OK I am 1 year post op and starting IVF.... I've had a really great first year and feel that I can totally control my eating (either pregnant or not). I am starting the IVF process. WL doc doesn't really care. IVF is my last resort. I've battled infertility for the last 5 years and to be honest it is probably the #1 reason I got my VSG....

I am really hoping that some of you who have had the same issue can provide me with some feedback!

I pull deedee's profile from the member listing and search her topics. She shared her struggle with TTC and her entire journey.

I didn't have to go with IVF so I can not comment on that aspect of TTC.

I was all set to go the IVF route as well, but it just wasn't meant to be. Four years ago I began with a fertility clinic and it was determined that I would need a myomectomy to remove fibroids, which I had done. Last summer (at almost a year out) I went back to the clinic thinking I was ready to try IUI and after some initial testing was told IVF was my only answer. I went in for a basic HSG and then a sonogram/mock transfer for IVF and found out (after very painful and bloody prodding) that neither could be done due to scarring...oh and they discovered new fibroids and cysts. It was determined, I think, that I needed to have something done with my tubes because of the scarring. I was heart broken, BUT my husband and I talked it over and decided that wasn't the right path for us at the time. We began looking into adoption and I'm VERY happy to say that it was the right path to parenthood for us! Almost 9 months later, from that RE appointment in July of 2010, we became parents to a beautiful and wonderful baby girl

I just wanted to share my story because the biggest reason for me having the VSG was to become a mom some day. Although I didn't do it the way I thought would happen, I still feel that the procedure helped lead me to parenthood and I'm so grateful that I am a very healthy mother who has energy and can live a very active lifestyle with my little girl. Wow! DeeDee thanks for sharing. I had a myomectomy in 2003....when they went in they found that my tubes were closed and unbeknowst to me they took them out along with 13 tumors. I was devastated--my doctor told me that IVF would be our only option. Hubby was against it at the time.

I was supposed to have a second surgery but I had a horrible accident two weeks prior in 2008 and derailed everything.

I would love to have a baby but right now I would not have enough support financially or emotionally at home to do IVF or adoption. I am currently 41 and provide a great majority of the household finances.

My hubby is adopted. BUT I do know other people that are adopted or have adopted a child e that have led normal lives. My hubby is just the exception.

My heart goes out to all of who who have struggled with infertility. It took my husband and I almost 5 yrs to conceive our first child, (due to PCOS), then we went on to have 3 more- all boys! So we have 4 boys and we are finalizing the adoption of our baby girl from the foster care system. We've had her from birth and she's 14 months now.

Libby, IVF is really a roller coaster of a journey. I think more so than my weightloss journey. I lost both of my tubes to ectopic pregnancies and IVF was our only option. We were fortunate to do a cycle 11 years ago that resulted in my 10 year old twin girls. I also have a 20 year old daughter. Our fertility struggles were extremely hard to cope with after all the losses that I suffered after my oldest was born. I would be happy to talk to you, answer any questions I can.
