Hi All! My surgery is June 20th. I am very excited, same as all of you. I am totally cool with staying in touch via Facebook or through the forums here or private messages. I have a few people I am friends with that I met either through my pre-surgery classes at Kaiser or here on Bariatric Pal. It's super helpful to share tips, etc. from those who have had the surgery. This forum is great because we are going through this pretty much at the same time. Love it.

your date will be here so fast. i was thinking omg that's so far away and then i was thinking omg it got here so fast. lol

I was wondering where this thread went :). Surgery is on the 16th,my nerves are setting in!

I'm waiting anxiously. I am on day 8 of this liquid diet. Only a few more to go before my date of June 18th. We can do it!

I had surgery on Monday was having lots of pain especially in the back. Thought I was going home today when surgeon told me she was rolling me back to OR bc white blood count and heart rate too high. Sure enough they found 600 ml of dried blood. Now I have a drain and hope to go tomorrow.

Geez!! Hope you're feeling better!!

Thanks lovesmeskinny. Feeling a little tired but so glad my surgeon listened to her gut!!!

I am home from the hospital. Had surgery yesterday afternoon. Doctor found a 2 inch tumour on my liver. So surgery was stopped while they waited for biopsy results. Thankfully it was negative. Just a benign tumour. The roux en y surgery went smoothly. I am having discomfort, but nothing major. I am on one ounce of clear liquids every 20 mins. And I have to force it down, I am not hungry at all. A bit nauseous, had some dry heaves, but they didn't hurt like I feared. The worst part is the ground up meds in liquid. Quite nasty. I also have a drain in, but I don't even feel it there.

I have no idea how much I weigh right now. I am doing my surgery in Costa Rica. I was 260 when I got on the plane last Saturday. And was 253 on Monday during pre op. I am in my hotel until Tuesday when I get to fly home to canada.

thats great that it's benign. i was crushing up meds and trying them with liquids and/or applesauce and i was having a horrible time.

Well I'm still in the hospital since initial surgery on Monday. My abdomen hurts and lower back pain excruciating pain. But doc gonna keep me one more day but up my meal to phase 2 - full liquids.

I want to go home so badly.

@@masonjk38 So sorry you're struggling some but try to be patient so you set yourself up for the best success! I had surgery on Monday too and thought of you as I laid there waiting for surgery. I was scheduled for 1:00 too but the surgeons were delayed with other surgeries and ended up not going in until 5:00. My doc found my hiatal hernia was larger than expected but fixed it up while he was in there.

Stick with the plan, follow the doctor's orders and know that this is just a small blip in the long journey. I'll be thinking of you and wishing you all the best!

and a little jealous about the full liquids. I know I'll be able to get my Proteins in when I can drink shakes instead of this nasty clear Protein junk. :)

I am 3 days post-op and I agree Protein Shakes are glorious, Ginger Snaps. They had me try to move to the thicker liquids like cream Soup, pudding and yogurt. Those hurt a lot. Sat there for an hour after each one in pain after only getting an ounce down. Be grateful they are progressing you slowly. It will make the next stage that much better. (All in my head but wow, broth never tasted that good before.) I am going to take my time and enjoy my broth and shakes for now.
