I had my surgery on 9/2/2015 so I am almost a year out. I started at 311 lbs and now, only after nearly a year, I am at 255...? I gained weight, I was 248...I don't understand how this happened. I walk everyday for an hour, I do light exercise in my house for 30 minutes, I take all my Vitamins and get in all my Protein and fluids, I only have six small meals a day, less than a cup of food. Why am I stuck at 255? Why did I experience a sudden drop and weight and then a gain and now I am stuck? I don't know if this has happened to anyone else but if so, help. I know I am having issues of bleeding from my rectum on and off, I've had it since February but my doctor isn…

So when I had my sleeve done 6/8, I recall asking the nutritionist if I'd be able to eat regular food for our family's annual 4th of July trip to Vegas. She assured me I would. So flash forward to last Wednesday, my 3 week surgiversary and the day before our trip. I'd heard about 3-week stalls and I was a little apprehensive, but I was 39 pounds down and feeling confident. This weekend I had only one Protein drink. I ate pretty much what I wanted to, including a frozen lemonade and a slice of key lime pie. I had oysters and fish and ribs and chicken and even a little potato puree and some grits with my redfish at Emeril's. I had a Philly cheesesteak slider, but I did n…

I haven't received my surgery date yet but I'm on track to have it mid August. I'm a little nervous about how my co workers will react to my dramatic weight loss. I asked my social worker what I should tell people who ask how I lost my weight so fast. She told me to just respond by saying I've made "Lifestyle Changes." I could say that but the 2 weeks off from work are gonna seem a little suspicious. I've told 3 of my close friends who also work for me and they've gone almost six months without saying anything. Ive been working at my job for over a year and my coworkers know me as the girl who's frequently dieting and working out. Ive lost 50 lbs all while working at the …

I hate sounding like a snob- I'm not- but the Salvation Army stores are just plain yuck. The clothes are all musty smelling and often dirty still. Is it worth it? Tips and tricks? So I'm planning on surgery sometime in September. I am also planning on going back to school...Liberty University Online...in August. The classes of course are all online but can be pretty intense. Do you think I'll be fine after surgery to keep up with my online classes? Classes consist of a lot of reading and paper writing. I started my journey less than 2 months ago. April 26th to be exact. I am newly insured because of my new job so I immediately jumped on the opportunity to see if having gastric bypass was an option and would my insurance (BCBSNC) approve. So, yes they approve it but their is a deductible. My journey is very time sensitive because I work for my local health department and the county commissioners are changing the insurance July 1. The new insurance doesn't cover. So with that being said, I need put my ass in gear and attend required nutrition classes, psych evaluation, support group meeting, so low carb, loose the amount of weight suggested and pray for my insurance to ap…

I completed the program officially now on June 30th and my end of program appointment is July 6th. Hi all I am 52 days out from surgery and have lost 41lbs since I have my roux en y. I am so happy about that, let me give a bit of history.. I was a bit of an experiment for my hospital as in my target dieting for eligibility for surgery I lost 56lbs which took my BMI to 30 which was below my hospitals threshold..but after my team argued they granted surgery. My 6 week post op check was this week, they said I wasn't eating enough Protein, and I had been struggling with getting Water in, they also said that losing 41lbs was a bit quicker than they would usually anticipate and they thought I was a month or so ahead. I had the surgery to help me completely out of control…

So my insurance is crazy. I started the process to get my band to bypass conversion back in October 2015. Bariatric is covered but I had to do a six month supervised diet and a bunch of other hoops. I jumped through all the required hoops. The insurance lady at the surgeon's office submitted everything at the end of May and went ahead and gave me a June 28th surgery date. June 20th, ActiveHealth sends a letter approving band removal and denying bypass. My surgeon has been out of town, but comes back Monday. She is going to do a peer-to-peer on Monday to see if we can overturn the decision and still have my surgery Tuesday. I am a nervous wreck and have been on the sta…

Since my surgery, my blood sugar levels have been dropping a lot. Today when I woke up it was 70. I had 6 ounces watered down orange juice then an hour later a premier Protein shake. Three hours later my blood is 80. My questions are: Will a glucose tablet cause dumping syndrome? I am still on pureed foods, so what would be good to eat that won't cause other problems? 36. Hello! Good morning. I truly feel like the RNY is the right surgery for me. I've done so much research and am confident in my decision. My center is pushing the Sleeve, though. One of the reasons is because of my age. I am 29. I will be nearly 30 when I have the surgery. I know there are many others my age that have had the bypass. My doctor has said that I'm healthy enough for bypass, but that he recommends all of his younger patients to have the less invasive surgery. Did anyone go against their surgeon's recommendation to have bypass?

I started this process with a BMI of 39.2. Basically, it was suggested to gain 7 pounds to reach the magic number of 40 BMI. I've been holding steady at 40.2 for 2 months now. This month I will go for my 3rd appt with Dietitian and I have my Surgeon consult Tmro. Oh and a funny thing happened with gaining the 7 lbs, my cholesterol went from 217 in June to 143 in September, Dr had no explanation for me.

So my insurance calls me today on my break and informed me that my doc didn't submit a full 90 days on the program. I need one more appointment for the month of June. Thank God I was able to schedule an appointment on June 30th. Then I have to do an end of program appointment with my doc to discuss my progress on the program and surgery in general. That appointment is going to be on the 6th hopefully. Then they will be able to submit the rest of the information to insurance and hopefully an approval with another surgery date. I was praying to keep my July 11th date but I will have to wait a little while longer. Just my little vent for the day... :-(

I am 11 months out from my gastric bypass. I thought it would be nice to have some raw carrots as a snack. They seemed to go down just fine, but I have spent the last 24 hours unable to keep anything down. It felt like a brick was stuck in my stomach. I am finally better, but I wanted to warn other folks about how indigestible raw carrots are when you eat too many of them. I've dropped 3 pounds in 24 hours thanks to those suckers. I have learned my lesson. Has anyone else had a similar experience with a different raw vegetable?
