Hello all. I had my vsg on July 31. Started out at 306 and now at 225. Still wanted to lose another 50 pounds but much to my surprise, I am pregnant. Conceive on Valentines Day (so cliche). However excited I am, I am still very very nervous. This definitely wasn't a planned thing. I have two sons, ages 4 and 2. I conceived both of them with the help of Clomid so I honestly didn't think it could happen naturally. Boy was I wrong. I'm not looking for ridicule because I know what the recommendation is for pregnancy after wls. I am just interested in the story of others who conceived so early following surgery. We're there struggles with eating? Did you gain all your weight b…

I am 11 mos post op @my goal weight and just tested positive on a hpt. I have been on bc for 4yrs changing it once because of all the hormonal issues from loosing the excess weight. I had insulin resistance that has since been reversed along with pcos I was being treated for...the bc was for #1 prevent pregnancy for first yr and yrs to come. (I already have 4) #2 regulate crazy cycles post op. #3 help control cyst. Anyone else get surprised with a positive pregnancy while on BC? (Especially having a hard time conceiving before vgs)

I'm 5 weeks post op and had a follow up with my family doctor (I live in Canada so healthcare is free) where she did another X-ray, a full blood panel to check vitamins & nutrients, blood pressure, blood sugar and a pap and I'm in killer health!!! (Yay) My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 6 years with countless fertility treatments and failed IVFs. My doctor said that I'm ready to try again! I'm nervous and excited and just wanted to know others experiences. It's hard because EVERY surgeon is SOOOOO different and everyone from all over the world has different experiences, so I'm just throwing it out there

Well I didn't quite get to my goal, about 47lbs short and now I've discovered I have a bun in the oven. I have/had PCOS and my husband had motility issues so we thought it would never happen. Well we got the surprise of a lifetime. Now I'm wondering if Protein shakes(casein and isopure) are ok during pregnancy. They're a staple in my diet, i have a shake every morning for Breakfast. Has anyone heard from their Dr about Protein shakes being okay during pregnancy? I go see my Dr Wednesday but wanted to see what the concensus is.

I am 10 months post-op and I got the ok to get pregnant. I am so nervous about this working and I really need someone to talm to about this. I started clomid 2/4. I had 2 ultrasounds done on the 2nd u/s they found 4 large follicles on the left and 5 on the right. I did my trigger shot 2/16 and believe I ovulated 2/15. I am now on my 2ww. I feel real good about it and I just feel in my heart and soul that it worked! I have never been pregnant before so the wait is driving me crazy. One of the reason I has the surgery was to get pregnant! Has anyone gone thru this and fertility treatments not work or was it easy for u to get pregnant with fertility meds after surgery? …

I'm 7 mos post op Gastric Sleeved on June 4,2012. My periods became normal once I dropped 50 lbs. I'm now down 132 lbs. I've been having weird small cramps everyday since my last period "sexually active with my live in boufriend". I'm supposed to get my period today which has not showed up. My question is what kind of symptoms and when did they start for my fellow sleeve sisters. I'm 30 and haven't been able to get pg. but now I feel different. Do y'all think it might finally happen? Should I test or wait? Give me y'all's feedback love y'all !!

Hello, I'm very early in my pregnancy (somewhere between 3 and 5 weeks). I just found out yesterday and I'm wondering when to tell my surgeon. I'm a bit nervous to tell him. I was going to wait a bit to tell him but I think I need blood work done, so I don't want to not do that just because I don't want to tell him. Thanks!

Hey everyone! I will be sleeved in 9 days (woo hoo!) and I'm 42 years old. I had a healthy baby boy at the ripe old age of 40 and my husband and I would really like to have another. Needless to say, while 120 pounds overweight conceiving and caring for another child is just not in the cards. My fervent hope is that I can lose at least 100 pounds by October and then start trying to get pregnant toward the end of 2013. If this works, I'll be 43 when I conceive and possibly 44 by the time I give birth - and weigh a good 70 pounds less than I did when I concieved my first child. Here is my question for the forum - I'm reading lots of happy sleevers that are getting pr…

So 18 months ago I weighed a hell of alot, and now I weight alot less. My husband has been with me throughout it - big, small, in between and he has never waivered. We have been trying to conceive for the past 3 months. I am still terrified that I will return to the size I once was so I have kept every stitch of clothing I have had from before my weightloss. I knew this would be the month, and I had quite a few clues along the way. Firstly, I breezed through my menses. Secondly, after my menses I knew there was a brand new fresh egg and that this one was the one that would make my first child. Knowing this too the core of my being, I started talking to this future chil…

I passed a clot on Friday and have had pink when i wipe since then. I went to the er on Friday and they did a vaginal ultrasound and I still showed pregnant. Do y'all think this is a sign of a miscarriage? It's my first pregnancy and I've been under a lot of stress since Friday. My dad passed away unexpectedly.

