Well , very soon I will be able to join the rest of the revisioners .... On Friday July 15th I start my 2 week pre op diet . Time to say good bye to my dearly loved coffee, the rest I am fine with . This past Monday I had my final preop with the surgeon . That was fine , although he did have to attempt to make sure my band was empty which was not the most pleasant experience since we already knew the port has a lot of scar tissue, and as it was suspected there was no Fluid in my band . I am excited and cant wait for the 29th to get here . I am ready to start this next journey and be rid of this weight ! I have read the posts that the worst part of the recovery is …

I was just wondering people's experience with the Pure Protein bars (Costco). Why do they suggest on the package to drink 8oz of water with the bar? I'm 7 months post rny and was able to eat the whole bar (did not follow the package and did not drink water)... It was pretty tasty too.

Hi! I had a gastric bypass here in Houston, TX back in November of 2015 - on the 24th to be exact! A day before Thanksgiving! I didn't see a running post for November Bypassers so if you know of one, please send me the link so I can see others' progress! Can you list your starting weight, your loss a few months later, and your loss right now in July 2016? Curious how we all are doing! I know each of us will be different depending on a lot of factors, but I'd love to see if we are similar too! Me - I'm 41 years old, mom of 3 - had a FT job Weighed 234 on Nov 24th, 2015 Weighed 200 on March 5th, 2016 Weight 169.6 today, July 1st, 2016. My goal is 135 but I'…

I'm having a hard time getting my Water in, but I love ice tea, but not these sweeteners. If I make a gallon of tea, and put 1/2 cup of sugar in it. Would that hurt me ? Has anyone did this with good results. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

I am week 4+ and loving it. I was scared to go out at first (not sure of what maybe being sick). I just take a freezer lunch bag with yogurt, Protein liquid gel, or anything I may need. Oh and a big thing of Water. I got to start soft foods early because i became lactose intolerant. Hope that goes away. Other than making myself get out (cause of tiredness) I am so happy. Losing weight and going down sizes + the thought that this is just the beginning. No more yoyoying weight ---- all down from here!!!! I have never had that feeling before. I had a 2 week preop shake diet too and am down 32 lbs since that started. Anyone else excited with stories? Please share. Sent fr…

Ok, so, I go to my 1 year post op, and I am down 170. Go me. Anyways, I tell the nurse that I have to eat like 4 or 5 times a day to get enough Protein in because I hate food and can't force myself to get it down. So she says, we need to resolve this, and acts like its pretty important. THEN... they take my stats 102/106 with a heart rate of 48 and poof, my food issues are a non-issue. They are sending me to a cardiologist. My appointment is in August. I had high blood pressure when I was fat. But the more I lose, the lower my pulse gets. And my log since my checkup is this: 102/62 hr 50 102/68 hr 48 106/57 hr 50 107/64 hr 65 117/75 hr 48 So... the cardiolog…

I'm 4 weeks post op and I am really struggling mentally. I love food, which is partially why I am in the place I'm in. I'm at the point where I don't know why I even eat. To get Protein -- I'll have a shake. There is no joy in eating anymore. It is just a chore. There is no flavor left by the time I am done chewing. My food gets cold by the time I am done eating it. I just don't feel like eating anymore. I don't want to go through the hassle of cooking and eating 1/4 cup. I just wish I could eat normal foods, just less of it. Maybe eventually I can, but then I'm afraid I'll fall right back into a hole. I'm just depressed I guess. Food made me happy and now…

Hi all- I'm curious if anyone experiences "hunger" the way I do. Not head hunger- I don't get that any longer 3+months out. I'm talking REAL hunger. Pre op hunger was rumbling stomach, etc. Now, if I am late for a meal, I'm talking a couple of hours for whatever reason, it is actually a burning pain, and it hurts! The only way to get rid of it is to eat. Obviously, I don't do this to myself on purpose, but there have been times when I've been caught off guard and tied to something I couldn't leave to eat. Usually I carry a Protein bar or two with me for such occasions, but we all know life happens. So- back to my original question- what does REAL hunger from delaye…

At my 6 month post gastric bypass follow up my labs were all good except my GFR came back low. I have never had kidney issues before. I was thinking about trying to get more protein in from plant sources. If you are post GB surgery and are vegetarian are you able to get in the recommended grams of protein per day? If so what is your main source of protein? Thanks in advance.

