I am currently 30/31 weeks pregnant in a high risk pregnancy. My ob and perinatologist want to do an amniocentesis at 36 weeks to check to see if the baby's lungs are mature and what not and if everything looks good they're going to do a c-section around the sametime. Has anyone else had a late term amnio? I am so scared about having this done and welcome any input! Thank you so much. Also, I have already had the steroid shots to help mature her lungs...thank you!

I am not pregnant yet...in fact I am going next week to get my IUD out. In my first pregnancy I had high blood pressure during my whole pregnancy. It gave me a lot of trouble and a lot of doctor appts. I have lost 50 lbs and I hope to loose at least another ten before I get pregnant. So my question is do you think I will have trouble with high blood pressure again?

Wow, I haven't been here in a long time. I was banded Feb 2009 and a year later (almost to the day) I will have a baby!!! I'm really nervous about the c-section, I only have 3 weeks as of Wednesday! If you have already had both, how do they compare?

I was so sick the first 4 months that I didnt gain anything, then I gained 6 pounds from 4 months to 5 months, then 4 pounds from 5 months to 6 months. My doc said I shouldnt gain but 3 pounds a month at this point, and now its looking like 5 for me! How much did everyone gain? I am so worried about gaining too much...Oh, and I have not been unfilled yet!!! I have the same restriction I did before I got pregnant, so I am so scare…

So I went to the doctors about a two weeks ago and found out that my band slipped and that I needed to get a complete unfill so that *hopefully* it will go back to its original position. Before that I had terrible acid reflux, was throwing up daily and coughing. Now with the unfill, I have been on a liquid diet and should continue to be on the liquid diet for another two more weeks. Yesterday I got a call from my doctors saying that my blood test and urine test all came out positive and that I am pregnant 5 weeks! I am thrilled because I have been ttc for a year and a half! My issue is that I am worried that my band won't go back to its original position... I am…

I was banded in February 2009 and now I am 23 weeks pregnent with identical twins girls. My hubby and I couldn't be more thrilled about the girls, but I am not so thrilled about my expanding tummy again. Prior to getting pregnant I had lost about 60 lbs. Now, 23 weeks into prengnancy I have gained about 22 lbs. I now this is mostly baby weight, but I am beginning to think that I need to really start looking at my food choices and quanitites that I am eating. My surgeon doesn't remove any saline unless I feel that I need it so I am still at the same fill level as pre-pregnancy. Any one out there have any advise on the amount of calories they did or are eating while be…

I am not yet pregnant but my DH and I are going to start trying in March (18mo after my surgery just like my surgeon said). I was wondering did any of you have a lot of extra skin on your stomach and if so how did that impact your stretch marks and the baby bump as your pregnancy progressed? Did you show earlier? Did you even get stretch marks? How long before people could tell you were pregnant? Kandi

DH and I are REALLY trying to get preggo. I was banded in Dec 08 and have lost about 30lbs. (I'm at 195 now.) Pre-op I was 224. Surgery day I was 208. I've gone from 208 to 195 in the past month due to diet and exercise. The doctor was NOT aggressive with my fills, and FINALLY I am at that "sweet spot." Well, almost. I think another fill will do it. But anyway, the LAST thing I need is for him to take ANYTHING out!!! I will refuse to tell him I'm even preggo if he wants to take some out. I think I am at 6 cc's in my 10cc band. If he takes any out, I will certainly gain weight during my pregnancy and that is last thing I need. Right now I am getting plenty …

I'm working on getting the band sometime this spring and I'd also love to get pregnant. I've heard some doctors ask you to wait a year.. Did you ladies wait a year? If we're going to have another baby ..it's going to be as soon as we get the green light from the dr's .. we already have a son that's 3.5 and I don't want lots of space in between. Thanks!

