Hello all and congrats to everyone who is pregnant or has already had their baby. I am looking forward to the day when I can join you. I'm hopping by May my husband and I can start trying (skipping June due to the fact my husband says no sex in June because then the baby would be born in March which would interupt March Madness .) I would like to loose some more weight  to have a really healthy pregnancy but its so hard to "weight". I have a question for you all....In what unique ways did you tell your husbands/mothers you were pregnant? Looking forward to this day very much and love hearing peoples stories.

Ok so my sister was just banded dec 5, 08 and she just found out yesterday that she's 2 months prego meaning that she conceived literally right after surgery. (I know what a dumb dumb) She hasn't told her doctor yet mainly because of fear and I told i don't know how this will affect her baby. So... basically I wanna know just how much trouble she's in. Thank you in advance!

well, as of this past Friday, i'm on "complete and total" bed rest... my blood pressure has been going up and at my appt on the 31st it was 140/101... the only things i'm allowed to do: go to the bathroom take 1 shower a day make a simple lunch for myself only (she said sandwich) that's it... what cant i do: no dishes no cooking no laundry no CHILDCARE () it sucks and its boring. i was in the hospital all weekend and it was just boring as all - whatever -.... docs want me to stay preggo for at least 2 1/2-3 more weeks, but if BP cant be controlled, they'll induce me earlier. i did get the steroid shots to strengthen his lungs...

Sorry for the long intro...but I think I need to vent a little bit. My husband and I have been thinking about starting a family, probably in the summer or fall. I moved to NJ a few years ago, but I never got around to establishing a relationship with an OB/GYN. I had gone to one in 2006, but didn't like him at all. So, after looking online, I found one that was near my house. I went to go see her on Jan 21, and she did a breast exam on me, and told me that I wouldn't need a mammogram until I was 35. I told her that I have a history of breast cancer in my family, and many of them were diagnosed in thier early 40s. She told me that I shouldn't worry about that, I sho…

Hello, I am so glad for this website. I was banded in 01/2008. I was told I would have problems getting pregnant because I have PCOS. I waited until my bandiversay and I just found out I was pregnant!!! I'm so excited but nervous. Any support from my fellow pregnant banders would be appreciated. My doctors appointment is not until next week, can anyone give specific advice on exercising, can you continue to excerise like you were? Thanks again.

well I am 22 weeks pregnant and all was going great. Up until last week I had gained only 2 kilos and was pretty happy. I was able to eat a moderate amount, nottoo much, but enough according to dr and dietician. so I remained unfilled. Then last week I started experiencing mega heart burn and was unable to hold much down. I was paranoid somthing had happened to my band. But going to see my band doctor he said that pressure during pregnancy can cause the band to become tighter. He took out 1 mil and now I can eat again. Not too much, but in a week I have put on 3 kilos. I am npw back up to 112 kilos I am assuming it must be just because I was dehydrated. But I am so sc…

I'm sorry if this is jumbled, but I am really out of it right now. On Sunday 2/8 at about noon, I had some slight vaginal bleeding and called my doctor. He had me go to the hospital to get checked. I was having a small amount of cramping, but nothing unusual. When I was checked, they found that I was 4 cm dilated and the bag of waters was bulging out of my cervix. I was put head down in the bed for the rest of the day, but at about 8 am on Monday morning, my Water broke. I was monitored throughout the day for infection and my temp was creeping up and up. Late afternoon, my temp was 100.4 and it was determined that I had an infection and must deliver. Bei…

I just found out last night that I am pregnant. It is a welcome surprise, however it is a surprise! I just got banded on July 1st & I know our docs prefer that this didn't happen until a year after being banded. I guess I just don't know what to expect now. Do I have to get completely unfilled now? or can I just keep on going?? I feel like I eat enough, I have been losing about a pound a week. I'm scared about gaining weight from being pregnant-- I promised myself that I would never go that direction again!! I'm caught in a bittersweet moment right now (although I know it'll be a wonderfully-sweet moment in the end!) If anybody has some input on this-- PLEASE help me!…

