Saw this today and loved it. You? 15 things Jesus Didn’t Say: “For God was so disgusted with the world and you that he gave his one and only Son.” “I have come to bring you a new religion.” “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have correct theology.” “If anyone would come after me, let him disparage all other religions and their followers.” “If you love me, you will regularly attend a church of your choice… within reason.” “Blessed are the tithers for they shall be called the children of God.” “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in Heaven after the earth goes up in flames and destroyed.” “You have heard it said, ‘Love your neighb…

After letting myself slide for the past month and not logging my food intake I have gained weight. I know I'm still preop and still below where I started but I never thought that the logging would be such a valuable tool. So as of today I'm logging everything I put in my mouth. Hopefully by having this set back now will help me realize that I need to log for me and not anyone else. No one is going to do it for me I have to do yr myself. Sorry, my rant is over.

Ok I am a little over 3 months post op. I have been doing very well and so far I am off almost all my meds.. My concern now is hair loss, I just started noticing it and of course I am losing it from the front where I can see it not from the back where it wouldn't bother me as much... My question is what can I do to slow it down or halt it all together

Ok so I need some help!! I am about 3 1/2 weeks post op and am still having a lot of issues with Nausea!! I will go a few days of being just fine and then will wake up one morning (this morning for example) sick as a dog!! I will take Zofran and other anti-nausea meds but nothing, medicine wise, is helping!! Anyone have any tricks or ideas of things I could do/try to help?? My problem is is when I'm nauseated I do not want to eat or drink anything so I'm sure that makes it worse! So I need things that help get rid of it quick or something I could do regularly to keep from getting nauseated to begin with?!

I am 3 years post op Gastric Bypass and over the last year I have been gaining. So far setting steady at a 46 pound gain. :'( I keep trying to lose it but instead I continue to gain. This is terrifying since I tried so hard to lose the weight in the first place. Anyone else going through this? I am needing some good encouraging ideas on how to rejump start my weight loss. Thanks!

I am scheduled for surgery Nov. 18th. This entire process from start to now has caused me to really re-evaluate people that I call friend. At this point I don't care if I end up with any. Seems that people like you better when you're doing bad. Has anyone else experienced this??

Had my band removed about 20 minutes ago. No revision yet. But I feel fine. Same day surgery. Walking and talking. No pain meds either. Leaving in a few minutes. Just in case anyone is doing this in a two step process.

I am a smoker. Not good, I know. However, I honestly don't think I can even cut down on smoking before my surgery in November 2013. Has anyone ever walked a mile in my shoes? If so, how did you make out? Thank you.

I had a long day of pre-op yesterday and today is my last day of real food. I start a 10 day liquid diet tomorrow and feel rather emotional about it. I'm excited because I've wanted this for so long, yet I'm scared that I won't be able to conquer this diet. I know that it is the one last hoop I must jump through, but it is such a long time to be strong. I'm trying to think like the bariatric team told me yesterday - this is my part in making my actual surgery a success (shrinking my liver so the surgeon can do his part with ease). Since misery loves company...who else is starting or doing the liquid diet?

Hi! I am working toward a band revision to a bypass. I had a sharp pain in my stomach and if anything at all uncomfortable with my stomach happens I think it's due to the band. I would like to know if anyone has experienced what it is like to have a band slip? Also since I am losing weight to prepare for the bypass I know my stomach is getting smaller. Would that cause any discomfort? I know I am overreacting, but I would ease my fears if someone could describe what a band slip would feel like. Thanks everyone!

So my boyfriend and I have been dating for almost three years now. He and his whole family are super into fitness so you can imagine my discomfort at family functions where I was the only big fat whale among a whole group of athletic gym rats. When I decided to have the surgery my boyfriend had a few questions but once he was convinced it was safe for me, he was very supportive. I just asked him not to tell anyone. Especially his judgmental mother. His mom hates me. And I mean HATES me. And i have no idea why. I'm pretty sure that its physically painful for her to say something nice to me. She was constantly dropping hints that I needed to lose weight. If I have an opi…

Well, here I am with my date for surgery and it's a lot further away than I had hoped but scheduled nonetheless. My date is July 3rd, 2013. I have my PreOp class on June 18th. They gave me two dates in June but both coincided with my sister's pregnancy dates (baby shower and birth) and since my mom will be taking care of both of us (in two different states) I waited on mine until July. It's not as quick as I had hoped but I'm glad it's scheduled and I'm on my way :-) Blessings, Chris

