Hello, My name is Rosie, I am 30 years old and just got banded last week. I am 5 days post-op and struggling. My journey began 1 year ago when at Disneyland I lost my son becuase my legs could not run to keep up with an active 2 year old. The fear I felt that day got me thinking that something had to be done. I could not continue to stay trapped in this body. I was lazy and knew it and until that day did not care much. There was nothing like the fear I felt that something horrible was happening and my massive frame could not move fast enough to stop it. Thanks to God nothing bad happened, security guards found my son wandering around and reunited him with me an hour later. One good thing though the crank in my brain started turning. I started really looking at what my problem was and looking for solutions. A co-worker was looking into Gastric bypass and gave me her Doctor's #. I called and after a nice conversation I knew that the Lap-Band was the route I wanted to take. I met with Dr. Carson Liu in January and was told right away that my insurance was demanding a 6 month nutrition plan. It did not matter to me that I would have to start slowly as long as the end result was an approval and my band. After 6 months of gradual weight loss, totaling 16 pounds, I got my wish. On July 2nd I was told of my approval and was schedule for July 7th, 2009. That morning I arrived and the Medical center at 6am, my husband and now 3 year old in tow. It all went quite quickly. I was in and out of surgery. Wide awake, nauseous, and wondering what did I do to myself by 9:30 am as I was being helped back into my clothes. The sad thing though I was never really shown how to drink my liquids what I could and could not have and I wish they had told me more. SO here I am 5 days later and just finding out that I am not supposed to have sugar, thanks to this board. Later today I plan to his GNC and return this Isopure (it makes me puke) and try to find something else. As for the sugar thing I wish I could have known so I wouldnt have bought so much Boost. Currently I am barely starting to feel better. My incision pain is more itching than pain so its healing. My nausea is tolerable mostly. My dry mouth has not gone away. I constantly feel like I have something in my throat I cant swallow (is that normal??). Lastly my exhaustion is still here but not as bad. Well thanks for reading, I look forward to reading any suggestions you all may have. One last thing I didnt have an upper G.I, do all docs do that?
