How long was it after surgery that you got pregnant? Just wondering.

I am due to get surgery on 6/18 and my big motivator is having a baby with my amazing husband. We don't have any children due to pcos. I am 35 and I hope that I will get pregnant soon! Kaisers says 2 years but u want to wait 1 year. I keep having a dream about this beautiful lil boy who looks just like my husband I desperately want to meet him. I wish I could have done this sooner. Please forgive me if I am sounding too emotional!! Thanks for the hope you have all given me.

I have an appt next Tuesday for my first fill!! I'm very excited to lose this 30 pounds. Did anyone have to do a barium swallow before their first post pregnancy fill? I am kind of wanting to ask for one just to make sure my pouch isn't stretched etc. Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Read on here that someone's mom was against the sleeve because she couldn't have kids. Is this true?? I've never heard such a thing. Please help. I just had the surgery done and I have no kids. And this would break my heart.

went and saw the surgeon today for my first pre opt appointment and while talking was told that when getting the lap band there is no reason to stop ttc...so i'm super excited and am going to keep trying..thanks everyone

Just a couple hours old! Katelyn is here and was just days away from her induction date but decided to come on her own. She was 6 lbs and 10 oz born at 5:03 a.m on Wednesday morning. She's 20 inches long and so tiny. She was conceived just after having surgery last year in June. Planning on healing up from labor and getting my first fill sometime in the weeks to come. :-)

I had my my survey in 2008 lost 100 pounds was happy with my results! Had to take my fill out because we got pregnant. I am breastfeeding but wanted a fill. Doctor said he didn't recommend X-ray due to barium and breastfeeding??? So now my baby is 10 months and I am back to my pre surgery weight. Well, everyone, this pregnancy was not meant to be. My husband and I were visiting Denver this week, and I started to have spotting and cramping, so I went to the ER. Ultrasound showed no heartbeat, and my blood work was pretty funky. I've had problems with PCOS and hypothyroidism since I was a teenager, so I know that it was related to that, even though I'm ten million times healthier than I used to be. Im 2 months post-op, and I was havnig horrible pain in the lower right side of my stomach. Well I thought I had appendicitis, but an ultrasound reveals ovarian cysts and Fluid in my fallopian tube(s). Im freaking out. Im only 28, have no children, and I had the surgery to reach a healthy weight and increase fertility. i looked online and the fluid in the tubes can sometimes be the result of abdominal surgery ....... GASP .... seriously? The pain Im feeling is only inches below my port site .... is this a coincidence? Anyone else had fluid in their tubes and still successfully had a baby???

History: my husband and I ttc for about 3 yrs and with all the tests and everything we went through we both were told we were perfectly fine we have unexplained infertility at the time I weighed 253 lbs and was told I was on my way to type 2 diabetes. My boyfriend and I have been TTC for about 6 months now. I recently discovered that i have PCOS. My doctor put me on birth control, which wasn't exactly what i wanted. ( We have one child together already) He said that because I have been pregnant before, most likely i should be able to get pregnant now. When/ before i was pregnant i weighed about 60 pounds less and i didn't have PCOS at the time ( Or at least no signs of it ) So i had a few questions.... 1. Has anyone used Clomid? 2. Does it come in a generic form? 3. What drugs/pills did you use? 4. Any advice?

My surgeon tells all his PTs to wait 18 mo before conception? Are there dangers if you become pg sooner? Will it ruin the band? My fertility has been weird since the band. Just curious! I'm 5 mo out!

I have been having trouble with the prenatals the OB gave me. I seem to burp them up and they are so horrible! It makes me literally gag. Do you have a favorite prenatal that you used or know of one that is chewable and doesn't taste horrible? Thanks!

Hi all, I'm a journalist at a marketing company and I'm curious if anyone would be willing to share with me their experiences getting or being pregnant with the LAP-BAND. Also, if you had difficulty conceiving before surgery and the surgery improved your fertility, I'm eager to hear about it. I had my son 1/31. I gained almost all my weight back during the pregnancy and have lost about 40 lbs since I had him but have plateaued. I know I can get a fill but I just don't want to. I cry every time I think about going through that deprivation again. My doc says he'll do it even though I'm nursing but I just haven't had the guts to schedule. Thoughts? Experiences?

Hi ladies we just found out we are pg!!!! Our son will be 16 in aug. I'm a little surprised but over joyed at the same time. I'm going to need a support group to help me get through this with the lapband.

