Hello everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know I have been submitted to insurance as of today. Now I just have to wait and see what happens. I am hoping for a February surgery date but who knows how long my decision is going to take but at least I am on my way!!

  3. I'm three weeks post op and have bronchitis. I was looking for relief options without sugar, when my Gawd...that zinger pickle revealed itself to me. I took it slow, chewing carefully and it was not only fantastic tasting, the salt seems to have helped my throat. passing it along.

I have had migraines for several years. They have been very well controlled with daily medication for nearly 18+ months. Since I had bypass surgery, my migraines have been out of control. I am getting 2 to 3 severe migraines every week at this point. No changes to my daily medicine routine. Anyone else experience this? Carrie

  6. Im disappointed. Just got phonecall from insurance company to say I've been declined. My comorbidites are not serious enough. So...my only option is self pay. My surgery will be 22k. It's serious money. My bank has pre approved a personal loan to pay for the surgery which is great...but I'll be paying this back for years. Has anyone else self-paid a large amount and had no regrets?

I've been carb sensitive since day 1. I work around it and occasionally suck it up and deal with it because there are times where I'm just gonna eat it. Period. (And when I say eat it, it's not really bad stuff....it's a bowl of oatmeal or occasionally a cookie). I've always been curious about dumping off fats. Seemed weird to me! I understood the sugar crash from carbs and symptoms associated with it, but the fat thing sounded different. Well, Waffle House kicked my butt this a.m. And I now know the miseries of dumping off fats. My butt is not amused. (Although, overall, it's not as miserable as carb dumping, at least for me). (FYI cheesie scrambled eegs and bacon…

Hi everyone! I am fairly new to these boards, and absolutely love reading the journeys that are being taken on a daily basis! I have been banded for about 6 years and am having a revision later this year. My surgeon and I had originally thought that the sleeve was the best option for me, but now (long story short) a bypass might be in my best interest. My question to all of you bypass patients is, what made you choose bypass? Was it your only option, or did you also consider the sleeve. I'm totally not here to judge or contradict, but am simply still in the information gathering phase of a life altering decision! I have gone from being completely terrified of EIT…

Then behind my back tells everyone I took the easy way out. I dont know about you guys but this isnt easy. I love the process but I dont think its easy.

I know this should be the least of my concerns at the point in the game (I'm 5 weeks out), but going to the movies and getting an ICEE candy, and popcorn was always my special treat to myself duringy social outing. It didnt happen often so it really was a treat. Now, my friend and I, are doing thos really big special movie premiere (I'll be about 8 weeks)and I know I'm going to have a hard time coping not having anything I can really munch on. It doesnt help that my kryponite was chocolate prebypass. Does anyone have suggestions on foods I can bring in to satisfy my munch for the movie? Perhaps somthing you've had this far along you get at the theaters?

I'm scared, I'm anxious, I'm excited, I'm worried, I'm eager to get it over with, I'm keen, I'm optimistic, I'm looking forward to better health, I'm impatient to buy gorgeous clothes again, I'm long in to get back to living a more active and involved life. On a serious note...I do worry about recovery, the post op pain, getting the Protein in and getting the post op diet right and I don't want to lose my hair. I'm sure most people have or had the same feelings. Wish me luck. Xx

Hi! Just need some advice. I had surgery Monday. Came home Tuesday. All was pretty good until Thursday night when I started having this burning pain in my left lower abdomen. If I try to get up and move it hurts so bad it makes me cry. No fever or vomiting or anything else that seems wrong. Called the surgeons office Friday morning, the PA said it sounds like I have an inflamed nerve that runs alongside a tethering stitch that they put in. He said it can cause referred pain all over the abdomen. It feels like someone lit me on fire. So I am to lay still and Ice my abdomen and hopefully the inflamed nerve will calm down in a few days. So I laid all day yesterday, except f…

