Hello! I am a trained singer, and I'm pursuing RNY. I have some major gigs coming up so I need to try and time when I have my surgery. For those that sing, how long until you felt good again? 2 months? 3 months? More? Any insight you can provide is much appreciated!!!!

I took 1/2 c Premier Choc Protein Drink,(15 gr protein) 1/2 c lite almond milk, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (12 gr protein), 1/2 Tb caramel SF Torani syrup, 11 drops Capella almond joy flavoring and mixed it in my magic bullet. Then I poured it into my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. I ran it 5-8 min until the ice cream walked onto the top of the "dasher" then I scraped it out into a bowl and that was my lunch... It was sooo good. I am going to play with different mixtures using the RTD Premier.

Hi to all my April friends. I hope everyone is doing well. We are 1/3 of the way into the month which means we have both pre-op and post-op friends now. I started this page to give us our little special place. I've heard people cannot access it via the mobile apps which is a bummer. I also have only invited members who are having bypass. Why if we are all in the WLS thing together? I figure the VSG folks have VSG boards and groups. I also think the journey is different in many ways for both groups. We as RNY folks deal with Vitamin and absorption issues that the VSG folks don't. We also have the dumping issue which the VSG group does not have to deal with.…

My husband and me met some friends yesterday for lunch I am 11 months out have lost 103 lbs have 2 more lbs to goal. So I am very mindful of what I can and can not eat. I found out a while back that sugar does not bother (shucks) but I treat it like it does. What I have heard is just because it doesn't once doesn't mean it won't. Anyway looking at the menu they had grilled shrimp. So I thought to myself sounds like a good choice so that is what I ordered. We'll it came saturated in butter. I took every piece and squeezed it in my napkin to remove all the excess butter, it was actually pretty good. Sat for about 30 minutes after eating enjoying conversation with friends.…

Hi all, anyone else get their surgery the end of Jan? I've been reading about a lot of folks having a tough time after surgery. I must be lucky, other than the post op soreness, so far, I feel very good. I know its a journey , but the loss has slowed, the past week. still, I know this is a big deal, and don't want to blow it!

Which prenatal should I take or should I just continue taking my regular vitamins? Any help would be appreciated from the mommies who have already been down this road. Thank you

i just had this done 26th March, I am 6 days post op and have lost 6kg already. Surgeon is wrapped with the results so far. I feel 100% apart from really severe muscle pain from the left side, but that will heal, it will just take time. I am so far so glad I have done this, my blood sugar readings are down from over 17 to between 6-8 and I know i am going to look after myself so much better now...I feel like I have been given a 2nd chance at life and this is all mine now for the taking and boy am I going to do so much with it!

I am trying to be so patient during this process, and I know that I have been extremely lucky to have had doors just open for me as far as scheduling appointments and being able to get all the pieces needed to submit to insurance. But I just find myself wanting to call my doctors office every 10 minutes to check in, have they gotten all the pieces has my doctor looked them over and then passes them on to the woman in charge of filing with insurance. Is insurance going to approve me? I have all the pieces that my policy requires but are they going to make me do a 6 month dr supervised diet? Can I be patient if they do ask that of me? I just want to get on the road to bett…

I don't know what to do to be able to start losing again. I was only eating 300 cal after my surgery and lost 30 lbs in the first month, they finally get me to where I can keep something down and I stop losing?!?!? How is it that eating 900 cal a day causes me to maintain weight and not lose! 300 cal is not enough to sustain life or proper brain function, but any more and I can't lose anything? Anybody have any ideas? I am lost...oh and I can only drink milk for fluids, water hurts and makes me upchuck so that is how I am getting my cal everyday. I am still only eating two 1/4 cp meals a day.

I am 4 days out (surgery was wednesday) from having my revision from lap band to bypass. I had this all planned out in my mind as going perfectly. Im one to bounce back fast and this has been anything but. To be honest, im pretty scared and emotional. The surgery itself i've been told went pretty well. There was a lot of scarring inside from the band. He left a drainage tube in place which I know is pretty routine. I wasn't getting much comfort from pain medication at all. My oxygen levels kept going down which im sure was due to the pain. The doctor sent me home Friday towards evening with oxygen and pain meds. Through the evening and into the night it just got worse and…

So I'm from Ohio and am going to Florida in 2 weeks and my best friend is already talking about taking me to amusement parks. Probably either Disney or busch gardens. My question is, anyone know how big is to big for roller coaster rides. The last time I was on a ride at busch gardens was almost 10 years ago and I had no problem fitting but I don't exactly remember my size. I am as of right now 5'9 and 325 lbs. I will probably be 310-315 when I go. Anything helps! I just don't want to waste the money or have to do the walk of shame because I can't fit.

  31. Hi all, I'm considering having a gastric bypass. I currently have the band but it has done nothing for me and Slimband has been the worst to deal with. I'm currently on the Bariatic Registry List in Ontario and have my first consultation in June. I'm just looking for some advice from those who have been through it. It really scares me because I've heard the nightmares of people dying. The recovery I can deal with. I've had 4 surgeries with Slimband re: complications. I want to hear from everyone, the good, bad and ugly. I'm also worried about the access skin after weight loss.

After that I started throwing up everything I ate and drank. Now I'm throwing up and having dumping syndrome constantly even though I am not eating and barely drinking. I also nearly passed out at my job twice and I ended up in the er in my hometown because my blood pressure was through the roof. I'm not sure what to do our what is causing this. Does an…

Ok, this may seem like too much information, but I need to know if I'm the only one.... While on the two week preop liquid diet, I was in the bathroom at least once every 45-60 minutes to empty my bladder. I'm now 8 days post op, taking in 60+ ounces of fluids the same as before surgery, and I'm lucky to visit the bathroom 4 times a day. When I do go, it's not much. Is this normal with anyone else?

Everything I have tried up to this point just hasn't set well with me mostly due to taste. I love Water, but it hurt so bad I couldn't handle it. The other day my husband had to run into Panera so I had him grab me a glass of water with lemon. It didn't seem to hurt as bad as plain water. I have noticed if I drink ice cold water with lemon it doesn't hurt at all. I was at Kroger and saw their Diet Decaf iced tea sweetened with splenda I think. Anyways, I bought it and put it on ice, waited until it got cold and was able to drink it with no problems. Hope this helps some of you that are struggling with liquids. Have a great day!!

My Friends and Family all support the idea of surgery but none of them are very helpful in the understanding and encouraging department. I think I am going through withdrawals from food if that is even possible. On top of that I had to quit smoking too, whew I knew this would be hard but I didn't imagine all this at once. Sigh... anyone out there that has any advice or coping mechanisms that might help. thanks Stacy

I have every other time, and I will this time for sure. So now let me ask the questions: How difficult has it been for you to lose the weight during the first year or so? How long did your honeymoon phase last for you? I need to lose 80 Lbs to get to a 21 BMI. How long would you guess that might take? Don't worry I know you're not psychic.
