His morning I called Indiana Medicaid to check the status of my claim for approval. I was told that they have approved the room Jan 14-18, so I guess that's my date? The insurance specialist is gone until Monday at the surgeons office, so I can not check with her (ugh!) I am assuming that Medicaid will not approve a room if they aren't going to approve the actual procedure.. Right?

I'm still waiting, my tentative date is January 16th. I called the insurance on the 19th and was told I was approved. The surgeon hadn't received the authorization yet so I called again yesterday and was told she made an error and that my request for authorization was submitted for review on the 19th. I had a really bummed out day yesterday. So now I have to wait a while longer to find out. I was so excited that I was approved then she burst my bubble... I suppose it could be worse and be told I was denied... Keeping positive thoughts.

I've checked with the surgeons and apparently the diameter of the stoma and the pouch emptying rate as well as the size of the pouch can be seen with a barium X-ray. So I'll just wait for an appointment to come through. No restriction, no dumping, slow weight loss probably only attributed to calorie counting ... I just don't feel as though I've had the procedure :-(

Hi all, I am one month out and im wondering about dumping. So far ive been okay. Ive had peaches and apples with no problem. Im curious about high sugar fruits like bananas and grapes, but im scared to try just yet. I have had one terrible episode. Truly, i brought it on myself trying to test the waters with worthers candies :-) My question is... Will this last forever? Its probably for the best right now, but what if 5 years from now i want to have a piece of birthday cake?

So I've been MIA lately. I didn't realize my old RNY moved to new place. Finally downloaded the new one, and I'm back at it. I'm still truckin to get to my goal. I'm losing so very slowly but not gaining!!! My life has recently endured so much change my head still spins lol but I've been upping my Protein and dealing with the gas side effects it brings. I've upped my walking and hoping to get back to a gym routine after thanksgiving. Highest weight 389lbs (that number still makes me cringe!) Day if surgery 359lbs Today 217lbs Down 179lbs My personal goal 199lbs I'm 16 months post op.

While driving to my in-laws today, we stopped at Frisch's to use the restroom. I decided to get a small vegetable soup to hold me over. It didn't agree with me. About an hour later, I got foamy and gassy. We're at their house now. Everyone is enjoying a turkey dinner, but me. Let's just say that I now know their toilet more intimately than I care to. Hoping this passes soon!!

Hey everyone! I'm 21 years old from Canada and I have been looking into having RNY gastric bypass surgery in April and I'm currently going through the social worker and nutritionist. Here in Canada we have to go through a few process before the doctor lets us go through the surgery. I have been thinking about the long the effects this surgery will provide (good and bad) my mother supporters me but my dad doesn't want me to do it. I am currently 260 lbs height of 5'6. Any advice? I also have PCOS which makes it very difficult to loose weight and a long family history of diabetes so I'm afraid. Any one have advice about not all family members agreeing with the surgery? I'…

To those who had gastric bypass, do tacos make you dump? I remember someone said they did so I'm scared lol. It's not something I would think of as having sugar in it!

I'm six months out from having RNY. I've been doing well. Lost a total of 97 lbs and also running 2.6 miles 5x a week. All of a sudden I've been getting sharp constant pains in my upper mid area (pit of my stomach.) Always after I eat and usually much worse during the night (after dinner time)! It would radiate to my right and go towards the back. Doctors say either ulcer or gallbladder. :'( Well yesterday the ultrasound tech said they see what the problem was. Sludge and small stones in the gallbladder. They say they will send the report to my surgeons office. Ugh, really?

So a few of us ordered $8.00 lunch plates at work today and one of my co workers took it upon herself to tell another co worker that did not order a plate, that she can have most of my plate, before I even ate any for myself (free) because I never eat all my food anymore. Her exact words were "She has more than enough food and you can make yourself at home in her plate, she can't eat all that". I was sitting in another area and heard her, I was not part of the conversation. I offered the girl some of my plate then pulled the co worker aside and told her to never do that again. I told her that it is not her place to offer my plate regardless to the fact that I do not eat t…

What is the difference between calcium and calcium citrate? I'm currently taking calcium citrate pills but they're pretty big and I read on here that a lot of people are doing chewables for after surgery, so I got viactiv calcium chewables plus vitamin D in the chocolate flavor 500 mg and I think you're supposed to take two or three a day? Is this okay? What do you guys take or find the easiest? I have surgery on August 26th.

Hi, I'm struggling with various issues right now, but I am hoping to have RNY in 14. I have the Band which must be taken out. I was admitted to the hospital for four days a week and a half ago with the fear I was having a heart attack, turns out my heart is in great shape, but now I have Asthma. I'm only 47. I now have 24/7 Oxygen inside the house, at work and outside of the house. Probably permanent. Will this keep me from having the RNY?

Hi everyone I live in Cameron, NC looking for buddies/ mentor just had surgery 4 days ago!!!

So I had surgery on Halloween '13. I suffered severe back pain in the hospital that spanned across the base of my left shoulder blade to the right shoulder blade base. This eventually was relieved shortly as I was able to walk. I suffered also from intense abdominal pain, for which everyone said was normal. My pain did let up eventually as I am 11 days post op. My pain in my abdomen is lessened by Tylenol and a stomach binding, just bought today. Unfortunately my back is getting worse. About 5 days ago, I was experiencing back pain in the small area of my back, but towards my left side. I attribute it to stay in the same position for so long, it actually caused back str…

I'm very pre-op, surgery date isn't set yet, and I'm already second guessing my decision to have surgery! It's not the lifestyle and eating habits that bother me...it's the thought of things to come. I have A LOT of weight to lose, 150 lbs. I'm fairly certain I'll have mudflaps and flapjacks hanging around...I've heard it's nearly impossible to tone & tighten that much. I'm 38...did I wait too long???

I was moving full speed ahead once I settled on RNY. I'm almost ready to have insurance approve (only two more nutrition visits) and I'm SCARED and having SECOND THOUGHTS. Today's kind of bad because someone hit my trigger this morning - that I'm not going to be the same person anymore. The exact words were "ah man, how am I going to even laugh at your jokes anymore." Rationally, I know that this is something that I need to do - I'm "pre" every health condition you can think of and I've been unsuccessful losing the weight and keeping it off. Also, I want my outside body to match the body I perceive on the inside. I want to be able to get up and down off the floor e…

After I eat I feel literally full. Then after 15-20 min I start spitting up food. It is not the slides, I have had that. It is disgusting and doesn't quit until I drink Water and drinking water is not comfortable when that is happening. 2 questions 1) What is that called 2). How do I stop it. I don't think I'm eating too much. This morning I had a piece of toast with 2tbs of Peanut Butter.

Sorry guys. TMI. But here goes. I am 8 weeks post op and have lost almost no weight. I lost about 5lbs right at first... Then nothing. I eat right... Lean meats and legumes mostly... A little oatmeal when i feel carb starved. I also have had severe constipation. I cant go without copious amounts of stool softners and mirolax and i have to resort to magnesium citrate fairly regularly. When i do go, its a very small amount and seems like it is just scootching around a big blockage. Im making a doc appt this week as im afraid im going to create a laxative dependency. In the meant time.... Could this lack of bm evacuation be causing me to not loose. I know the st…