  31. I'm new here and I'm actually doing this for my daughter, but I had Roux-en-y in 2003 so I could also use some good suggestions. (If I should be in a different forum please let me know) My daughter is trying to find a Protein drink that she will like. She likes chocolate, fruit punch & lemonade & that's about it. She's been able to try a few but since they are usually very expensive she can't afford to buy something, not like it & then throw it away. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I wonder if anyone else has had the problem I'm having and what you've done about it. My surgeon, dietitians, and GP haven't given me much help on this. When I try to eat a cooked chicken breast, hamburger patty, pork tenderloin or chop, or turkey, my stomach instantly gets queasy. But if I have chicken breast meat in a recipe like (my favorite) Panang Curry or homemade chicken Soup, I have no problem with the meat. Same goes for hamburger. When I saute it and put it in my chili, I have no problem. I've tried to be sure to chew the solid food well, but nothing seems to make a difference. Consequently, I can't eat very much meat unless I have something like the curry or c…

I definitely need more time off there. Any suggestions from those who have already been through it? My surgery is on jan 21.

I am 2 months out from RNY. 60 lbs down from highest weight. 307 to 247. Exercise daily. I have noticed when standing a pain between my shoulder blades. Not as prevalent when sitting. Anyone else notice this? Thanks!

  36. Started by prettynpink,

Hi guys I was hoping I could maybe find some answers on here. I had rny on August 26 and I'm having really bad middle abdominal pain and nausea after eating for the past 2 days. I feel colicky, like my intestines are twisting. Even drinking water hurts. It's not like full pouch pain or food getting stuck, I experience d that when I had an ulcer but this is different and in the center of my abdomen mostly on the right side. I took the gallstone pills for the first 3 months so maybe it could be that? Has anyone experienced this?

  37. Started by layne729,

Just wondering what everyone likes to drink after RNY. I've been sticking to water, crystal light and coffee. Missing the carbonated drinks even sparkling water but that's a NO NO I know. :-) thanks!

Anyway, tonight for supper I made a low carb spinach lasagna which was amazing and a regular lasagna for the family with garlic knot rolls. I thought I'd have a half of the roll, well it seemed to go down so easy I thought I would have the other half. And they were BIG rolls too!! Ummmm big mistake!!! I got up from the table and told my husband I needed to lay down a few minutes before cleaning the kitchen. That few minutes was more like 30 seconds and I hit the bathroom and got so sick!!! I vomited, heart was r…

I am 9 months post-op, down almost 100lbs. I have amped up my workouts. My question is, how much water can I consume at one time...? How about in 1 hour? When I am in dance class, or playing racquetball, it is easy for me to drink 8-12 oz in less than an hour. Am I overdoing it? I haven't had any problems and I am consious when I drink to not gulp (drink slowly) but am I drinking too much? Thanks

I cut my hair off today. It was kinda hard to do but I just thought I had to do something. The hair loss hasn't let up much and I'm nearing 7 months post op. It does look healthier and the bare spots around the top where I can see the scalp some isn't as bad. I always meet my protein goals, have taken biotin and prenatals. Idk if the miscarriage and anesthesia from the d&c made it worse or what. So when did it stop for u guys that are further out? I do have a few tiny sprouts of new growth but I'm still steadily losing lots of hair. I'd still do this again even if it meant I had to be bald..however id like to keep my hair when does it stop?

I am new to this site. I am now 7 days post surgery. When I started the whole process I was at my HW of 391. DOS was 388. DOR was 372 & this morning was 359! I am on the plan that "solid foods" are still 4 weeks out. "Mush foods" are about 2 weeks out. While I am not usually hungry, I still find I want some food satisfaction! I am getting SOOOOOO tired of protein shakes and the limited liquid diet stuff!!! Any good ideas???

Hi everyone. I am writing this so some of you won't be disappointed. I went in for my band to bypass revision yesterday (Monday) and I was so excited. When I was in recovery they told me the bypass didn't happen. When they went to remove the band there was a lot of scar tissue an tears so they removed the band and closed me up. It would have been dangerous for them to do it cause they needed to cut where the band was, of course I started crying. I can have it in 6 weeks but my surgeon will be on Christmas vacation and she is talking January. With Obama care I have to reapply for insurance and I may have to start the process all over again. Good luck yo all of you.
