My story Realize in Jan of 2010 lost 50lbs and have gained 10 of it back since Feb of this year....grrr. I am working on losing it right now. and then I hope to not gain more then 10-15. I only have 3.5 cc's and I do feel tighter in the past week or so.

I saw my surgeon this past Friday for my 6 week check. Everything looked really good, he was very happy with my progress and the nutritionist was thrilled with my eating logs and feels I am doing really well. Here's the seriously exciting part.... He thinks I will hit goal in 3-4 months! He told me previously that once I hit goal and was stable with all my labs and such he would clear me to TTC again! Holy crap! how cool is THAT! He said to expect a year or so, but bc of all the weight I lost BEFORE the surgery I am way ahead of schedule. I have only 30-40 pounds to be at goal and that is SOO crazy to me! AND, he said he wants me to get in to see my OB and possib…

I have felt so alone about all of this, but my hubby and I started trying to conceive back in February and since then have had two early miscarriages . . and then last month I got an ovulation test and my last cycle we pinpointed a good time to try to conceive and . . 'tried'. I am now a week late so was excited that maybe we were finally pregnant but have just started spotting this afternoon and I'm devastated. I want to cry and scream and . . . oh I don't know. I'm just very tired and emotional I suppose and I'm so exhausted after this year. I want to try and stay positive but am finding it really hard at the moment

  4. Hi, I'd like to know if you got pregnant within a year of getting a sleeve done what gender was your baby? I had been trying for more than a year and a half before I got my sleeve; I have a history of infertility. Anyway, I have two boys and was doing a ton of research and swaying while trying to get pregnant. Data shows that weightloss sways for a girl (changes the PH in the body), so I'm just wondering what gender you had if you were still losing weight from your sleeve and got pregnant!! Thanks in advance

  6. I'm not even pregnant yet, but have been trying to conceive for about six months, and have had a few clomid cycles. During the first two or three months I gained about 15 pounds, and I am not shaking them. I also have been on and off my narcolepsy medicine while trying to conceive (off during two week wait, on until ovulation)-- something that influences my metabolism. I'm currently eating about 1600 to 1800 calories a day and while I'd prefer that to be between 1200 and 1400 I still think I am making progress and eating healthier all the time-- I have had the band for some time, since March of 2007, and after the first six months I have lost very slowly, but always…

  7. I lost over 100lbs with the band. I was 257 went down to 149 then I had a tummy tuck and one year later was pregnant (good planning right) I weighed 166 at 8 weeks pregnant. My band was loosened a about 1/2 way at 2 months pregnant. I was gaining weight really rapidly so I asked my doctor to put more back in. I was partially restricted for most of the pregnancy but still gaining weight at above the recommened amount. I was completely unfilled last week due to bad, bad heartburn and even thought that is helping me I am hungry all the time and gaining weight really fast - I am now 33 weeks and am up to 212! One of the reasons I had this done was because of infertility. Should I go back on birth control for a year? That would be most convenient, but I don't want to jepordize my fertility! Any Thoughts?

I'm Mallory, I have been banded for 6 months and doing great  Before my surgery the surgeon told me he wanted me to wait at least a year after surgery to get pregnant. Not only because of recovery, but to lose as much weight as possible. My husband and I have always intended to TTC when our daughter turned 2. She turns 2 in January, my bandiversary is in March... When I talked to the surgeon today he told me he'd like me to wait ANOTHER year before getting pregnant. And that once I do get pregnant it is VERY important that I NEVER vomit. He then said something (don't remember wording) that led me to believe that I would be his first patient to get preg…

Has anyone ever used a fertility bracelet? some say it's hooey others swear by it. I just purchased one-I figure it can't hurt. My DH and I have been trying for a while with no luck. Of course it doesn't help that my cycles have NEVER been normal. I can go months without a period and have tried bc but that just makes the whole cycle go wacko. I am doing alot of praying but found the site on etsy.com for Artsy Chicas fertility bracelets, so I figured why not? Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else has heard of them. I also just read about St. Gerard the patron saint of women who are struggling to conceive. Cheryl

