Help!!! I can not stop nibbling and grazing. Surgery was in October and I have done well. The only problem is this past month I can not stop putting food in my mouth. This is driving me nuts. I eat crackers, fruit, protein bars, goldfish, anything and almost everything. I have stayed away from candy, cakes and any other tasty candy type things. I really can not tell if I am hungry or just want to eat because of what other reasons. Any suggestions!?!? Do I need more fluids, more protein, more activity, adjust vitamins? I don't want the old me back so please help.

Hello! I have never joined a forum before, have been searching for one & so glad I came across BariatricPal. I am looking for some advice, suggestions, support, etc. I had gastric bypass surgery on July 25th 2012 & have lost a total of 114 pounds, 8 pant sizes, 1 shoe size & any/all health issues!! Life is pretty great, but I am starting to get nervous about gaining some weight back. I'm one of those people that reads all those worst-case scenerios & starts to panic - I do not want to be a statistic. I want to succeed, not go backwards. I have read that gaining some weight is normal but am interested in some ideas as to what is normal. The lowest I…

I'm 11 days post-op and I've been nothing but short of miserable since coming home. Yesterday I discovered an abscess at my incision site so off to ER I went. That was a 5 HR ordeal because the local surgeon had to obtain permission to open it up because I had my initial bypass at another hospital 1.5 hrs away. Long story short it was finally cut open and drained then packed. I'm still in pain but not as much. My gastric bypass journey has been a rocky one, one I'm starting to wonder if it was even worth it with all the trouble I've had as a result. Sigh... I know its nor reversible and ill Just have to continue but its all been so emotionally and physically draini…

Ok so as the weight is coming off, my husband is freaking out. He is getting more grumpy. Is this normal? He was very supportive (he's overweight himself) with me joining the gym, and all the doctors appointments. I'm still pre op. But since losing 30 lbs, he keeps saying I'm changing to much, and that I wasn't like this when we married. We have 4 children together, and we have been together 12 years. I'm not going anywhere. I love him. But I tried explaining to him that when your BIG you say no to a lot of things, and as the weight comes off I'm more comfortable saying yes! Any advice here?

Hello everyone! I haven't been revised to RNY yet and I've stated so in an earlier response. I was banded b/c I was soooo afraid of having RNY. At that time I weighed 246. I have diabetes and it runs in my family. I am still a diabetic and after losing 44 lbs and regaining 15 lbs back, I now weigh 217. Afraid or not, I've started my RNY process. I should have done it before but hind sight is 20-20. I've had so many family members that were tragedies to this decease including my mother and a couple of siblings. How many of you have diabetes running in your family or a parent. I think that having RNY at 217 lbs is worth the chance of getting rid of diabetes.

I haven't posted for a while as I've had nothing new to say but I have officially moved from slow loser to 'no' loser. The RNY just hasn't worked for me and yesterday, my surgeon says that he thinks my stoma is too big and therefore food is going straight down my throat and into the intestine. I t's nice to have an answer but I have no options for treatment as yet as they need to consult further. Does anyone know what the possible treatments might be? Has anyone else had this situation?

I have to go on the 3rd at 11:00 for my Pre-op appointment with my surgeon and then on the 4th I have to go at 3:00 to get a PICC line. Did anyone else have to get one before your surgery? So I made my buttermilk pancakes for my family today. I normally just have a shake, but decided to try something new. Here's what I made: 2 T cottage cheese 1 egg white Dash of vanilla 1/4 tsp baking powder 1 scoop vanilla Protein powder A dash of artificial sweetener Mix well. Cook like pancakes on a sprayed surface. Small is better as it's easier to flip Made 4 pancakes. I can only eat two. Two cakes has 14 G protein, and 4 carbs

Hi all, I have been in this process since September 2013 after being diagnosed with diabetes and deciding that I had spent enough time just thinking about surgery and researching, etc.....I went to an informational forum recommended by my primary doctor and decided on the gastric bypass. Then I started the process of doctor appointments, meeting the surgeon for the first time on November 27, 2013, the day before Thanksgiving. I had already started to lose weight due to the diabetes situation. As things progressed I got the indication from everyone that I met with that I would have everything completed in time to have my surgery by mid January to mid February. I hav…

So, I figured by now I would have this whole eating thing under control but for the last week or so I seem to be nauseous 24 /7. Nothing I do seems to help... eating, not eating, water, protein... On top of it all, I seem to be losing very slowly. . Any suggestions? I'm considering starting from scratch again and starting with a liquid diet because I can't seem to get all my protein in and my hair is starting to fall out. I'm in desperate need of help because this is affecting my life negatively instead of being a positive change.

Hi Everybody, I had a revision from a sleeve to bypass along with a hiatal hernia repair on January 13, 2014 in Montreal. I had C Difficile 3 times between November 3, 2013 until January 12, 2014 (before the surgery) and it has recurred twice since the surgery between January 13, 2014 and today (February 11, 2014). The cost of each treatment is roughly $1300. Now since the surgery, the pain hasn't subsided yet. It has migrated though... Where it use to be solely on the area of my belly button. Now it has moved to my right side just under my ribcage and resonates around to my back. The pain is awful, and the diarrhea is constant. I am at my wits end with all of this…

Hi everyone. I'm in the process of waiting for my insurance to approve a revision from band to Rny . I had band 11 years ago and 3 years later it slipped as well as a hernia. I had it fixed and they replaced the band. Now it happened again. I want this thing out and I need Rny. I gained all 100 lbs back. Does anyone have horizon blue cross blue shield? Is it hard to get approved?

I am over the moon with excitement about my band to RNY revision! I just wanted to share my joy with all of you! After dealing with all the ups and downs and run arounds with my former surgeon's office (Dr. Daniel Swartz) and moving to a new surgeon (Dr. Kelvin Higa) to start all over, I could not be happier with how quickly and efficiently I have my new surgery scheduled!! I feel so wonderful. I am ready to start prepping my body and life for this change and finally see the results I had hoped for when I first went under the knife. Wish me luck!!

Ou know that feeling, deep down inside of you that tells you there's something just not right? Well...mine has been screaming at me since my 1st appointment. I was referred to a bariatric surgeon by my regular physician who I feel very comfortable with and trust. He gave me the name of the doc and I called and made my appointment, it was dec 11,2013. I went to the info class first, then my appointment was that afternoon at 2:30. Now I should mention here that I wasn't scheduled with the doctor I was actually referred to but one of his associates. I didn't really think anything of it as he works for this doc that came so highly recommended by tons of people and my do…
