I was banded in 2006. I had a few complications. Right after surgery, I developed a huge hematoma. After that resolved, I got another hematoma and my doctor decided I had an infection. I had to have surgery to remove my port, and then another surgery to replace it. Thankfully insurance covered all this. Once all this resolved, I started taking a psych med that caused weight gain, no matter what I ate. I got very discouraged and had my band completely unfilled.

I tried several diets over the years and did not have success with any of them. Then, for some reason, in January I decided to get filled. I'm finally losing weight. It feels great.

I am vegan and have no trouble getting enough nutrients and protein.
