertised as a 1/2 cup portion. My experience was that for a day after a fill, I would be very restricted, then for a week or so later it would loosen up a bit, but by week 2 I felt back to normal and could eat virtually anything I wanted. After fill #5, I decided to give them a rest for a while. My port is at a difficult angle and usually requires up to 20 minutes of needle digging for my doc to hit it. It is not a pleasant experience to say the least.…

Hi All, I've been taking Aspirin for blood thinning purpose since 4 years ago due to a Angioplasty done. Sleeved for nearly 3 weeks now. Everytime I run on the treadmill, regardless how fast, how long, even when i thought i was going to die, my pulse never pass the 100/min mark... I read a chart that says at my age, to get into the body work out zone, it should be at 130/min. My goodness, am i doing something wrong? Any advise is much appreciated. Thank you!

weighs the same as a pound of fat!!!.. A pound is 16oz or 0.45kg... regardless of the substance... When it comes to fat, they have different densities, thus taking up different amounts of space... That's why 2 people can way the same and look totally different as it relates how big they look and their definition/shape. I was talking to the school nurse yesterday and I mentioned how the scale isn't moving for me.. and she was like.. well you you are probably building muscle and you know that weighs more than fat... I was just nodded and walked away... I remember in Physics class my teacher asked, which weighs the most, a pound of feathers or a pound of lead.... Glad I…

I have tried multiple pairs of tennis shoes, but after about 10-15 minutes of walking/ jogging/dancing- whatever- my toes are hurting and feel like they have gone to sleep. They are tingling, but also kind of hurt. I end up taking off my shoes and finishing in socks. I can't imagine this is good for my feet- with or without shoes. I have tried wide widths, loosening the strings, and not tying tight. I've tried Nike and NB. Currently wearing Saucony. I am frustrated bc I am TRYING to get into an exercise routine, but it seems like everything is standing in my way. Any other suggestions?

I've been saying this for a while: low weight/high reps is the smarter choice for building strength and toning/bulk. It's far, far safer -- not only are you at less risk of catastrophic injury, you're at less risk of the kind of ongoing, degenerative injury that eventually sidelines all champion bodybuilders. The idea that muscles somehow "know the difference" between being worked to exhaustion via low weights and lots of reps or high weights and a few reps is ludicrous... and the research is confirming that: Protein. So they took a group of 21-year-old men who were weight lifting novices. Three times a week, they had them do knee extensions on a weight machine. That i…

I've got a 56th birthday coming in June and my wife has to go to San Diego for some work projects so I've decided to knock off one of my bucket list items by going with her. My bucket list choice of poison is a Century Ride (100K or 62 miles), I was wondering if anyone was interested in attempting the fete with me? The information can be found here (http://www.shadowtour.com/Subnav/Course_Maps/Fiesta_Metric.htm). Other than one relatively steep incline, the course looks promising. I'm not out to set any records and any one can turn back at any point if they don't feel like they can make it. I'm going to attempt this a week after another triathlon I'm currently train…

So, I REALLY want to stick with yoga, despite my struggles with it. Now that I've read numerous studies confirming that you don't have to lift heavy to get strong and toned (and even bulk up -- see my other post this morning), I'm more convinced than ever that the kind of core strengthening and balance work in yoga could be really good for me, especially as I get older. But, I get really frustrated with it! The two things that I notice are that my lower body and core seem to be really (relatively) weak. I'm all upper body/chest/arm strength, and very little in my midsection/legs/core/stabilizers. I've also noticed that I have real problems with balance... when I'm su…

So, I signed up for Planet Fitness this week and I've been hitting it pretty hard with a friend. I need to know whether I should continue my high reps, low weights philosophy or start working on higher weights. I've read a couple of posters talking about working to muscle fatigue, which I'm willing to do. What I'm looking for, though, is what's the most efficient way to get the maximum benefit out of my gym membership? Should I be concentrating on the regular weight machines, or doing the 30 minute circuit? Should I instead use the free weights? I like the machines because they seem to be designed to make the user do the exercise properly. I'm still doing my 30 minut…

I am very heavy (but getting smaller) in my midsection.. I did have 3 tummies, not it's only 2... but the lower one (panniculus) gets in the way during my workouts.. Especially when I need to do high knees on the bike or in aqua aerobics.. My insurance will pay for a panniculectomy now... BUT, I'm no where near goal yet and I want a TT when I'm done.. So, these are my questions Do they make spanx or some for swimsuits that will keep everything is place in the Water? Should I start working out in compression/Spanx-like gear? Should I consider the panni now and then TT maybe later? Or just suck it up and have a mutualistic relationship w/ this impeding appendage unt…

Since starting this journey I have been resisting exercise. I know that I need to, but just couldn't motivate myself. I've been warming myself up to the idea and researching gyms in the area and finally took the plunge today. I joined Planet Fitness. I was very impressed with the facility and the fact that they are open 24/7 so I can go anytime of the day/nite (as long as I can get a sitter). I worked out today and felt great. Why do I resist when I know working out makes me feel sooooo much better?