Hi, My surgery is just over two weeks away now (Nov 6th) and up until this weekend I didn't have too many nerves about this, just the usual sensible concerns, but now I'm starting to doubt my decision and I was wondering if this is just a normal phase? There is no doubt that I need to lose weight at 270 pounds, 5' 5'' and aged 49 I am really concerened about my health and mobility, especially in the future. I've been getting extra scared over the past year or so as my dad has type 2 diabeties and his health has really gone down in the past couple of years - he is now virtually housebound and extremly overweight and I can see myself going this way unless I do somethin…

I'm seriously considering RNY. I've now had a band that is 5 years old, unfilled and useless. My BMI is 55. I'm in a bad place. My husband is reluctant to see me go through the "diets", "life changes", "surgery" again. He saw me through the band surgery and two separate surgeries for total knee replacements, He doesn't want me to have WLS again because it completely disrupts his/our order of things. He also saw me eventually give up on the South Beach diet that my surgeon puts his patient's on. Does he have a point as far as my food addiction goes? With the Band I was "sober", then I fell off the wagon. All that work and money down the drain. He's afraid I can't do the RN…

I love encouraging others, but for once I am on the other side of the fence and looking for someone to come along side me as a mentor. I have a pen pal that has the same surgery date, Nov 5, 2013. It is great sharing our preop experiences. I hope to one day do the same, mentor someone.

I keep buying Halloween candy for my office. I do not eat it but another person in my office eats it like it is her last meal. She is overweight, does not try to diet and her trash can is full of wrappers everyday. I think I buy the candy and I am eating it vicariously through her. I keep losing weight and she keeps gaining weight and I think I am enjoying that fact. Now if she were dieting I would not be placing candy in front of her, I would be supporting her. My habit prior to surgery was to bring in donuts or bagels a couple of times a month. I know my department is missing my old habits. So am I a sick puppy? Surgery date 9/4/2013 HW 269 RYN 238, this week 203

And so the countdown beings until my surgery...38 days...17 hours (give or take a couple)... I wish I had found this sight prior to selecting a surgeon, but can anyone comment or provide feedback on Dr/Mr Michell? I have seen all the comments on bad breathe - any suggestions on dealing with this? Anyone had leaks that you can share experience on? I order a book from the US called "The Big Book on the Gastic Bypass: Everything you need to know, to lose weight and live well with eth RNY Gastric Bypass Surgery. Hope to have it next week and happy to share thoughts on it with all of you when it arrives.

Hello! I would like to hear from anyone that is or know someone else that is/had an apple shaped body. I am in the process of band removal to RNY. I have an apple shaped body meaning that my arms and legs are already thin but my upper body (torso) is very rounded. It is there on the upper body in which I carry my weight. I know I would probably need plastics on the lower abdominal, but can anyone else relate to what I'm saying? will things fall into place?

Hello Everyone, I had my gastric bypass surgery 8/7/13 and I've been doing fine but I have a few questions. 1. I was hardly able to eat a thing right after surgery. Now I can eat at least double or triple what I could after surgery. Should my ability to eat have increased this much already? I feel like I stretched it out already or something lol. Yes I know that's paranoid but I'm still stressing over it. 2. Nothing seems to really bother me to eat so far, I have been lucky.....or not lucky depending on how you look at it. What is the real deal on fruit? I see so much conflicting information about it. I had some watermelon 2 days ago and it was soooo good.…

Let me preface this by saying I have had great success so far and am quite happy with my progress. In no way do I feel like a slow loser. But... I also keep wondering if I will really ever lose all this weight? My stomach (mainly the lower part) is barely going down in size, which makes me wonder if maybe I will have this big lower stomach forever and maybe never get smaller than an 18 or 16 in jeans? I wear an xl-xxl shirt depending on the maker, but can't help but think this is it, though I need to lose about 60 more pounds. So, to those who have been there- are these thoughts normal? Did anyone wonder if they would never get there, but did? Does anyone else feel like…

OMG I am really excited to have found these! I'm sure a lot of you know about them but I just discovered them. For those who haven't tried them, they are protein bars that taste good, are extremely low in sugar (2-3 grams), very satisfying and 20 grams of protein! Best of all, the original line has NO sugar alcohols whoo hooo! I really dont want to have two shakes a day forever and, I wanted something I could travel with when necessary. Awesome!

I've heard that after RNY, immediately and for life, that you have to take vitamins, supplements and other pills I can't come up with a name for. * Is this true? * examples? * why * and my immediate fear, cost? * I know about the protein.