My daughter just found out she's pregnant - she's about 5 weeks along. Have any of you discussed getting the H1N1 vaccine or the seasonal flu shot with your obstetrician - and if so at what point (weeks) in the pregnancy is it safe? Is it safe to get it in the first trimester? Thanks. Signed - a nervous mother and grandmother to be

Hey all! Another banded and pg gal here! I'm 9 wks pregnant (found out right at 4 weeks) and had planned to keep my fill until I needed it out (with the blessing of my doc.) Last week I ended up in the ER with a gall bladder attack. We managed to avoid surgery (thank goodness!) but with all the violent throwing up (about 24 hours worth) I opted for a complete unfill so that I didn't end up with a slipped band. Even the anti-nausea meds weren't doing anything. So, here I am, 9 weeks in and no fill. I've been fairly nauseated all day long (though thankfully, not to much actual throwing up outside of the gall bladder stuff.) But man, am I hungry! No weight gain yet…

Hi ladies, In my 14th week here......my band remains filled at 5.5 cc's, my doc did not unfill me. I have gained 10 pounds so far....and happily developing my baby bump. I would love to hear how you all are ding with your pregnancies- if you are still 'filled' and is your band working? I feel as if I do not have a band at all sometimes....I am HUNGRY a real gnawing hunger almost every 2 hours. This is my first pregnancy so not sure if this is 'normal' ? I would love to get my band tightened further but realize would not be best. Should also add that I am eating things I have not eaten since surgery.....pasta, bread, etc. My need for carbs came back when I cou…

Hi there... I just found out yesterday that I am 6 weeks pregnant. Not planned and still adjusting to the news... Does anyone know of a good prenatal vitamin/chewable one? I have been nauseau's for about 10 days and am having trouble keeping anything down. I go to see my OB tomorrow and my surgeon on Friday... but in the meantime I need a plan for a Vitamin. I am still taking my regular chewable Multivitamin... but if ya'll have any suggestions I could use them. Thanks so much!! "T"

Just wanted to share my news, baby number four is making an appearance sometime next August! This was quite a shocker for DH and I, because we had agreed on no more babies for now. In fact, I was supposed to go for an IUD this week but found out last week! DH just came home from Iraq in October...I guess we have ourselves an official homecoming baby, lol! I am really nervous about putting weight back on, so I'm glad this forum is here. I'm sure I'll be around!

I have a 10CC band with 8.3cc's and I'm really having a hard time eating anything. I think I'm overfilled as it is but couple that with being 9 wks pregnant and I'm pretty miserable. So here is the problem. I'm already thinking about and getting excited about all the wonderful foods I can eat when I unfilled. I'm so affraid of gaining. The plan was to have 4.3cc's removed. I don't remember feeling any difference between completely unfilled and 4cc's. Anything over that, it was painful to eat. After reading a lot of posts on here I see a lot of women get a total unfill. Now I don't know which to do. Total unfill or leave in 4 cc's. I do not want to have multiple unfills…

I know this isn't "pregnancy related" but I'm hoping some of you can help me. I can't seem to eat enough calories. I started feeling super sick and had a huge headache, which I'm still feeling, that landed me in the ER the other night. Turns out I'm not eating enough. I had the lapband surgery in Feb 2008. I got my band loosened right after getting pregnant and can't get enough in in order to have enough calories to spend on breastfeeding. My husband and I talked about going and getting the band loosened, but it means I wouldn't lose weight. I just don't know, I'm torn. What's healthier for my LO? Being breastfed or not having a 300 pound mama with high blood pressure…

Hello all I was banded on 2/6/09, I weighed 345lbs before my surgery and am down to 250! I'm 5'10 so I'm still above where I should be. The whole reason I got the band besides to get healthy was because of my PCOS and the fact that my husband and I want a baby so badly. I'm 32 years old and don't want to wait that much longer. I'm currently on birth control and am just wondering about other peoples PCOS banding stories. I have an appt with my endocrinologist on Jan, 8th to come off birth control and am hoping to start clomid in March. How long after stopping the pill did any of you get a BFP? Any stories would help! Thanks

One of my main reasons for the surgery is to impact our (completely unexplained) infertility. For you ladies that are pregnant, had your AF changed post op? I used to be 28 days like clockwork...and I'm late. AF was supposed to come on Thursday and so far no sign. Is it hormones or could it possibly be that I'm pregnant??? I really don't want to get my hopes up OR buy expensive tests if I'll just be disappointed again. Although it would be unplanned, we were going to start trying in March anyway. BUT if you all have experienced similar changes, I'll stop getting my hopes up and just wait for the inevitable TOM. Help and thank you!!