I am a little over 8 weeks pregnant and I am eating ALL the time. I mean - every hour or 1 1/2 or so. If I am not eating I am drinking - it is so frustrating. If I don't eat, I will get really nausea and lightheaded (it feels like an out of body experience). I have tried a bunch of different things, such as protein drinks or milk as 'snacks' but it only last about 15-20 min. Then I have to eat again. Eating has become such a chore - I have also noticed that I am able to eat A LOT more. I am wondering if anyone else has gone thru this and what did they do? Should I have a complete unfill or what? I am 38 yrs old, 8mo post op and just found out that I'm pregnant. How in world am I going to eat all the food I'm supposed to? The food guide says 6-11 servings of grains per day!! I think my sleeve in kinda on the small side so I still can't eat much at one sitting so I eat about every 2-3 hours. To get all the grains I'm supposed to I'd have to eat it at every "meal", which means I wouldn't have room for any thing else. Is it OK to sacrifice the grains so that I can get everything else in? I'll be able to do all the others, but only if I sacrifice the grains. Thanks

I had my surgery 3/24/11 and at 6 mo out found myself pregnant with our 3rd child. I was on BC the whole time so this came as quite a shock, although we are very excited. I have found that with this pregnancy, I have been more sick than with my other two. I have not gained any weight yet, my dr even asked if I was intentionally trying to still lose weight? Hi all...I am 7 months pregnant..banded Aug 2010---lost about 60lbs before getting pregnant. Had all my Fluid removed when I found out because I was very tight and could not eat and had morning sickness. Surgeon suggested removing all fluid to avoid slippage... Gained 13 lbs so far...maintain my diet with the removal of artifical sweetners and Protein shakes...due to contents in the products. Just wanted to share something my OB told me ...at 17 weeks I had my 2nd seq screening done -and it came back 1/5 chance of downs. But I noticed that since I have been prego (13 weeks 5 days now) that ALL of my bad old habits have creeped back in and I have gained so far a fluctuating 8-10 lbs depending on the day. And I want to nip this in the bud before I get out of control. I have decent restriction (if you will), I can eat about a cup sometimes slightly more with less dense foods, but I want to eat all day! like more then 6-8 times a day, not enough water and more carbs too. How many of yall have gotten pregnant and have PCOS? I am having fasting blood work done next week to check all of my levels since losing around 50 pounds. My husband and I are wanting to get pregnant, and I have PCOS. Although I haven't had a cyst in a long time, I still do have some abnormal hair growth (not as bad as it used to be), and I don't know what my bloodwork will look like. Although for the past couple of years, my blood sugar has been fine, but my insulin has been up a little bit. Any stories would be great!!

I've been reading up on the supposed girl or boy diet for conception. The girl diet seemed similar to how most of us eat. A diet low in red meat, high in calcium, low in carbs, high in protein.... So I was wondering...how many of you had girls? How many had boys? Thanks Sarah

hi I am new to the post op world only had surgery a week ago! My main objective with having the surgery was go loose weight and get healthy so I can get pregnant. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for going on 5 years now with no luck! No fertility dr would treat me until I lost weight as being 278 lbs was, to them, clearly the reson I could conceive. I never ovulated before surgery even when taking ovulating drugs. For those of you who lost weight before getting pregnant, first off congrats. I held off on getting pregnant again to lose weight and get healthier. Were you able to wear your old fat cloths as maternity cloths. I've lost almost 100 lbs and an now trying to get pregnant I'm now a 14-16 and wondering if I should keep my 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and size 24 just in case I can uses them as maturity cloths. Still trying to lose another 20 lbs them I'll be at goal.

Have any of you actually been pregnant, but had a negative home pregnancy test? My cycle was coming on like clockwork, then it stopped, I'm a month late and CRAMPING LIKE CRAZY. After 17 years of tears and heartbreak, I am finally pregnant!!!!! I stopped taking BC at 13 months because it doesnt agree with me. Well... was pregnant weeks later! I have PCOS and my husband and I have been trying to have a baby for 4 years. I finally decided that the doctors were right and that I should try and shed some pounds and I had lapband surgery on 7.26.10...here I am a year and half later and we found out that WE ARE PREGNANCT!!! I was banded on June 9th of this year and moved soon after from Nor Cal to So Cal because I transferred properties to another newspaper. I have no Fluid in my band and was in the process of trying to find a surgeon who would touch me, lol. Many surgeons would not do fills on patients they do not operate on. Just found out yesterday I'm 5 weeks preggo. I'm 14 months out from sleeve and have lost 138lbs! This pregnancy is a total surprise as we TTC for seven years pre-sleeve. During our years of TTC, we discovered I have MTHFR which is a blood clotting factor that can cause miscarriage (I had 2) if blood thinners are not taken during pregnancy. My sleeve surgeon has always advised staying away from NSAIDS due to risk of stomach bleeding, but now I have to take 2 heparin injections daily plus a baby aspirin which is a NSAID. Has anyone else been on this regimen of meds after sleeve? Should I be worried about stomach bleeds or just pop a PPI daily to try to protect my sleeve?

I have been wondering about this. I had my tubes tied 4 years ago (the day after my last child was born). When a person loses weight everything loosens up; your clothes, your shoes, your jewelry. Does knots tied in ones internal organs? It would stand to reason that they would shrink along with everything else. I know for a fact, some doctors will not do a tubal immediately after birth because they say after the swelling from the pregnancy goes down, the knot will be too loose. Long story short, has anyone here gotten pregnant with their tubes tied after having the sleeve?

One of the reasons on why I decided to get this surgery is because I want to start a family. Are there any sleevers who once weighed over 330 lbs, lost the weight (if so, how much) and finally was able to conceive? How long did it take to lose the weight you needed to get pregnant.
