We're getting so close, and I was finally able to get my maternity photo shoot done so thought I would share with everyone. Update on the medical stuff super fast; 2 weeks ago I was put on prednisone to help my platelets stabilize. They had dropped down into the 70Ks and normal is 150-400K, the anesthesiologist didn't feel comfortable with my numbers that low to have an epidural or spinal block so the steroid therapy is the only thing that they could give me to get my numbers up. 10 days on the pred and my numbers are up to 121k, still not within normal range, but over the 85k that is needed for the spinal WOOT WOOT. If it weren't for VSG, I would not be able to ha…

I was just curious if anyone has had experience with a breech pregnancy post lap-band? I am currently 34 1/2 weeks and scheduled to be induced in 2 days due to preclampsia & gestational diabetes I've been in the hospital for 24 days now. At my ultrasound yesterday it was discovered my son has decided to flip into the breech position ughhhh My Dr.'s are planning to try and turn him tomorrow evening and am terrified this may damage my port! EEK!

I went for my post op follow up and I lost 8lbs at there office. But at my primary office a total of 14lbs. In so happy , I thought maybe more but hey I'll take that. I was told to start eating mushy foods and I did. I had to meals today and I noticed in slightly sore. I might just have one meal tomorrow and shakes and yogurts the rest of the day. Good luck to those out there feeling my pain. So far it's worth it.

Had a pretty amazing little appointment today with the maternal perinatal ob(high risk doc). I hit the fabulous 29lbs gained by their scale, but they admit they got a new scale and it seems to be weighing everyone heavy. At this point, I honestly don't care about the number on the scale, I'm just ready for her to get here. Tatum is perfect, she's growing, thriving, over 5lbs at this point, her lung/pulmonary function testing was normal today, her echo was spot on normal, and she has a full head of baby hairs ! ! ! Dr. B even said if I were to deliver today, she would perfect. I start the prednisone therapy tomorrow, & will have platelets rechecked in…

My Dr, said he filled me back to where I was before but I can eat a lot more than I should be. Any one else having trouble losing weight after pregnancy????

  6. A little history...My husband and I tried to get pregnant for a little over a year on our own with no luck. We then went to Shady Grove Fertility Center and I had lots of testing done and it was decided that I needed to have a myomectomy to remove a whole bunch of fibroids...I also wasn't ovulating at the time (cycles ranges from 45-90 days if I remember correctly??). Finally in January 09, I had my myomectomy and planned to returned to RE in May 09. In April, my husband sat me down and talked to me about his concerns regarding me getting pregnant at such a high weight. I agreed, although was very upset at first, and started a search which ultimately led to the VSG. …

Hello ladies. I know you all will be able to help if anyone can. I am 18 weeks 4 days along. I currently have 6cc in my 10cc band ( have had it at 6cc since August of '10 ). During the day I can still eat and drink fine, no problems at all. HOWEVER, at night I am waking up literaly choking on reflux. I figure if this keeps up I will have aspiration pneumonia in no time at all. I have stopped eating and drinking after 7pm and that has not helped. Do you all think that I need to have some of my saline taken out? I dont understand why I am fine all day long with my band, but the nighttime is turning into a nightmare. Any ideas or suggestions?

I will be 1 year out from VSG surgery in May and am now 15 weeks pregnant and very excited!! I was just wondering if anyone else was in the same spot and if so how is the eating and weight gain/loss going? I am terrified to gain, I know I am eating healthy for the baby and I have just gained 2 pounds this week... so I am a little freaked out even though I know I am growing a healthy baby. I just want to know if anyone else feels the same?

Fair warning this is a pretty emotional post, and while I rarely share my emotional stuff, I ask that you all pray for my family. For those who have followed the pregnancy fairly closely, or that I have spoken to one on one, know my history with the jacked up clotting disorder and aspirin therapy to help my platelet function etc etc. My platelets had been stabilized until last week and they've dropped to 77k. Which is too low for an epidural, and now we are looking at other therapies to help with this situation. As I laid there bawling when they told me that the only way for me to deliver safely is under general anesthesia, I just went right back to my h…

So, I mentioned a few days ago that I had the big 24 week checkup today for little Miss Tatum and myself for the pregnancy and stated I would post an upate for those that have been following our progress in the pregnancy. While I understand this is not the pregnancy forum, this is my home, I do not post regularly on the pregnancy forum because it's just you guys so that's my purpose for sharing here, and for any other mommies-to-be post-VSGers that have questions of concerns. Thus far, we are both thriving. She is weighing about 8-10oz heavier than what she should. My labs have remained stellar in regards to metabolic panels, CBC and all Vitamin levels. The cl…

OK I am 1 year post op and starting IVF.... I've had a really great first year and feel that I can totally control my eating (either pregnant or not). I am starting the IVF process. WL doc doesn't really care. IVF is my last resort. I've battled infertility for the last 5 years and to be honest it is probably the #1 reason I got my VSG.... I am really hoping that some of you who have had the same issue can provide me with some feedback! Thanks!