Hello Everybody Some of you may know or remember me but it's been a while since I've been on here so here it goes. Had Surgery April 2009 was doing what I would call as "fair", losing weight, eating correct portions, Protein first exercising 5days a week... and All.. Then in August go in for appt with surgeon for normal check up and I had been feeling nausea but I thought nothing big... well they always have you do pregnancy test if LMP was not within last 10 days come to find out I am Pregnant.. WOW !!! lets just say we were not expecting that what a shocker we are thinking so we decide to keep it then after 3 months found out it was an etopic pregnancy so I lost the …

Hi Ladies....I hope you are all doing well! I am doing great- albeit for the usual fatigue and morning sickness. I have an update and interested in your experiences/feedback as well: -Met with new bariatric surgeon ( just moved) and he told me to leave my band as is; which is currently filled to 5.5 cc. He said as long as I can eat well with no vomiting, etc that there is no need to unfill. Of course he said to evaluate as we go along but I guess I am still concerned because I thought when pushing during labor I could damage the band if it is filled- but he said no. Thsi seems to be contradicting what I have read here- what do you ladies think and what have you don…

Yesterday, I started to notice a bit of cramping and instantly became worried due to the issues I've been having with this pregnancy. I called my husband at work and told him. He's the rational one, I'm the overly emotional one. He asked me where the pain was coming from. I told him it was the upper part of my stomach. (He reminded me that the day I had some problems, the pain was in my lower stomach. Thank God, he is so sensible or I'd have panicked for sure) Well, we realized that since my tummy has expanded a bit and I'm still wearing the same clothes, my port is being irritated. It's being pushed by my growing tummy and the waist band of my jeans. I put on a…

I've lost 60 lbs and bam! I'm pregnant. I kinda expected this because I got pregnant 4 years ago when I lost 50 lbs. I'm excited because this time I wont gain all my weight back like I did last time. So, here's my question. I'm not sure about whether I should unfill or not. My band doctor said check with my OB/GYN. I can't get to her for another 2 weeks. Besides, most other doctors really don't understand lapband. I'm thinking I should get at least a partial unfill. I was finally in a pretty restricted, but not overly restricted place with my band. (After 5 fills and 3 unfills). I really can't eat anything but pretty soft food until night time. I didn't gain hardly an…

I get very nauseated after eating, like my band is too tight. I feel fine after the two weeks, it all goes back to normal. Thanks for your help with this.

I had my Lap-Band surgery on September 30th of this year. Everything went great. They performed a urine pregnancy test on me the morning of surgery - obviously it was negative or they wouldn't have performed the surgery. My husband and I have not had sex since the lap-band surgery (18 days) due to the risk of becoming pregnant. My husband is scheduled for a vasectomy. This morning I realized my period was late so I went and got a HPT. OMG it was positive. I will be calling my OBGYN tomorrow morning to get in ASAP to make sure everything is ok. I have previously had an ovarian ectopic and major fertility issues. To conceive our daughter we had IVF, she just tur…

So me and my beau were out of town a couple of weeks ago and I got really sick. I couldn't keep and liquids or food down. I was miserable! I finally made him take me to the ER. This was a small hospital and no one on staff knew much about the LB. They did a pregnancy test, blood work, and then a barium swallow. They discovered that nothing was going through my LB. My tummy was completley closed. The ER doc called my LB surgeon and he had to walk him through how to unfill my band. He poked me about 10 times before he was succesful. After 3 days of puking I finally kept a Sprite down. Yipee! Well, the pregnancy test came back negative so that was ruled out. We had no idea w…

So I am a year post op and have lost 65....I love what I look like and feel like now, but I just found out I'm pregnant which was planned. I have about 20 pounds to my goal weight, which I will have to wait to reach. But I am kinda stressed about gaining too much weight. I was 30 pounds heavier that I am now when I got pregnant with my first baby, and I only gained 30 pounds with her, but now that I have lost all this weight I am worried about gaining too much weight. I'm about 8 weeks pregnant and feel really good, so I have not been unfilled yet. My doc said I wont need to until it becomes too tight. So my question to everyone who got pregnant after banding is,…