So I know the topic of hair loss has come up a lot on this forum but I never really paid attention because I thought no way will that happen to me! Well at almost 3 months post-op it's happening. Don't get me wrong I will wear a wig happily if I have to but for those with experience with this I want to know if anyone has actually lost all their hair or gone patchy? I am a little over 6 weeks out and NUT moved me to 800 calories a day, and to increase fats if needed. I am getting in about 100 grams a day of Protein, and 50 grams of carbs, 25 grams fat a day. My NUT did not indicate the amount of carbs to insure I continue to lose at optimum levels. I am ramping up my daily gym workouts, as well as getting back on the bike, so I need complex carbs for energy, but do not want to over do it. Any direction, or is this mostly an individual thing, and why NUT did not give any direction? THX

So, most of my family and friends are excited for me.... but then there are those few that are constantly reminding me what can go wrong. . How hard it will be.. oh you'll have flabby skin.. your boobs will be thin and hang to your waist.. it's okay to cheat a little on your liquid diet, what if you lose weight and you arent pretty anymore.. ect ect. Yet, people at my work that know are sooo supportive! A few even offered to do a form of liquid diet during the day to support me at work. A bunch even offered to skip the ice cream social my work is having Monday... although I told them thank you but no.. it feels good to have their support. It's so weird to me that t…

So I had my four week follow up yesterday. After four weeks of shakes / sugar free beverages, Jello and popsicles I was super excited to see what the next step was. Mentally I was preparing for purees (they don't tell you ahead of time what the program is). Thankfully my surgeon doesn't require that step. Instead, they added seafood (minus shrimp), tofu, cheese and eggs. Here's the problem: the smell, taste and even thought of seafood makes me gag. I love shrimp and scallops, that is it. I don't eat tofu and I have the same problem with eggs as I do seafood. At first I was upset. I don't want to eat nothing but cheese. I'm already having issues going to the bathroom and…

I am 11 months out, and honestly, all food just has lost its appeal. Nothing sounds good. I hate mealtime. I sit down to eat and force every bite. I end up barely eating. If it weren't for protein shakes I would be sick. Is this normal? Anyone else hit this wall at maintenance phase? I seriously just don't want to eat. I'm so excited to finally be at this stage! The only thing I am most bummed about is that my nutritionist said I need to drink regular milk with my Protein shakes because I need the calories I have been drinking almond milk or soy milk for years... I will follow what she says though. I'm just excited to July 21st to get here and get this done and continue the next step of my journey!

I am 3 weeks post op. I stopped taking pain medicine after a couple days and have had no issues. I had my bypass on June 20th! First two weeks were fine. No problems meeting my fluid and protein goals. But this week I started the soft food stage and I'm finding it more difficult to meet my goals. I normally drink water like crazy, but now I have to force myself to drink it. I still don't feel hungry and can't "feel" what's going on in my new stomach. When eating pureed food I only eat 2 to 4 ounces at a time. I'm also very tired today. I've been forcing myself to walk on the treadmill, but it's getting more difficult! Anyone else having these problems?

Not sure what happened around 10 but I've been so hungry. I had toast and a Protein shake for Breakfast at 9 this morning and then at 11:30, I had half a sandwich and another Protein Shake. In between I am drinking my fluids. Had been drinking my fluids since last night. Anyway, I am in the process of finding another surgeon and another psychiatrist because the ones I have now are awful and I am on way too much medication.

I'm 11 weeks post RNY tomorrow. I've noticed that I'm developing a taste or a craving for carbs. I've been eating lots of fresh berries and melons and the luscious in season cherries but I'm starting to crave the bad carbs (mashed potatoes, Pasta, tortilla chips, etc). I rarely have an appetite but was wondering if others had this or any cravings. With meals I eat Protein first then veggies or fruit and get full before having a starch.