Ok so we just ofund out YESTERDAY that we are pregnant with baby #4!!!! This will be the first baby after being banded for a year now. We are more then estatic about our blessing however, this was totally not planned I mean the day before I was looking into tummy tucks lol! I have lost 80lbs and am terrified of gaining too much weight. I have a 10 cc band and currently have 6 cc's in. Also we are military and live in Germany and where we are I have to go an hour away to deal with someone who actually knows what a lap band is lol! :cursing: So my main question is when did you all get the slight or total unfill? I know I need to be taking in more calories for…

I am currently breastfeeding my almost 4 month daughter. I am seriously considering lapband. I know there is a 6 month process to go through before getting it done (per my insurance) and was wondering how this all worked out for everyone else? Or if anyone has been in my shoes. How does the sleep study work out when you have a baby that needs to nurse all night? I need this surgery for my health. I know I am putting a horrible strain on my heart and I want to be here for my children. I am 268 pounds and 5'2" tall. I gained a bunch while pregnant but was obese when I got pregnant too. And will losing weight too fast after the surgery harm my nursing baby? Thank…

I haven't posted on here in ages. I'm one of those who've had a difficult road with my band and original surgeon. I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant with my second child. I was banded in 2005. I thought some may want to hear about my pregnancy experience with the band. My first pregnancy (without the band) I started out around 302lbs and ended up losing 40lbs due to daily nausea/vomiting. My daughter was born at 38 weeks via c-section due to hypertension and a failed induction. She weighed 7lbs, 2 ozs and is a healthy 4 year old. This pregnancy I've had very little nausea and vomiting compared to my previous pregnancy. I've only "lost it" a couple times per month on a…

I have been hungry lately but it comes on in such a rush. For instance, tonight I was working, got off work and decided to go to the grocery store with my husband. On the way to the store, I was sooo hungry my stomach actually ached. I was so hungry it was like a physical pain. I bought some marinated/pickled mushrooms and artichokes and ate them in the car on the way back to the house. That in itself is strange because mushrooms and artichokes are not my usual choice of a hunger buster nor eating in the car, lol. This has happened several times in the last few weeks. Just strange episodes where I am fine and could eat in another hour or two . . . until 5 minutes la…

Was your band doc an integral part of your pregnancy? I am just wondering because I found out last week that I am pregnant. I am hoping that I won't have to get an unfill during pregnancy, and that I won't need to consult my surgeon for anything. Not because I don't want to gain weight, but because my surgeon is not covered by my insurance. Long story short, I have a different insurance now than I had for surgery, and my surgeon and the hospital he works at is not covered. And because I have a realize band, none of the surgeons for my new insurance will touch me. So I am just curious if any of you had complications from the band with your pregnancies, and/or i…

How long did you wait before trying to conceive after getting banded? Did your doctor recommend a waiting time? My doctor suggested 12 - 18 mths. because the majority of the weight loss is in the first year. I was banded in October 08 and just planning for down the road. I do plan to wait until the end of the year to start trying. I'm still on the pill and taking other precautions as well. I’m not in a huge hurry and am committed to my band and weight loss and have no issues with waiting. My doctor does have experience with banders and does work with your ObGyn. I feel confidant about that. I gained 50 pounds with my 1st pregnancy and had gestational diabetes and pre- ecl…

Ok so for about a week now, Im seeing this mentioned more and more. So, is it something about the lap band in particular, or is it more the weight loss that makes us more fertile? Im saying us, even though I am not at all fertile. Im hoping that I will be one of the lucky ones with this side effect. How many of you who are pregnant, were having a hard time getting there before the band? I dont have PCOS, but I havent been able to get pg. I havent gone to any lengths to try (nothing medically supervised or induced). Im just wondering could this be a double blessing for me.

okay I'm 22 and I've been married 5 years (I know I'm young and weird) I've have 2 misscarraiges and they don't know why, I presonally think it's beause of my weight (I'm 333lbs). I've been concidering the lapband for about a year now and here is my delemma... My hubby FINALLY agreed to "try" to conceive (both times before were suprises) I REALLY REALLY REALLY want a baby, but... I'm so overweight , plus I'm bipolar and I feel like everything is against me! should I wait to have the band until after I have a healthy pregnancy or get the band and wait ANOTHER year in hopes that I will have a Healthier pregnancy? I want to give my child every possible chance at a healthy s…