I am 30 weeks pregnant and banded. About 1 month ago I started having pain near my ribs on my left side. It started out managable and I mentioned it to my band surgeon and he said no it's not the band. The pain continued to get worse and made it almost impossible for me to stand more than a 30-45 minutes at a time. I went to my general doctor and she did some labs etc., nothing wrong. She referred me to my OB and he said it's just the pains associated with being pregnant. I have not had any relief unless I am lying down. Now I feel a tingling sensation in my upper left side as well. I wonder if anyone has or is having similiar problems. I wonder if this is band related an…

I just found out that I am preggo. This will be #3 for me. My other 2 are 12 and 8 years old. I had a lot of complications with them. It has been since March 08 since my surgery. I only have 2cc in my 5cc band I am down a total of 100 lbs since surgery. I havent lost any in the last couple of months. I still get sick a lot when I eat,,,even when eating right. Now that I am preggars I am more sick. Do you think with my past complications would it be best to go ahead and having my band unfilled. Or take it a day at a time. I dont think I am getting the nutrition that I need to keep the little one healthy.

I was diagnosed with PCOS last fall, banded in Feb. I lost weight slowly but steadily. My cycles came back after surgery and I was declared free of PCOS in June. I never had cysts but my endo said that I still had PCOS. Well, last week I was feeling like crap, tired, cranky and my boobs really hurt. Not aunt flo either. I took the test and it came back positive. It seems that I am currently 6 weeks pregnant. Shock, that is all I can say! I really did not expect it to happen. Talked with my doc about things. He wants me to keep what fills I have in my band and aim to not gain any weight. That will be interesting. Have any of you had luck doing that?

Please don't pay attention to my stats, because I have been in bandster hell ever since I got fill removed about 3 months ago and have gained 15 lbs. I went to my OBGYN today and she is urging me to drop the weight before pregancy (wasn't specific on exactly how much) I am really depressed about this because I really don't want to wait, I want to try to see if I have any issues gettin pregnant and don't want to delay the process. I am supposed to go in for a fill next week- do you think I should give it all I got for a month and try to drop 10 lbs- like low carb and excercise? The last few weeks, I've been almost totally unable to eat animal Protein. Especially chicken- I think it's a textural issue. I just get violently ill. I can't do Beans or eggs either. cheese, milk and yogurt are ok, but I already haven't pooped for two weeks (sorry- ya'll didn't really need to know this...) and dairy makes it a lot worse. So I've been having almost no protein. I've noticed I've been extra tired and moody, and I think this might be part of it. The only meat that goes down is lunchmeat- as long as it's cold. If it's heated, then it's no good. I know I'm not supposed to eat lunchmeat, but is it really that bad if I can't get any other form of protein dow…

So the hubs and I are TTC#3! I'm really hoping for a BFP the end of this month but we shall see. My question for all you banders who got pregnant is did you get unfilled all at once in the beginning or was it gradual and how much did you get unfilled at a time. I'm at my sweet spot right now 7.5cc in a 10cc band. I can get stuck if I'm not careful and I really don't want to deal with that if I am pregnant so was wondering whether I should get unfilled all at once or little by little. Just want other experiences to help make an informed decision should I have to(Hopefully I will have to soon!) Thanks!

...because I'm seven weeks pregnant. As you can see from my ticker I didn't have too much left to go to goal. We started TTC in March. This is our first child and it was our first time TTC. I still didn't expect it to happen so soon! I saw my OB/GYN for the first time yesterday & she said to aim for no more than a 20 pound weight gain. As for fills, my fill doc has said that unless I have a lot of vomiting or am not eating enough for the baby's growth, I should be able to keep my fill. So far I've gained maybe a pound. I'm eating normally (although carb cravings are pretty bad) and exercising as much as possible -- low-impact. Some nausea here and there bu…
