Looking for Hamiltonians

Hi! I just joined today. I'm 41 years old, live in Ancaster and I'm in the preliminary stages of gastric bypass- research and referral. I'm looking for local women for support and information, preferably women who are going through or have gone through gastric bypass at St. Joe's in Hamilton. Is there a local group or anyone open to chat?

At this point I feel like I'm talking to myself but I will continue to do so in hopes that another Person having their surgery in Hamilton will see this. :) At this point, my Dr.'s referral to the Bariatric Centre is done. She planned blood work and a sleep study. Waiting to hear if OHIP approves me otherwise I'll likely self-pay. I'd love to connect with other Hamiltonians if you're out there.

Hello, I'm not from Hamilton but I'm not too far away. I live in Acton and am hoping to have the bypass this year. What procedure are you thinking of getting done?

Hello! I'm hoping for a gastric bypass. Early stages. I've had the referral and now I'm waiting for the orientation sessions. I have an apt for a sleep study but so far that's it. Where are you in the process?

I have to meet with the nutritionist next Friday and then hopefully they will tell me when I can meet the surgeon. I'm hoping to have the surgery by the end of the year but I think that's wishful thinking.

Let us know how the nutrition apt goes. Hopefully you'll see the surgeon soon. Have you done the psych apt? I'm curious how long from referral it took for you to get an orientation apt. I'm eager to start something! Lol

I believe my doctor sent in my referral in March and my first appt was in June. It's a very long process...

How did your appointment with the nutritionist go?

I am not from Hamilton, I am in Brampton . I started this journey in August 2014 . I have to complete a stress test and then hopefully meet with the surgeon.

Hey! My brother lives in Brampton so I know it well! You've already had your orientation and you started in August too!? Lucky you! Hey, we'll have to compare notes since we're beginning the process at the same time. Feel free to private message me if you want. :) good luck on the atress test. THAT'S the only thing that really freaks me out. How sad is that? Lol the exercise concerns me. You mean I have to mooooove!?!? ;)

Hi anewme2015, how is your progress so far? My surgery is scheduled for Jan 21st. Getting kind of nervous but also excited to finally start this journey.

Hey! Congrats on having a date! My process has been slow but apparently normal. I was referred early August and my orientation is December 22 at St. Joseph's even though I called weekly I couldn't get into an earlier orientation, which is a little frustrating but what can you do! I'm counting down the days now. I'm ridiculously eager! Lol hoping to move the other appointments along once I get them at the orientation.

Keep me posted on how things go. It seems many Canadians are having surgery in January!
