Yesterday I had to go buy pants because everything I have is falling off of me. My previous size was 18W and I bought 12's!! I almost cried! My surgery date was October 2 and HW was 230. I weighed 166 this morning. Only 15 lbs from my surgeons goal weight for me. That's a lot of change in a little less than 3 months. Happy doesn't begin to describe it! I am so thankful for this surgery and wouldn't go back for anything. Now maybe a cute pair of boots

I am so incredibly excited and nervous. This has been at least two years in the making and I can't believe it's finally here. These past two months have came incredibly fast. I feel like I am going to a funeral tomorrow (for food). How weird is that? What if I wake up and decide I made the worst decision ever? What if I don't wake up? Aaaah! Wish me luck peeps. I will keep in touch with my surgery experience. I sure have appreciated everybody else's stories.

Insurance denied my 1st attempt for revision; band showed no malfunction (although I was vomiting & food was getting stuck. I was hoping for band to sleeve; however latest upper GI says I have a paraesophageal hiatal hernia...reflux is bad. Sleeve is no longer an option. Now my doctors office is going to send an appeal letter for revision to RNY. Bariatric coordinator says it may not be approved just because it is a hernia & may not be band related. Of course, I'm hoping she is wrong. I sit here thinking should have done RNY in the 1st place instead of the band. I am 30 lbs away from gaining my weight back i lost with the band; which was 90 lbs. I'm just frust…

VSG on 12/9/13. All went well. No real complaints. Lost 17 pounds the first 7 days, then nothing! Just the same half pound up and down. I'm drinking my Protein, eating some Soup, SF Jello, etc. I was doing 48 oz Water that first week, but kinda dropped back to about 32 oz water lately. Could less water really have this effect? Would be nice to see some more loss, especially over the holidays, to make me feel more excited about this. Any suggestions? Thanks Donna

Does anyone else's stomach gurgles, bubbles, twitches, whatever you want to call it. It happens every time I drink and eat. Feels like a bad case of the bubble guts. Its not painful but rather annoying and discomforting. I'm post op (12/10/13)

I had my surgery June 2012 and it seems that my wanting for sugar (sweets) is greater since. Sweets have always been a struggle for me even before surgery, but now my "need" is more. Any suggestions to help with cravings?

Have my orientation tomorrow and my first meeting with my surgeon on Christmas Eve. I'm really excited about finally taking charge of my life and future. I have always been overweight and have battled depression just as long. I taking Effexor and Wellbutrin and am doing ok now but I'm worried about emotionally spinning out of control once I actually get closer or during post op. Does being on medication make the process harder? Does the medication hurt your chances of being able to have the surgery? It's funny I'm more scared of the psych profile then getting cut.

Hey everyone, I'm new to this. I will be having my first appt with the surgeon on the 30th of December. I'm so nervous. I don't know what to expect. I think the main thing I'm worried about is my insurance. I have blue cross blue shield Illinois. Does anyone have that insurance???? Does anyone know what there requirements are to get approved??? I do know that the BMI has to be 40+ which mines is. I'm just so nervous about the surgery overall.

I'm nine months post op and had my visit with my surgeon today and he told me not to loose anymore weight!!! He said I have reached my weight loss goal and that I look amazing! I am soo happy! I went from a tight 18-20 down to a petite 4 !!! I top the scale during that time of the month when we all know I'm holding weight at 118.7 !!! I can't believe it... It seems unreal!!!

hey everyone I am 3 months pre op, my surgery is in march. I was just wondering how many of you are post op or are even at your goal and did not have to surgery to remove excess skin. I want to know your secrets! :-D right now I walk 2 miles a day to and from the gym 5 days a week where I do 2.5 miles on the elliptical on the weight loss setting, and 2-3 days a week I'm doing zumba toning with sticks. I drink lots of water and eventually as I start losing more I'll start toning more. Just wanted to know what your exercise regimen looks like

I asked for and received a super accurate scale for Christmas. It weighs me one pound less than our old scale!! The best part is that this officially makes me overweight!! Yay, I'm no longer obese. Oh, how I hate that word!!

I'm almost 6 months out and I've been plagued with nausea, constipation/impaction, and vomiting for the last 6 weeks. My doctor was hoping to hold off on the hernia surgery until I was a year out, but my flare ups were occurring more often. I had a bad night last Thursday and it started again this Tuesday. The umbillical hernia looked larger and was bulging more, so I headed to the ER. They did the scan and saw that the bulge was mostly fat, but some bowel was also involved. Had surgery yesterday. It was mostly laparoscopic, but I do have one larger incision. Also have another dreaded drain. Came home last night and feeling pretty good. Pain meds can wear off without …

There aren't many of us - so far, I think it's me, Patticake and Mommashari who feel they have no restriction. I also saw someone called Alice (I think) who said the same thing but now I cant find her :-( If you're in the same boat, let's all stay in touch and see if we can share info that might help us to get the bottom of the problem. Here's my very brief story; band removed and RNY done on 10/10/13. No restirction, no dumping, no foods I can't tolerate (although I've gone off Breakfast cereal). I had an x-ray last week to look at stoma and stomach size - all seems 'normal' and yet my dietician nearly fainted when I told him i could easily eat a whole sandwic…

Have you had a massage post surgery? How do you feel about them? Share your thoughts and experiences if you would. I had a really bad experience with a massage a couple years ago after going to a chiropractor when my back went out. It was incredibly painful and I cried A LOT. However, I feel now like I may be ready to try again, and be more assertive about how I want to be touched (gently!).

