Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery

I haven't been around in a few months, but I wanted to give you all an update. After battling with PCOS and obesity, I just recently found out that I'm finally pregnant. :preggers: This is child #2... 12, yes TWELVE years apart (same daddy).

I have been thinking about Lap Band for a while now. I'm 5'4" and before surgery was appoximately 221 lbs. I had just so happen to lose about 15 lbs right before I got pregnant. Anyway, I was talking to my OBGYN and she said it is definitely something that I could start after the baby is born. I thought it would be perfect if I could get it while I'm on my maternity leave. I have 12 weeks off, so I will have plenty of recovery time. I'm having my initial consultation on Wednesday. Before they made the appointment for me they asked the surgeon if this was a possibility. I was banded in March. Just found out that I'm pregnant. My hubbie and I are very excited. Especially since we've been trying for years and was told I would have to do IVF. I'm curious to hear from other Pregnant bandsters of how they did with the band. My OB really doesnt know about the band. My Band Dr said no problem. In a few weeks I'm going to have some of my fill taken out. I have no trouble eating. I've been on alot of bed rest since I've had a few minor complications . I've gained 10 pounds. Would like to hear from other Preggo Bandsters to see if they had any problems with their bands with pregnancy

Hi everyone. I recently found out that I am pregnant (yay!!) and due in March. I had my band surgery November '05 and I've had 2 fills so far... 1cc each time (4cc band). I have no restriction, only the occasional "almost PB" when I eat something dry. I was down 12 lbs, but now that I am bloated and holding Water weight, I'm down about 5 from my original surgery weight. I know I'm going to need more fills to lose weight, and before we found out we are pregnant, I was planning a fill. So, do you think it's smart to get a fill while pregnant? Do you think my doc will even consider? I don't want to gain more than the recommended 20-30 lbs, and I definitely wouldn't…

Hi everyone! I just found out that I am pregnant and due in March...yay! My question is...what next? I am almost one year post op and about 35 pounds from my goal. Obviously I don't want to gain very much weight, but I do want to make sure that my baby is healthy. Should I get an unfill now, or wait till later in my pregnancy? I am also a little worried because my OB/GYN has never even heard of a Lap-Band....I have had to explain the entire procedure and concept to him! I'm 2 months pregnant and just got unfilled. I'm still losing a little weight so I guess that's good. I just pray I dont gain a whole lot while carrying this baby. This is me and my husband's first child and we are "Very" excited! Keep us in your prayers. Oh yeah, I was banded Dec 16, 2005, when they say you become more fertile after you lose weight, believe it. I'm a true testimony.:clap2:

Any of you out there who have gone through a pregnancy while banded, I'm curious as to how much weight you gained during the pregnancy and if you were able to take it off post partum. I am only 13 weeks along, and haven't gained anything. It is very difficult on my psychologically not losing weight at this point, even though this is definately not the time for weightloss! I continue to monitor the scale, in a slightly less obsessive manner than pre-pregnancy. I understand that I'm going to gain weight, or at least just stop losing, either of which my OB/GYN is fine with, but I had no idea it would mess with me mentally. I feel sooo bloated! Is this gas? I have taken Malox and Gas X and doesn't seem to do much. I have also walked (alot due to shopping), and it only seems to get more intense. I was banded 12/15/05 and have been feeling extremely pregnant (like 12 months) since I have came home on Friday. I am otherwise feeling good. I have lost 13 lbs, and am unable to eat more than 1 to 2 oz. without feeling 15 months pregnant. Also, I have not had a BM since surgery. Not sure if that's normal or not but the nurse didn't seem overly concerned. I am scared to take a laxative because I don't want to start something I cant' stop. Any advise out there? Hello, My name is Lillie. I have been a member for about eight months. I was banded in February and I have lost 80 lbs. My husband and I want to start having kids really soon. Does anyone have any views or experience on this? I want to get pregnant maybe by the end of the year. Is this good or not? I have talked to my doctor, but would like to hear first hand experience if possible. Thanks!!

Hi guys: I have not posted for a while but I told you guys a while back that I was pregnant well I am due 04/19/06, I know there might not be alot of people that can answer any of my questions but my last fill was back in 07/16/05 I was up to 2.2 cc then back in 9/3/05 I needed an unfill because I wasn't able to eat at all well I am now to 1.1 cc (yeah they took half my fill) well since then I have not gained but 1 pound and I am know 11 weeks almost 12 my question is what happens to the port, when I lay down you can feel it as if it was right on the top of my skin, can it get disconnected as my tummy gets bigger, I still have more than half way to go!! Hi everyone, I posted a few weeks ago asking questions about people being banded and being pregnant well I was just asking for future references and thats if I was going to have one more child and guess what happened yesterday...I took 2 home pregancy test and both are positive!!!!! I almost had a heart attack and I still can't believe it, I am going to go in about 1/2 an hour to a clinic that does blood tests and give you results right away to make sure that I am. I am so scared since my second pregnancy was such a nightmare!!!!

I need advice, I am currently on the pill and have never missed a dose.. and this last month had sex ONCE ( i know only once...).. but ive missed my period and it looks like i might be pregnant (first time).. Im not married and wanted to wait till then to start a family and I currently live with my boyfriend.. Hello everyone. I am considering the Lap band and I am a 25yr old female. I have a four month old son which is one of the reasons I want to become healthy. My question is, will I still be able to have another child in the future? Will I have to get my band removed if I do get prego? How does this work if you want to have another child. I am self-pay and I don't want to spend my money now on the band if I will have to rule out the possiblity of having more children or possibly have to have the band removed if I decide to have another child. im really depressed. i was banded a year and 4 days ago, i lost around 50lbs, i was starting to put weight on before i got pregnant because my band wasnt tight enough and i could still eat lots, well i got pregnant in december and now i weigh the same as i did when i had my band op. i am 6 and a half months pregnant but i feel huge, i know the baby weight is probably only a stone but ive put on loads, i feel so bad about this. i can still eat just about normaly even though ive had two fills, i just feel like its never going to work for me and im always going to be "FAT" people say to me, youll lose it when youve had the baby but i dont think i will. i can still eat …

I'm thinking ahead - we may want to have a second child someday (in the not-too-distant future, as I'm not getting any younger! ), and I was wondering if anyone on here has gotten pregnant after being banded. I'd love to hear about your experience!