Hello friends! I tried looking for a thread specific to my concern with this and didn't, so I'm posting a new one. I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and am concerned about the lack of morning sickness I am experiencing. Our first pre-natal appointment isn't until December 29th, so I'm naturally going a little bonkers here. I've read that lack of morning sickness is tied to higher rates of miscarriage and of course, that is very concerning to me! 1. How many of you out there suffered from morning sickness? 2. When did it start? books say it starts around 5 or 6 weeks. 3. If you DIDN'T have morning sickness, did you go on to have a healthy pregnancy? I'm just a bit…

got a lap band, then got pregnant 9 months later, during pregnancy I had awful mornign sickness for 4 months and I tossed my cookies every day all day, I could hear the band and my stomach felt like it was being wrung out like a wash cloth then poof, I was starving and could eat or drink more than I should have been able to... I did not get the lap band liquid taken out when I got pregnant at my surgeon and obgyns reccomendations ( so I wouldn't gain too much) but now I can eat too much and I'm hungry. I had been reluctant to get another adjustment after he was born because I am breastfeeding but now that he's 3 months I think the breastfeeding has been established enough…

Hi, I am really sad right now. I am currently the only one of my group of girlfriends that is pregnant. 2 others are TTC but have had difficulties (fertility issues, miscarriages, etc). During the 6 months we were trying to get preg, me & my closest girlfriend "M" (who is one of the TTC ones) talked constantly about it. Trying, ovulation, frustration, etc. We emailed, hung out just the 2 of us so we could talk about it without the others going nuts or getting bored, texted, etc. When I found out I was preg, she was the FIRST person to know, I called her shaking and crying even before hubby knew. Since I've been preg, I have continued to ask "M" how things are going…

My doctor expressed today that she is becoming concerned about my weight loss. I started around 154 when I conceived and now I am at 142. I lost 1 pound since my last OB visit a month ago but she said that now that I am nearing the halfway point I need to start going up. I am not dieting at all right now. I eat when I am hungry and drink plenty or milk and orange juice. I am trying to avoid the junk food but I eat plenty of healthy foods. I am eating somewhat cautiously but not depriving myself. I am not sure why on earth I haven't gained because I am certainly eating a lot more. I have also being eating a bowl of Cereal as almost a fourth meal everyday. She…

This is more about trying to conceive than about the lap band, per se. If your husband or significant other is taking/has taken a testosterone supplement (like brandname Androgel) and you are trying to get pregnant, please have him see a doctor immediately! These products usually create male infertility (sometimes permanently). The dosage and the length of time he's been taking it have a huge impact on fertility recovery- so do not hestitate. We had no idea that this is one of the side effects (you'd think that increasing testosterone would help in the trying to conceive department), but using these products often brings sperm count down to zero and possibly leads to te…

Hi everyone! So I was banded in 2007. I had lost about 60 lbs and got pregnant (with about 50 lbs to go before reaching my goal weight) with my first baby! Pregnancy went fine, without a hitch. I never had my band unfilled, gained only 18 lbs during my entire pregnancy, had a healthy 8 1/2 lbs baby, who is doing great! I lost all my baby weight within the first month after having the baby, I am back to where I was before being pregnant, my baby is four months old now. Now, during the past four months, I have been experiencing this tightness with the band. It's gotten worst I think. I have been living on liquids and purees for the past two months, and I am not loo…

I am now 10 weeks pregnant and I have been having alot of pain at my port site. It seems to be mostly after eating. It is just really sore. Even when I haven't eaten in a while, I will get sharp pains from bending over or simple activity. I am concerned that something is wrong with my port? Could it be that things are just moving around in there and it is rubbing on a rib? Has anyone had this kind of pain with pregnancy? I would think if it was because I am too tight, that it would hurt someplace other than my port. Not sure. Please help.