Hi all, I have been trying to stuff in a whole lot of extra calories because I have been dropping 3-4 lbs for the last 4 weeks. I have lost a total of 14 lbs and I am only 12 weeks along. Normally I would be thanking my lucky stars for that kind of weight loss but truthfully I am starting to worry that I am going to continue losing weight and eventually lose the baby because its not getting enough food. I have pcos and I have been on metformin up until this week. My question is does anyone else have a similar experience? Does your body realize you need to sustain or gain some weight? Thanks, Kitty

I took my iron pill FRI night and didn't drink much water with it obviously. I started feeling sick about 5 min later. I threw up not by choice and felt better.... Next day Sat I felt extremely tight. Barely got any food down all day even after drinking warm liquids. It helped but heaviness was still in the bottom of my throat. I had to resort to protein shakes which I think eventually came up later that night. I could taste the iron pill in mu vomit. Today, sun still same feeling. Didn't sleep well due to that pressure feeling. Ate a spoon full of peanut butter. How can I get unstuck???!!! What can help? Why hasn't it dissolved yet?? HELP!!

I am down 70 lbs and have been off birth control for 8 months. Why am I still not pregnant? My surgeon kept telling me that I had to be careful because I'd get pregnant as soon as I missed a pill and my husband and I have been trying for a while. What's the deal?

So far so good! I found out we were pregnant a week ago.. since then I am down 3 lbs. So great! Its so weird that I am losing but my tummy is getting rounder! #2 is def gonna show before #1 did! I have contiuned my workouts-increased cardio and decreased weights. I have maintained my diet but gave in to some cracker temptations LOL I went out to dinner but avoided what I "wanted" and got what I knew was appropriate calories for a meal. Phew! I hope I can continue to avoid a huge gain... i understand i will most likely gain because I am pregnant BUT last pregnancy I gained 70 lbs so it feels great that I am making better choices already!

I am currently 3 months+ pregnant and have gained too much weight. When I found out that I was pregnant 6 weeks ago, I went to my Dr and had an unfill. I have since gained 15 lbs and a considering going back for a small fill. I am constantly hungry and am only satisfied for about a couple hours at a time. Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone gotten a fill while pregnant?

I had gastric bypass 3 years ago. Lost 112 lbs. I have an 8 month old and gained about 30 lbs. I am still struggling to lose. Worst thing is i am too tired to exercise and the more i nurse the baby, the more hungry i feel. Not sure what to do. Any suggestions.

Hi, Just wondering of anyone else has had really bad heartburn ( I actually went to the hospital because I thought I might be having a heart attack). I also have had frothing come back and stomach pain in general... This is my second pregnancy and things were never this horrible the first time around. Maybe just getting older or bad luck I don't know... Is this normal for a sleever?

How many calories do you pregnant ladies eat in a day? I seem to be getting flack about only eating 1400 cals a day (I'm pre op) people day that's way to low but I don't starve myself I eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. I'm 36 weeks.

Oh boy!!! What a shock!!! My period was three days late and my hubby insisted I take a test, before giving me my half a glass of wine ( we are on vacation in Spain) I peed on the stick last night and within 1,5 mins it came back positive!! My head keeps asking how it happened. I had an IUCD placed shortly after my daughter (she is now 2) was born and I've been avoiding doing the deed when I'm ovulating, but I suppose somehow, something slipped through! I am thankful for this precious gift and also very scared because this is totally unplanned!!!

Hey all! So I've been banded for 2 years now. I'm almost 27 weeks pregnant and have experienced a significant increase in restriction while pregnant. I'm still able to eat and drink, but I'm definitely back to feeling like I'm at my maximum healthy-fill level, instead of pre-pregnancy where I was coasting along with being under-filled just enough to eat whatever I want if I wanted. My OB is very happy with my health and the growth and health of the baby. But recently I had the stomach flu which really aggravated my band, and I've started swelling (ankles/feet... very typical for me in the 3rd trimester based on my last pregnancy), which also means that internally I am lik…

I just wanted to thank everyone that posts in this forum. I've been 'back-burner' considering the lap band for a couple of years now, and after the last 24 month cycle of losing 30lbs, gaining it back - then hurting my knee and gaining more, all while my husband and I are trying to get pregnant - this forum really helped me gather a lot of information. I recently decided that we should hold off on actively trying to get pregnant until I can get healthier - I'm around 300lbs now and my weight plus my knee hurting (to the point that it makes exercise difficult, which only adds to the problem) I think it'd just be really hard on my body to get pregnant right now. Nevermi…

Hello! Last night, passion got the best of us so now I'm a little concerned about being prego so soon after my sleeve (April 2012) and my rapid weight loss (110 pounds). Are we considered to be a high risk pregnancy? I also had a vertical C section with my son 4 years ago, and I believe that plays a factor too. Anyhow, any input would be appreciated! (I know it seems like I'm worrying too far in advance, but I was a fertile myrtle before my surgery, I got prego on the Pill)