I just got my surgery date for 12/19. I feel I'm ready - I'm so done with the exhaustion, joint pain, no energy, etc., and I want to lead a healthy, active life - but now that it's real, I'm getting scared. I told my doc that I'm mostly just afraid of the medical things (I.e., surgery going well), and I know it's a massive lifestyle change, but i feel pretty good about it and have great support. So I'starting to stay positive, but am starting to freak a little. I've heard it's common to have those "why did I do this" thoughts during the first month after....but do you have any regrets now? I need some encouragement (which is really difficult for me to request!)... Hoping …

I am starting this so all of us who are beginning 2013 in a big way can share stories, advice and experiences. My surgery date is 1/21/13 and this has been a year long journey for me. I began last December with a physical and my Dr. and I decided it was time. I had to go through 6 months of weigh-ins and visits with the nutritionist before I was even allowed to see the surgeon. I finally met him in July and then was given a whole new list of tests and appointments that needed to be done. My insurance finally approved me earlier this month, but only for surgery after January 1, so January 21st it is. I am so excited to start this journey and thank you all in adva…

Posting for those who would like to participate in research on weight loss surgery. I found this on another site and I thought it would be good if they got some input from here as well. A research study is being conducted through the department of Psychology and Counseling of Georgian Court University, Lakewood, NJ, on quality of life (QOL) outcomes in long-term post-operative bariatric surgery patients. If you have been living with an adjustable gastric band (such as LAP Band or Realize Band, RNY gastric bypass, gastric sleeve or duodenal switch for at least two years, please take the survey athttps://www.surveymo...quality-of-life . I figured I'd come to the 20somethings group (I'm 28) with this one. Since surgery and returning to work, I have noticed my thighs and hips are very stiff and I often cannot stand up straight right away without doing a bit of stretching first. And my hips kind of ache sometimes. I feel like I'm too young to have arthritis. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? As a caveat, I exercise just by walking for 30-45mins several times a week. That's it so far.

I tried to be patient and not panic. Unfortunately I'm finding myself wallowing. I've lost a total of 5 lbs since my surgery which was 10/21. Even the people who refer to themselves as slow losers lost more than this. Im seeing my nut and surgeon in 4 days. Im following everything as prescribed by nut and surgeon. I'm logging my food. Cals are 700-900 per day. Protein at 65-80 gms daily. I'm exercising daily for 45-90 mins. Ive read other blogs online where RNY didn't work for people and they never really lost weight or it took them 2 years to lose 40 lbs when they needed to lose 120. Someone please share if they also started excruciatingly slow but then the…

Hello everyone , I just moved to SW Florida from rural North Carolina, and we are starting over from scratch. I have to find someplace to see doctor about my RNY I had 3/21/13 Last weigh in I was over 100 pounds lost. My thing is I have had to get back on track since all the upheaval . Some times I feel like I ate way to much and I have a fear I have stretched my pouch too much. Others I feel like I cant eat at all. I also have problems with constipation really bad but I had that problem before for years. Anyone out there feel me ? I feel kind of alone when it comes to this issue.

It's out! No more band. I'm so happy. And surgeon was able to do the bypass even thOugh she said there was a lot of scar tissue and part of stomach is attached to my spleen. Going home from the hospital today. I highly recommend dr. Pratt at mass general in Boston. Surgery took 4 hours. I'm sipping liquids which seem to be going down without a problem. What's great is that I no longer feel like I have pressure in my chest. I'm so looking forward to losing weight and being healthy. The diabetes is gone too. Only have to take thyroid med from now on. It only Took five years to get the band out. I'm so happy. Feel free to ask me questions. I would love to know…

I called the insurance company last week and was told that my surgery was approved for January 16th. I waited a few days to hear from the surgeons office but didn't so I e-mailed them and they said they haven't received the paperwork back from the insurance company. How long should it take. We're talking a week n a half now. I got my hopes up and was extreamly excited but since nothing has come back I'm beginning to worry that maybe they gave me someone else's good news.

Hello to all, I am getting ready to begin this wonderful journey into my weight loss....excited, scary, intimidated, relieved...so many emotions. My husband is going to have the surgery as well but not until late Sept. / early October. Both of us are ready for a new beginning. I have an awesome support system. Family and friends that have had the procedure. But I still would like to have a mentor/buddy online as well... ANY TAKERS?

When I met my husband I was curvy, he says it's what he was attracted to at first sight. I noticed that he really hadn't been saying a whole lot about how I looked now and I thought it was strange but didn't give much thought. When I told him that reached 70 lbs lost, again, not much was said. So I pressed him for his thoughts. Now that I'm a baggy size 9 and feeling healthy he tells me I'm too thin and he would like me to put on 20 lbs. um what? For one, it's not possible to gain weight given the small amounts I'm restricted to eat. And two, why would I want to? I'm mere pounds from my goal weight and the size I was before children. I just can't do it, he'll have acce…

I just recently started looking into the RNY gastric surgery. I wanted lapband originally but found that it isn't right for me and my needs. I am confident in rny and very happy i may get it done. Still in early stages but i am so postive and ready for a lifestyle change. But no one around me supports it. All my family and friends keep telling me i'm making a mistake. I will be miserable, i'll hate not being able to eat junk food and fast food like i do everyday, they say i'll be sick all the time and will regret the surgery. No one thinks it's a good idea or even understands why i want it done so badly. My bmi is 47. i'm young, 21, but in need of a serious wake up call a…

After having Gastric Bypass surgery, I started having balance issues. Walking is becoming an issue. I use to be a avid bowler, now that's a thing of the past. I've seen every doctor I can think of. Cardio, Neuro, Ent, Eye, even my bariatric surgeon. No one can find out why I am experiencing this issue. Driving is even becoming an issue. The speed of the car makes me feel uneasy. I am having panic attacks while driving, especially on the freeway. Does anyone else out there have this issue? I would love to hear from you if you do. It feels like dizziness/lightheaded. The dr first said vertigo, but it's not that after all.
