Anyone have a band slip?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am working toward a band revision to a bypass. I had a sharp pain in my stomach and if anything at all uncomfortable with my stomach happens I think it's due to the band.

I would like to know if anyone has experienced what it is like to have a band slip? Also since I am losing weight to prepare for the bypass I know my stomach is getting smaller. Would that cause any discomfort?

I know I am overreacting, but I would ease my fears if someone could describe what a band slip would feel like.

Thanks everyone!

I had no pain with my slip. It was ridiculous reflux 24/7 (like out your nose in the middle of the night) and couldn't eat ANYTHING, after a couple days I could only sip hot tea slowly, even Water came back.

HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4

I didn't even know mine had slipped. Just got PO'd at the WLcenter that I was going to so went to a new doctor and he found it. Had it out 5/23/13 and thank goodness still maintaining the weight I had lost. Having bypass, hopefully, in Sept or Oct.

I had a slip back in May. It felt a lot like what SoccerMomma described. Bad reflux and spitting up just about everything you try to eat. I actually had surgery to "fix" it and have been doing horrible since. I just talked to my surgeon yesterday about switching to RNY as I just don't think the band is right for me and my reflux is coming back. He's all for it so we will see. I'll be happy to be done with the band.

I have had 3 band slips and with each one there was pouch dilation and had and still do get reflux really bad. Met with a new surgeon and looking at switching to the roun-y. Was told once u get the first band slip ur chance of it happening again is 80%.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