Hi everyone, I haven't really kept up with posting on LBT, but I did a few times during my pregnancy so I thought I would come back and let everyone know that I delivered a healthy, NINE pound baby girl on August 28th! She was 2 weeks and 2 days late! We had a planned unassisted birth in our home, and everything went perfectly. I have the 4cc band and it's almost filled to capacity. I did not have an unfill during pregnancy and I gained 41lbs. So far I have lost 28lbs and I look forward to getting active again to help shed the rest and then some. Hello Lady's I need some info on PCOS and who better to ask than women that have lived it. Here is my situation. About a yr ago I confirmed I had several cysts and fibroid (PCOS). But as the doctor put it "none where in a location to cause immediate alarm, and removing them would cause more damage than help". They put me back on birth control and sent me on my way. It has now been a year and I just had a follow up ultrasound 2 weeks ago. I received a letter that said that the fibroid has grown but "no further evaluation/treatment is needed". WTF?! Is that it? Is that "normal"? I have a follow up with my doc in 2 weeks but its to check my progress on a diet pill s…

I wanted to share my experiences being pregnant and delivering with the band should it be helpful at all: - My 10cc band was filled to 5.5 cc at the time I learned I was pregnant - My surgeon suggested we leave the band filled as long as I could eat- subsequently I never had an unfill throughout my pregnancy - Food: Before I got pregnant I had not eaten any bread/crackers or other types of carbs since my surgery. My first trimester was filled with daily nausea and I got through it by turning to carbs to settle my st…

My doctor is one that requires an unfill during pregnancy. No biggie, I thought.. I'm having a huge problem with weight gain though. Between my first OB's visit and my second (5 weeks) I had gained 14 pounds. During that time, I was constantly queasy (keeping food in tummy made queasiness better), had quit smoking (can't smoke? EAT! ) and received my unfill. So things are not stacked in my favor. However, after going to the OB and being told nicely that that is a f…

Hi all! I am new to this site and new to this forum. I've been banded since June 2007. I weighed 252 lbs on surgery day. Since then I have been through a lot to say the least! My low weight is 130 lbs. In about January of this year I decided to see my band Dr. Things weren't "working" anymore. After battling addiction and binging and purging (post banding bulimia) I think my band had had enough! I went in and went under fluoro and Doc said I stretched my band. He said I would need to unfill and go on a strict liquid diet for 2 weeks and then come in to see if it returned to size and then get a fill. Between those visits, however, I learned I was pregnant!! 27. Hello Fellow LapBanders, I havent been on here in a looong time. So I'll make a long dramatic story short. So I was banded in July, 2008 and have lost approximately 22 lbs with this thing. I honestly didn't understand the nutritional classes, not that I could really go to them. At that time, I had just gotten a new job, a new car and a new apartment and my only means of support system, my mother, had just moved 13 hours away to St. Louis with me still in Richmond, VA. (job related move). I just don't think I was in the right place to have the surgery then. After a year or so of fumbling through Band-om, I tried to talk my doc into switching my band out for a RNY. I was having pains under my right breast and was told it was heart burn or acid reflux, well needless to say when I went in for an ultrasound I asked the tech to check my Gallbladder and sure enough I have a large amount of stones.. It is the 2nd most common condition in pregnancy to heartburn..which I didn't know.. Just thought I would throw this out there…

He weighed 6 lb. 7 oz. and is 19.5 inches long. I am so thankful to my band for allowing this beautiful baby into my life. I hope all who pray for a lap band baby get their dreams realized. I requested an early testing as I suspected this was going to be the case - but it's still somewhat scary even though I was expecting it. I did the one hour glucose tolerance test and apparently my numbers were so high that they aren't even going to bother doing the three hour test. I have my meeting with the nutritionist and nurse this coming Tuesday. I'm a bit freaked out by how it might have affected the baby so far. I have no idea how long my sugars have been out of whack, but it's entirely possible that they have been for a while. Do any of you have stories to share about you…

  49. Hello, Tomorrow I am going to have my IUD taken out as DH and I want to start trying for our third baby. We have two boys, so we are hoping for a girl this time around. We plan on charting ovulation and temperature (luckily I have had no issues in the past getting pg - ds #2 was a surprise!) and trying for a girl that way. My question for you all is, have any of you tried this, and succeeded/failed? More specifically, if you are still actively losing weight while trying, does this mess with your hormones enough that it can cause ovulation to be unpredictable?