My name is Danielle and I have five children, including 4 year old triplets. I was banded 2 years ago and have lost 100 lbs with about 100 more to go. I have had a lot of problems with my band and was scheduled to be revised to a bypass in November. I just found out I am pregnant with #6. I'm totally shocked. I haven't ovulated on my own in almost a decade. I got the letter yesterday telling me the date of my surgery and just cried. I know I will eventually be really happy about this baby, but I'm just do disappointed that I have to wait even longer to get the rest of this weight off.

  14. I just found out that I'm pregnant this morning! AAAGH! I almost don't know what to do, I was not supposed to be able to get pregnant. I am so glad that this section of the forum exists, I think I'll be spending a lot of time here. I was banded June 8th. I've lost 77 pounds since my pre-op diet starting in late April.

Hey there, im currently 20 years old and 38 weeks pregnant. I'm trying to find some info on getting my band refilled after the baby is born. My surgeon had me defill my band when i was 11 weeks due to morning sickness and having trouble getting my prenatals down. I simply chose to leave it unflled for the remainder of my pregnancy. So now my due date is coming and ideally i would like to have my band filled within days of giving birth since i wont be breast feeding. however everything ive read says most doctors wait till 6 weeks pp. anyone have had experience with this??

I have had constant nausea... feel so weak and so tired and have no energy at all, cant stomach much of anything and my gag reflex is super sensitive now.... so I went to see my surgeon today thinking maybe i had a slip.. They did an upper GI and said my band looks perfect. Said maybe its my gal bladder, then jokingly said "or maybe your pregnant." Let me start by saying I've never previously been pregnant. I'm struggling with foods I don't typically have problems with. I've felt gassy and bloated for days. Bowel and urination isn't normal. I've been had lower back pain and have been more tired than usual. What is the best test for earliest pregnancy testing at home. Part of me thinks I'm crazy to even think it. I haven't felt this out of whack and my last period was very abnormal and I'm consistent since I've been on the pill for years.

It made it very comfortable and discreet to nurse in public, and its thin and breathable so baby doesn't get to got... well unless you are in hot weather... but then baby would get hot anyway. This promo code allows you to get as made as you would like (one per order, but you can make several orders) for just $5 shipping and these covers are usually around $30. I got this code in my e-mail and I am no longer nursing so I figured maybe one or some of you could get to use out of it Code 4 both sites: Breastfeeding free udder cover or nursing pads: https://www.uddercovers.com/cart Free baby carrier: https://www.sevens…

One of the suckiest things about PCOS? Late periods! I was "due" to get my period on 7/23, and on that day, I spotted. Then nothing. Absolutely nothing. I have all the symptoms of PMS but no bleeding! I am now almost 2 weeks late. I took a pregnancy test over a week ago and it was negative. Should I do another? I just think, after 7 years, what are the chances I get pregnant NOW? I don't want to set my self up for disappointment. Besides, when I DO skip a period, I dread it because I KNOW that when I finally do get it, it is gonna come with a vengeance! Ugh. Anyone else deal with this on a regular basis?

Just wanted to drop in and share my story. After being told that we would never conceive naturally due to my PCOS and weight issues I decided to have lapband surgery in January of 2009 in a last ditch attempt to lose weight and hopefully either get pregnant naturally or help our chances of IVF. I managed to lose around 20 kilos (44 pounds approx) in just over a year and was so in love with my band. I had and ultrasound done on my ovaries in the November of 2009 which revealed that due to the weight loss I no longer had cysts on my ovaries. My cycle also returned to every 33 days. Before the band I would only get around 2-3 a year. We managed to conceive naturally…

A small pannus, arms that could fly, and more than enough belly skin to go around despite my still needing to lose another 50 after I have the bambino and only being down about 70 some pounds. Will I get more loose skin as the bump starts to grow? More stretch marks? Or will the loose skin I already have just sort of take up the slack? However, with my weight being at it was, I was not ovulating correctly. I have lost 50lbs and my fertility specialist says that I am ovulating regularly now, and can conceive at this point... at any time. I got the lap band 6 months ago. I am at a good fill, I can eat what I want...but I just eat about 1/4 of what I use to eat. I am starting to finally exercise and I am considered 'healthy'. I am no longer on any medication. My new OB/GYn says that she can prevent those miscarriages this time but its best for me and baby to lose weight. So i have set a goal to lose 100lbs before december and i have 52lbs more to go, hopefully i can lose more than a 100lbs, What are thoughts getting pregnant a few months before the 1year the band doctor says i should weight?

Any mothers out there successfully take the weight take back off after being pregnant. I am also breast feeding how will the lapband effect that?

  35. I am pre-op and considering the VSG. Unlike with the lap, which what I was considering originally, there is no ability to "open" the stomach up anymore to allow for an easier way to make sure you get enough nutrients for you and baby with VSG, as you all know. DH and I plan to have one more child once I finish school and we get settled. I have already lost one baby at 20 weeks 5 days due to a condition that should have been prevented by the folic acid supplements I was taking, so nutrition during pregnancy would be a #1 priority, with or without the sleeve. My concern is that with the limited dietary intake that even with the supplements I may not be able to consume enoug…

But it is not magic and it does not fix your eating mentality. I am a food addict. With surgery or without. I find myself eating snack foods all day. I am not gaining weight, but this habit is preventing me from getting to goal. I feel like complete crap after eating junk food. I'm afraid I might stretch my tummy out again too. Is anyone else deal…
