Well, It does if you don't think about it everyday. I mean it is a daily task and change, but think of it as a positive change in your life and it will go by fast. Don't dread the changes it is something that will help you and do what you have been wanting in life. It is almost waiting for Christmas day as you want to open gifts or see the children open them. Then the day is here and the gifts are open and then you say...That is it? Okay I say this but I am in the slow days..I just try to think that way. Welcome and I am also new. I have found this sight at times overwhelming with a lot of information and I have found it to be very supportive.

Time will fly by. Before you know it, you will be waking up from surgery.

Thank you both for responding! I've wanted this so bad for a while now but never had the courage to do it until now. I had no idea the process was so long!

Is not long.. it all depends.. on the results of the tests and x rays.. if everything is ok.. you will found it fast.. like in my case i did not pass the sicologist evaluation and they send me to take 6 months of counseling.. but every case is different. Just be calm and dont give up.. then they found a bacteria in my stomac so the whole process took me 2 yrs.. because i gave up in the middle of the process.. but please dont give up.. i am 3 weeks out of surgery and lost 25 pounds already.. i feel good and im happy with my desicion...good luck.

Welcome and congrats on taking these first steps!

I dont want to discourage just being real to my exp so far....I started my 6 month program Jan 8ish my surgery date is Oct 30 so 6 has turned into almost 11....why mainly scheduling just because they say once a month that could end up being 5 to 6 weeks between appts. Also depends what your program entails, I had to wait a extra month just to get appt with psych, than once I got all my green lights I had to wait another 3 weeks for appt with surgeon his first available surgery date was 5 weeks from that.

I has not felt like it has flown by like everyone keeps telling me maybe when all is said and done and I look back I will feel different, but in the moment no ...when I went into it thinking wow 6 months ill be done by July and every delay made me am emotional rollercoaster. But I just kept my eye on the end result knowing whether 6 months or a year I will get there and worked everyday on my program they outlined, trying every Protein and many recipes lol

Your 6 months could fly by with no delay because as you will see on here everyones program is a bit different but dont set yourself up to be disappointed either

There are many people who all the stars align and are able to schedule their surgery soon after the required diet is completed. Others, like me, had circumstances beyond our control and it took longer. Make the best of your preop time. Start making gradual changes to ease yourself into your new lifestyle. Start tracking everything that goes into your mouth. I use MyFitnessPal. I initially set my goal to maintain my current weight at the time. Just being more aware of what I ate was a big change. Portion size was my next goal. Just shaving 100 or so calories off each day, I started to lose gradually. As time went on, I cut out caffeine and carbonated drinks. Once I started seeing the Nut from the bariatric clinic, I made even more changes like separating drinking from eating. 10 months later, I felt really ready.

Now, I'm 2 weeks post op and I feel that I had enough time to get all my ducks in a row in my forever lifestyle. No regrets.

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I just started my 6 month process and I can't wait for the time to get here....I have severe gerd and a hiatal hernia and my surgeon advised me to have rny instead of the surgery for just the hernia...

I am starting my journey too. Got my referral from my pcp on Wednesday and my appointments at the Mayo clinic with the endocrinologist, nutritionist and psych on the 30th and 31st. Completely changing my eating on Monday to 2 shakes and one meal a day. I believe I only have to do a 3 month diet supervised by doc. Welcome everyone. I have learned a lot from reading this forum. Thank you all for your support.

Hi I started mines and tried to cram in all the doctors and appointments at once ... That definitely made everything go by faster... The exams and the poking and all of that is definitely exhausting but once you have all those clearance letters in your hand it feels great and you'll be one step closer to beginning your new life

It is so true. Shaving off things that were ""extra" is really helpful. I have started to lose some weight as I need to be 5% of my total to actually get to the next steps. I am so anxious now and worry something might come up. I have to see the psych on Monday and need to have 2 more lbs off. I don't know which I worry more. LOL. I know that I am crazy, but don't really want someone to tell another person. I am on a journey that I want to see the scenery and such around me with different eyes.
