I am 3 days out from surgery and I have been walking for 30 minutes twice a day at the playground across the street. Once I am done walking i feel kind of light headed but what is bothering me is the numbness/tingling feeling on my left side. I drink 12.5grams of Protein before i start along with my Multivitamin. I am sipping Water while I am walking when it is needed and I drink another 12.5 grams of protein once i make it back home Has this happened to anyone else and of so do you have any suggestions to preveny the tingling feeling

Hi Y'all! I'll be having surgery in the next couple of months, but I'm also training for a 1/2 marathon in January. Has anyone been through this--a 1/2 or a maraton post-surgery? I want to know how to make sure I have enough nutrients to run/walk the full 13.1 miles! Thanks! Julie

I have heard sooo many differing opinions on how often you should exercise. My current exercise consists of walking. Granted I walk as fast as I can for at least 35-45 minutes and I pour sweat, I am just walking. Do we really need a day of total rest? I can't see how walking for 45 minutes can be bad for me on that 7th day. What's your opinion?

For those of you not following the biking banders thread. Ok, perfect day for a ride and a NSV, last year I struggled to maintain 15 MPH average for 10 miles and never made it, 14.9 was the closest I came. Since being banded in January I was able to break that goal early this year, and on today's ride I maintained 17.1 MPH average for 26.29 miles. Time: 1:32, avg. speed 17.1, distance 26.29, calories 1334

I am almost 4 months out and have been excercising about 5-6 days a week. I usually do an hour class and burn 400-500 calories. Once a week I burn 1000 calories during my workout. The problem is I eat between 800-1000 calories a day. I have recently increased my calories so I am able to have energy to my workouts but these past few days I am very fatigued and started getting headaches. I don't know if I am doing this right. Am I eating too many calories or too few? I have been losing weight but I want to feel good doing it. I eat healthy and eat every 2-3 hours ,maybe i need a change in a meal plan. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I miss yoga so much and I'm eager to get back to it. I always had to modify the asanas like crazy, but it always felt good. I plan to ask my bariatric nurse at my July appointment, but when did others start back?

I highly recommend u google it, print it out and do it! I'm on day 13 and the increase in abdominal strength is crazy. It's small increases every day and u feel a little stronger every day. It's awesome and only takes a few minutes I did repeat day 11 because I didn't feel up to day 13 after my Rest day but that's ok. I am amazes that I could barely complete day 1 and have some a long way already!

I was sleeved 1/31/13, and I've gone from 290 to 210. During that time, I've lost lots of muscle mass. I'm feeling weaker, and I'm having a hard time recovering from my workouts. I'm currently taking in 80 grams of Protein a day along with 64 oz of fluids. I just started making it to the point that I'm hitting both those numbers in a day, and it is work to do that!!! I'm lifting weights and running, but later in the evenings, my knees are in constant pain. I have trouble relaxing at times, no matter how tired I am. My legs are constantly sore. I've always been active, so I thought dropping al this weight would have helped. But my post-workout recovery has been terribl…

I'm three weeks out from surgery as of today, and my doctor told me I could go back to my yoga and taekwondo classes anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. Decided to give it a shot last night and I survived! Skipping all the self defense and sparring, of course, for another month so that I don't take any kicks to the abdomen, or get thrown to the floor, but just the workout itself and forms work was great. I've felt so tired for the last few weeks, and have been stalled for a week as well. I've never been one to enjoy excercise but it just felt so good to get back on the floor and show that I could do it. Bonus was I finally lost a pound overnight! Not being too sore from Tae…

I have a mobility issue with my hamstrings and am unable to completely straighten my legs. Maybe it is not my hamstrings, butI do feel it is tight there and my leg locks at about 170 degrees when trying to stretch it against a vertical bar with my back on the floor. For the past few months I have been doing some pretty focused mobility exercises to straighten them out because lack of flexibility is holding me back in my cross fit training. I do not know what has caused this, but suspect it is either from decades of rigid exercise with no concern for stretching or lack of exercise period. My career has been a desk job as a software developer. It could also be caused …

I know we are supposed to go for a deficit, but I only ate 500 calories today, and my workout (a HIIT class) burned 612 calories according to my HRM. Is this bad or good? My protein is normal, but fish and shrimp just don't have that many calories.