I only am saying pregnancy rash because I never had it before I was pregnant!!! 2 months pregnant I got a rash on my back and some burning in my hands. I went to my GP, he said the back looked like ring worm, and my hands weren't real bad so he dismissed it really. I went to my OBGYN a couple weeks later with no improvement (hands were getting worse, started cracking and burning more) she said to put a different cream on my ringworm and to use the cream my GP gave me for my back on my hands. I didn't use it on my hands, just because that rash comes and goes.. to no known pattern I can figure out. Last night it flared up and it was so bad.. it burns so bad, felt like …

My g'parents are very confused with the interwebs, so when I send them pictures of ultrasounds or youtube videos, etc.. they can't figure out how to open it, blah blah. It's become a headache so I found a (free) website where you can dummy it all down.. post info, pictures, etc.. no more having to open attachments--which seems to be beyond them. Also, they can keep it bookmarked for reference.. and of course, especially for us first time moms new baby stuff is always fun. :huh2: Create Your Free Baby Website at Baby Home Pages .net Here's mine.. So by last menstrual I am 16 weeks and 3 days along in my pregnancy. By an ultrasound taken at 11 weeks (I couldn't go at 8 weeks because I was traveling in the Middle East for a month) I am now 14 weeks and 6 days along by ultrasound dating. I had an ob appointment today and they listened to the fetal heartbeat which was strong and very easy to find. I told my ob doctor that over the weekend i just started to feel the baby moving (miniscule fluttering sensation deep in the pelvis at mid-morning after I drink my 1 cup of coffee a day) and she said that most people don't feel it before 16 weeks at the earliest and sometimes not until much later. I also showed my …

Well to start let me give you a little history. My first pregnancy 2years ago I had acid reflux really bad. I got banded 7months after my DH was born and Did fine with no acid reflux up until my second fill (6months after banding). 2nd fill was too tight and had to go back down to 1.2cc in my 4cc band which was my origial fill. Acid reflux was still present but I didn't want it completely unfilled (I mean I paid outta pocket for this thing and I was a slow looser so I was going to stick it out if you know what I mean-no pain no gain or loss that is!) So I was put on protonix which curbed the throat pain but didn't get rid of the acid reflux all together. My fill doc …

Hello everyone. I'm surprised that we don't have more posts about morning sickness (read: all day sickness) on the board, but maybe that's because most of you are luckier than me. I'm 8 weeks along, and I'm finding that for the better part of the day, I have a constant undercurrent of nausea. What's interesting is that the nausea feels less like sea-sickness (which I understand is what morning sickness-type nausea typically feels like), but rather the nausea feels more like a bloated, heavy-full feeling in my stomach. It almost feels like I've eaten way too much and now I want to throw up (but not because food is stuck in the band). I don't know if I'm describing it …

I'm 13 weeks along and my baby books tell me that I may now be able to feel my uterus if I push down approximately 3-4 inches below my belly button. So last night, I felt around underneath my pannus and tried to feel the uterus, which should be extending upward now. I couldn't feel anything, except the fat I still need to lose. Has anyone else been able to feel their uterus, and if so, what does it feel like? I've given up on the hope of having a cute baby bump. Being 6'0 tall and still needing to lose a good 50 lbs, I'm not going to look like a woman trying to smuggle a watermelon. But now I'm a little worried that I won't be able to feel things such as my uterus …

Hi everyone, I went to see my doctor yesterday because when I spoke to the nurse she insisted on me going in and completely empty out my band before the first trimester end. I've been experiencing an all-day sickness. Most days I would throw up twice, once in the morning and once at night. My food wasn't getting stuck, so I know that it's not the band, it's the baby! Anyhow, the doctor mentioned an article that he read in Los Angeles Times regarding a supplement called Choline. He said it's really good for us preggos... I found the article that he was telling me about so I just wanted to share the link with all the ladies here. Protein diet. If it's har…

