I've been putting together a list of foods that i learn can be eaten for the past couple of days. I was wondering if anyone has gone back to bbq, steak, sushi, spicy foods....and how long out are yall from your surgery? One of my last meals pictured below. Spaghetti squash, chicken, broccoli, tomatoes...was lovely with a fresh green juice. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

So i had my bypass dec 4 2014 the next day I woke up throwing up blood bc the surgeon didn't close me up on the inside. So I had to have emergency surgery to correct. Then 2 weeks later I had my gallbladder taken out. When he did that he cut my intestines and bile got out. I went septic after a week. Had 2 abdominal adhesions. Had draining tubes in for 3 weeks. Now I'm 18 months out and having server abdominal pains if I go a few hours with out eating. Is that normal and I have a really hard time eatting actual food. Has anyone gone from losing weight to become someone new and wants a new life? For example working retail then going to school or going to school to be a nurse but became a fitness instructor? I have not had my surgery and I'm in school but I'm not sure if im really into it. I have a child and want to be able to afford for us but I feel like im stuck bc I am obese and can't get new beginnings bc people judge me all I can do is go to school. So I guess I'm really asking is after gastric bypass does it open more doors for careers? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Original: So, on Thursday, I was going for my daily hourly walk when I was drinking Water and my stomach began to badly cramp. It literally felt like my stomach was being squished and I had to stop at a gas station to use the rest room. What I thought would be just a regular bowl movement was dark red blood, no stool, just blood. This alerted me so I got a ride home and took a long rest. The next day, I began having chest pains on and off and didn't have a bowl movement all day. Today, I have had a few chest pains and a headache, dizziness upon standing, weakness and bouts of diarrhea in which the last one was a bit bloody. I have no idea what's going on. Has a…

Hi ladies, I had my surgery on May 13. A week before surgery I had my period, then got it again 2 days after surgery, and have not had one since. When I talked to my PA, she said that because of the hormones and me losing weight time it can be out of wack for a bit and said if I am co concerned I should go see my Obgyn. I know everything there was good before surgery so what is Obgyn going to do for me? I guess I was just kind of annoyed by that comment. Have any of you had this? When did your period return?

Hey everyone? How is everyone doing? Blessed and doing great I pray. Well my question is how long was your hospital stay with your procedures? I supposed to be having gastric bypass surgery but they only put a one night hospital stay. I thought , well assumed that the gastric sleeve procedure is one night while the gastric bypass was two? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks; -)

So... I'm 9 years post - band and awaiting a surgery date for RNY - I didn't realise I had any issues apart from GERD until we did a fill under x-ray/fluro and found a massively dilated oesophagus ????, all of a sudden it was empty band, a worried surgeon and talking 'other options'.. I've never been so miserable! Anyway I'm getting all set for the revision and I'm fine with the potential complications. .. BUT has anyone had a dumping experience at work or in public - that's my only fear... Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

I know everyone is different, but.... I'm having my surgery on the 21st, I have a client going out of state on the 23rd and I'm staying at her house to pet sit her dogs. Luckily, I don't have to walk them, they just play in the backyard. I'm really hoping I'm not in a lot of pain. All I really do is sleep over night there, I'll be home during the day (with my dogs). I'm just really nervous that I'm going to be in pain and uncomfortable staying at someone elses house the first week after my surgery.

I was sleeved 11/11/15 and am down 80# from my heaviest weight. At 184.8 I am still considered "obese" according to BMI. I'm 5'5" so when I get to 180 I will officially be just "overweight". Then it's another 30# to go to be I. The "normal" category. I worry that will be much too thin but for now am glad to still be losing (even slowly).

I succumbed to my salty crunchy wants and ate a small handful of peanuts. My friend said I'm not allowed to eat that until after 3 months post-op. I'm only 2 weeks out. No issues or pain but I can hear my tummy rumble a little. I knew I shouldn't have but didn't think it would be that big of a deal considering I ate very slowly. Should I worry? Should I call the doc and admit to my mischievous? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Someone please reassure me, as today my nerves are wrecked and I'm pretty worried that I'm always going to feel like I've been run over and forcing down Protein shakes. I keep thinking "what have I done???" I had band to bypass on 4/9. I think the early recovery has been typical as far as pain. I walked plenty, I took 9 days off work. I'm on stage 2, which for my doctor is simple puréed foods, liquids and Protein Shakes. Here's my fear: after my 5th Protein shake they all make me nauseous. I'm barely getting them down and I fee so, so run down. I need to work and I travel for work a lot. Perhaps I need to research other protein sources or someone has some good ideas?…

Hello Decembelles, how is everyone doing? I hope you are doing as well as I do on your journey. I am recovering very well, the incisions are healing nicely and they are not as big as I expected. Around the incision sites, the bruising is showing now. With the procedure of the RNY they discovered and fixed a hiatal hernia as well. I tire easily but I am off my pain meds already. At times it feels uncomfy, but it doesn't warrant a liquid narcotic medicine. Walking is the key to a speedy recovery. I am wondering why I feel dizzy during the day sometimes. I know that I am eating, or drinking for now about 500 cal until I hit day 14 post-op. Then I will start wonderful pur…

So I had a band for 5 years until it slipped and wash removed a year ago. I went with RNY and am 1 week post op. So, I thought it would be an easy transition but the fullness feels different and I don't know my stop signals anymore. With my band it was a runny nose or a heavy sigh. Also having a year without anything put me back into some pretty bad habits on portion and speed eating. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

Hiya All, Am 6 weeks post surgery tomorrow. I have lost 38 lbs in the 6 weeks, which I am really happy about. At point of referral 30 months ago I was 289lbs...On day of surgery I was 235lbs, I had my surgery to help my severe insulin resistant diabetes...which is has! I hadn't realised that following surgery I would have so much loose skin on my stomach that I have. The weight loss before surgery didn't make my skin loose, I recognise that losing 38lbs in 6 weeks is quicker than my previous loss. I am eager to try to firm up this area and wondered when people started to exercise following surgery, I'm hoping to start some light cardio at home on a cross trainer or …

Well, pain got the best of my head and I fell back to old habits! I have been making very poor choices on eating and haven't been able to exercise much. So, I come here to write this knowing it will be here for all to see and comment on. This way I know I will do something about it. Fortunately I haven't gained any weight, but I haven't lost any either. So, today I will take time to write up a plan and start all over again Monday morning.

I keep having the horrible " episodes" . My upper stomach hurts so bad I can't stand up. So very painful. It peaks with me needing to violently throw up, but nothing ever comes up. Even times where I had just eaten 20 minutes ago. There is no rhyme or reason to these attacks. One while driving where I hadn't eaten in three hours, one at night after eating two hours prior. One mid day after doing laundry, had just eaten.....I went to the emergency room last night cause the latest attack lasted two hours. By the time the doc came to see me, I was feeling a better. They ruled out that i wasn't dying and sent me on my way. . I am still fighting to see my surgeon. What would …

I suffered with lap band for about 8 years and finally decided to get it converted to RNY last year. I had the surgery July 15th, so tomorrow will be exactly 10 months. I think progress is going a little slower for me because 1) this is a conversion, and 2) I have PCOS and have historically not been able to lose weight on anything other than long term starvation. Even that wasn't working by the time I converted. As of this morning, I've lost 78 lbs and feel wonderful. I started at 275, so I'm finally comfortably in ONE-DERLAND! If you're hesitating to convert for any reason, I say DON't. Here are before and after pictures. I'm on the right, next to my sister in the…