I have 33cc's, but no real restriction in my band right now. I've had just one fill and can eat anything, but when I am exercising its like the band seizes up on me. It makes it hard to swallow Water even. Its ONLY when I exercise and after I've cooled down the feeling goes away. Anyone else experienced this? Tips tricks to keep it from happening?

So people talk about rest days and all that. But this video is for 30 days in a row. Is it ok to do it? People exercise everyday right? I hear you are supposed to switch up routines so you can give certain muscles a rest but this is set up so you do the same video 10 days in a row. Is this ok?

I see a lot of you doing your first 5k and that is my goal. My question is for those of you that have done this what are the best training tips? I have never ran really at all except chasing my kids... I can walk for long distances at a good pace without getting winded or tired but I really want to prepare for a 5k (running) or more.

I am battling to lose. I am battling to exercise. Somedays I lose the battle, but I WILL win the war. Any other warriors out there? Those that struggle but could use a pal that gets it. Yesterday I tried couch to 5k for the first time. Thought it would be another thing I would try and give up on or fail. But holy cow, I did it. I finished!! Day one, I won the battle! Take today off....thank goodness because my arthritic knees are screaming at me. But I won the battle! And I actually look forward to day 2 tomorrow. (that was NOT a typo!!)

We all know the BMI chart is not very accurate as a measurement of good weight (or perhaps even good health) if you are built any different then " average"; that is, you do not have big bones and have a fairly average muscle composition. I may be completely wrong in the statement I just made, but it is something I have learned over the years. Before surgery, the BMI chart told me I was morbidly obese at 360. I did not like the term, but came to accept it and could see I was in middle of dark red section of BMI chart. Clearly, this was not something I was proud of and knew it was time to do a 180 reverse direction on both my physical and mental qualities that define my …

Maaaaan it was freakin brutal. As I've become what's known as a "Gym Rat", I've met a lot of really hot guys and well you know, I mingle with them. Best part about mingling with fit guys is that you receive a lot of information, and well, they wanna be your personal trainer too! So yesterday I decided to work out with one of the fittest guys at the gym and we got on the subject of core training versus plain old ab workouts. And let me tell you, I've officially said goodbye to situps and the whole boring story of an ab workout. Core workouts get you ripped in more than just your tummy, and the strength you build really allows you to complete everyday chores and movements w…

Hi does anybody have any recommendations for a scale that is very accurate I've never have a scale before and now I'm thinking it's time to get one because I have 2 weeks until my surgery. I don't need one with all the bells and whistles just one that's easy to read because my eyesight is not that good thank you.

I realized that I swallow a lot more Water than I thought. As some of you know, I am almost 5 weeks out and am still fairly unable to consume anything that is more than a thick puree. I haven't not mastered much more than sip sip sipping and when I take too large of a gulp, I have big pain and middle school boy belches until the pressure is relieved. During my hour swim (at 7 in the morning!!!), I watched the little old blue hairs that frequent the pool for the coffee and the newspapers turn to me in disgust as I would come up for breath, swallow a few drops of water and inevitably burp every 6 or 8 strokes. I used to be a swimmer in high school and college, so I am …

Sooo, I've been cleared to exercise (I'm entering my 6th week post op). I found and joined a local gym, very small, but with all the basic machines. Here's my problem, I haven't worked out (at a gym or otherwise) in over three years!! When I say I'm out of shape, I mean, dreadfully lol. A flight of stairs leaves me winded and a walk around the block makes me tired. BUT i am determined. I have only lost 20lbs since surgery and I'm sure my super slow metabolism is a factor. Can anyone give me pointers on where is a good place to start today? Not sure what to do or for how long. I obviously want to challenge myself, but not to the point where I push so hard I injure myself…

After my first fill, I was finally able to begin exercising two weeks ago and have (proudly) been doing my Bowflex Treadclimber six mornings a week however, instead of losing more weight, I have gone from 314 lbs to 322 lbs as of today - an 8 pound increase! I am not eating any differently and am consuming about 800 calories less than I should per day (according to LoseIt.com). My doctor expects me to be down to 288 lbs in six weeks but, at this rate, I'll be back to where I started at 350 lbs. Any advice on what I am doing wrong is appreciated.