1. The idea of a "shower" for the father? I put shower in quotes because I'm not talking about the traditional play stupid games, eat sugary food, get free baby stuff showers. More like a man party for the father to Celebrate with his friends, as much as men will admit to celebrating... 2. The idea of a "grandmother to be" party, to celebrate the grandmother's oassing into grandmotherhood? I'm considering both of these, don't know anyone who has actually done either. I've had a few of my showers (friends did something separate from family, work separate from people I know through organizations, etc) and even though two of them were couples showers, my husband be…

when i first got pregnant i was seriously freaked. not only b/c i never planned on popping out any rugrats but b/c of the band. my doctor considered me high risk and i was desperate for advice, or helpful words, or just support. i didn't find what i needed so i basically left. anyhow, i wanted to post my story so if someone has my same questions and fears maybe i can reassure them. i got pregnant after 8 months of being banded. not ideal, obviously, but timing has never been one of my strong suits. i barely lost any weight so i was extremely frustrated, disappointed, etc at the pregnancy. i got unfilled at 6 months. i am glad i waited b/c it kept me honest. Hello Ladies, First of all, I'm not sure if I'm pregnant. My period is about a week late. I took 5 Pregnancy tests (can you tell I'm one of those people who is a pain in the butt? ) 3 of the digital one showed "Pregnant" and 2 of them were the blue line type, it the plus wasn't that clear to see. Prior to this, I've been taking the chewable Flintstones Complete. Once I did the P-test and I realized i might be preggo, I started taking Prenatal Vitamins. I crush the prenatal pill and just add the powder to yogurt. My problem is the Fishoil softgel. That thing is Ginormous! For the pass two days, I have poke a hole into the softgel, squeeze out the…

Just thought I'd write about my getting pregnant. I have been banded one year and the surgeon says I can keep my fills in as long as I'm not having trouble. In May I turned 34 and thought good grief, I just don't want to wait any longer to get pregnant......but I am not married. So.....I made an appt with a fertility doc and found a sperm donor through a bank. I called the doc on my start of period, 7 days later I started ovulation pee sticks, then I got a positive and made an appt with the doc for the interuterine insemination. First try did not work, second one BINGO! I am now 8 weeks pregnant and have seen the baby twice on ultrasound.....everything looks go…

 Hi Everyone! I'm a "vet" bandster I guess (can't believe it's been 3 years!). Anyway, I've lost about 55 pounds total and got down to 185 for my wedding this past May, which was awesome! Unfortunately, I've managed to gain almost 15 of that back and currenly sitting a little under 200. I swore to myself that I'd never see the "2s" again! However, I just found out that I am pregnant (yayayayay!!!!!!) and very very nervous about gaining weight! I'm a very quick gainer unfortunately. I am so happy there is a new pregnant group here -- it didn't exist when I first got banded -- and I've read a lot about how you don't have to gain a lot of weight while pregnan…

I am looking to get pregnant at the end of this year but want to lose all my weight first. I gained about 70lb with my first baby and then got the band put in. Please tell me that I am not going to gain a lot the second time around. I am praying the band will help me to only gain 30-40lb with # 2. Please share any of your experiences with me. Thanks so much!!

Hi Guys! I'm just a newbie here.. but i'm sure glad to have stumbled across it! I am trying to search for info from pregnant ladies who have been previously banded, and find out if their port stuck out or showed at all as they got nice and big? Hello all! I have had 2 appointments be to be banded. My next appointment is in early December with the surgeon to find out what my pre-surgery goal weight should be. Im in NorCal and have Kaiser...they take FOREVER!! I am now in an amazing relationship. He and I have been best friends for the last 4 years and been STRICTLY friends. We have been living together for the last year, again strictly as friends we had not even kissed, and on October 1st this year we decided to be more than friends. It has been an AMAZING month!! I guess I shouldn't have come in here talking cloth diapers recently. It looks like I'm pregnant. I had an ultrasound on Friday, I'm 6 weeks, due June 27, 2009. This was very unexpected. My husband just got scheduled to have a vasectomy in December. Our other two children are 7 and 5. I had pre-eclampsia with both kids, so I'm quite worried that will happen again. I hope not. I had hoped to lose more weight before even considering another child, but we had obviously decided that we wouldn't have any more. I guess someone else had other plans.

Now I have no interest in food. My OB is monitoring the grown of the baby and isn't yelling at me as long as she continues to grow correctly. I've had some nausea, dry hurling and occasional…