I am currently 5 months out of surgery exactly as of today! My husband and I got married Nov 16th of this year and the hot topic of having a baby has been on the table. I need some thoughts. I have only lost 30 lbs and have been plateaued for about 2 1/2 months.... my dieting has been rough. I wanted to get down 90 lbs in my first year so I am way behind. I also have an appt on Thursday to check on my fills. I know the Surgeons say to wait at least a year before getting pregnant but we just really feel ready. I am just scared that if we do this then my hard work a d struggles with be for nothing. I am open to any and all comments at this point. My hear says …

I'm 6 months post-op and not planning on trying anytime soon because I'm not at my goal yet, but when did your doctors tell you it was ok or safe to try to get pregnant? I plan on discussing this with my doctor but I'd also like to hear what your doctors told you. After my 1 year surgiversary I'd like to consider it but I'm not sure if that's too soon or what. So ladies, what do you think?

I had my gastric bypass 4 years ago . Starting weight was 427lbs, lowest weight after surgery was 147lbs . I had my first son 2 years ago and gained 25lbs and lost it pretty fast again after I had him. Now, I have a 3 month old as well but gained around 45lbs with him. Having a rough time losing the weight this time around though I'm a 179lbs now , can't wait to get the rest off again. Once you go through this surgery, you will always think you are big, no matter what size you get down to... Weight will be a personal struggle with myself for the rest of my life that is for sure...

I really need advice from anyone in my situation. I am 18 mths post of VSG & recently found out I am 5 wks pregnant. I was told I am considered high risk due to having the VSG & my age. I seen my doctor for the 1st time today, to discuss my options & he stated he wasn't ready to discuss a game plan that I am to come back in 2 wks for a follow up then we will discuss. He stated for me NOT to take prenatal Vitamins & to currently keep eating as I have been. At my intake appointment last Thursday, they took 6 vials blood, then again today took another vial, & I am to go back in 48 hours for them to take another vial. I really would like t…

Good morning ladies.... I am new to the board and have a question regarding opening my band....I am 4 weeks pregnant and was wondering when to have my band opened up. Its pretty tight now and I can mostly only get liquids and Soups in during the early part of the day...after 1 or 2. My band usually relaxes after 5 or 6 so I eat a pretty normal dinner but there are days when its completely uncooperative and I don't get much down. I have never been able to eat much meat and have gotten most of my Protein from shakes, supplements, fish and cheeses. I am very concerned (more like freaking out) about gaining weight but there is a strong possiblity I am carrying multiples so m…

Hello All I was banded 8/27/2012. I have lost a total of 33 lbs, and now find myself 6 weeks pregnant. I have wanted to get pregnant just did not expect it this soon, I've already lost 4 during pregnancy, I am making sure I am eating, but want to do it right. Now I know I'm pregnant it seems like food goes down easier. I haven't had a chance to contact my nutritionist but thought I would ask those here with experience. I was given a 6 month supply of protein shakes from my doctor. They are high calorie high protein no sugar protein shakes. They are okay on my stomach as long as they are cold. If I drank these twice a day with one healthy meal and a snack would tha…

Well. Today I had quite the experience. I'm 24 weeks along and because I developed gestational diabetes with my twins that later became Type 2, I'm high risk for gestational diabetes again. My tiny little med clinic here wanted to test me today and I figured it couldn't be much different than it was with my other two pregnancies. I did have a one hour test done early (around 13 weeks) to make sure I didn't have diabetes, because it only went into remission post-sleeve. I did the small glucola drink and while I felt awful for that entire hour I did fine and my sugars came up perfectly normal. Well, they gave me the big bottle of glucola today (that orange flavor,…

Hey everybody! It's been a long, long time since I have posted anything, but I wanted to just put an update out there. I was sleeved Dec. 20, 2011, and have lost 54 pounds so far. The doc gave me the green light for getting pregnant a couple weeks ago, and I am doing my first cycle of Clomid. I am so excited! We go to count eggs in 2 days! I have been wanting this for so long now, and I can't believe it's finally happening. DH and I have been wanting a child for over 4 years now. We didn't find out that I had an issue until 2 years ago, and I was diagnosed with PCOS. I am so thrilled to finally be at this point, and hope so much that we can get pregnant right away!

That's correct, Pregnant not even 2 months after surgery. I see some threads but I'd just like an update of anyone that is going through this or went through it already... I was 300 pounds at my highest weight, now down to 240. I'm not even concerned as much about the weight gain as I am for my baby. I know this wasn't planned, but I'm already in love with my little pumpkin. The doctor that I saw at my nuchal screening told me that my weight and the fact that I became pregnant so soon after surgery makes me high risk, emphasizing preeclampsia, gestational diabetes and internal herniation. It's just all so much. I'm 25 and this is my first baby so anyone that can weigh in…
