I'm really nervous I'm making the right choice... My whole life I have struggled with my weight. I really want another baby but read that the port could detach from the stomach and cause a lot of pain and possible surgery, while pregnant. Any thought ??? Or has anyone experienced this????

This is my first post, but my most nagging question in regards to whether I should get the sleeve or not. I am currently 34 years old, 214 pounds, with no children yet. I am in the process of getting my sleeve date set (I know it will be soon) but I'm scared to do it before pregnancy. Some of my concerns include waiting another year+ to try, gaining the weight back, complications etc. My concern for not getting the sleeve first is gaining a lot more weight on my already overweight body, difficulty working, etc. As far as I know I don't have fertility issues but I'm sure the extra weight is not going to help. My debate is lose 30 pounds through diet/exercise first or get t…

After my miscarriage in April, I went from 195 lbs to 207 lbs in about a month. I hadn't changed my diet, but I stopped going to the gym per doctors orders. When I finally got the green light to go to the gym, I went ~3 times a week but the weight would not budge. Since getting our puppy 2 weeks ago, I am back in "one-derland" at 199. Only 4 lbs to go to my pre-miscarriage weight!

Hello I am about 1.5 years post surgery and I'm four months pregnant. Either I'm very constipated to where I take a laxative (okd by my obgyn) or I have very liquidy bowel movements for a few days... Anyone else experience this? I'm worried about the baby not gettin enough nutrients, etc Also, since I've become pregnant I've only gained like 2 pounds. Is that normal for someone who has had surgery to gain so little four months along? Btw, I started at 375 and I lost for six months got down to 240 now since pregnant I'm 242.5

Has anyone else that has experienced gestational diabetes had to go on the insulin pens or some variation thereof? I'm curious because while I was fine for the first two and half trimesters, the gestational diabetes issue popped up a few weeks into the third trimester. I tried controlling my blood sugars with my diet and with Glyburide, but the numbers would not stay stay constant. At least one meal would be messed up and be too high. Plus, I couldn't eat any starchy carbs at all without my blood sugars skyrocketing, which made the doctors unhappy. Even though most of the starchy carbs like Pasta or rice get stuck anyhow, they insisted I should be able to a small potato w…

I guess I will start off by saying that I had rny surgery in January of this year and the last couple months my husband has been talking about wanting to have a baby. We already have a 2 year old son. Since starting this wls journey in November 2012 I have lost a total of 81 pounds. Just this week I finally hit 199 pounds ( first time being under 200 in years). Part of me doesn't want to have another pregnancy because I'm afraid of the weight gain and that I won't lose the baby weight and I've worked so hard to get where I am now and want to continue until I get to my goal weight and part of me feels guilty for not wanting another child because I don't wanna gain any weig…

I am 8 months post surgery and 3 months pregnant. This is our 5th child and is definitely a suprise and a blessing! I am no stranger to morning sickness with my pregnancies but I have been having a few strange symptoms with this one... the most noteable is the insane amount of air in my stomach! It is especially bad when I don't eat for a few hours (ie in the morning or at work) The problem with this air is it offten becomes trapped in my stomach and my body fights it until I end up vomiting until its all out. I very rarely vomit food anymore only air and saliva. I have tried to find ways to prevent this but it doesn't seem to be helping... I was wondering if anyone else …

I tried to reply this in another board but was told I didn't have enough postings for it. I guess it's a vet board. Anyway... For me, my end goal and driving force is to have a baby. -- 7 years of trying, 3 failed IUIs, 1 miscarriage, diagnosis of stage 2 endometriosis and absolute heartbreak, I hope this works. I actually had to make the difficult choice between the VSG or IVF. At least with the VSG I get a little bit of hope at happiness.

Hey everyone, I'm 20 years old, 5"7 and currently weigh 165 from 222 on surgery day! I'm not planning to have children in the near future, but I know I want to eventually. I am not at my goal weight yet either, but I can tell I am going to need some reconstructive surgeries after I reach that point. Has anyone had any experience with having reconstructive surgeries (mainly breast augmentation, lift, tummy tuck or torso lipo) and then getting pregnant afterwards? Were the surgeries worth it prior or is that something someone should hold off on if they are planning on having kids. Anyone have any advice?!

It's been a few months since I posted; however, I remember reading the pregnancy threads with interest as a pre-op. Prior to my surgery, I had been infertile due to PCOS for many years, to the point of having less than 5 horrible, irregular periods each year. I had my sleeve done April 16, 2012, my weight on surgery day was 296 (down from 312 before preop dieting). By March 1St of this year, I had been holding steady at 180lbs since Christmas, with not much luck in losing more. I am 5`8 for reference. Around 220lbs, without medication, my periods returned with clocklike regularity - to the point of starting during the same two hour timeframe in the morning. Wow! In lat…

I feel like I am losing my mind!!! Doctors have always told me that it would be very difficult for me to conceive. I guess losing over 200 lbs. tends to kick the reproductive system in the ass? I have SO many questions! Does my actual weight loss surgeon need to be involved in my prenatal care? What about my diet should change and what should stay the same. I don't see how only eating a tiny bit of food can be good for a baby.....but I guess maybe it is OK? VSG'ers have been doing it forever, right? lol. I just started my new job about 6 weeks ago, and my insurance starts in one week. So I have to wait to see my gynecologist. I think I am going out of my mind wit…

I'm 7 months post-op, lost 90 pounds and about 8 weeks pregnant. My ob requested my calories go up to 2200 a day...I'm barely at 1200 and have gained 10lbs as I'm usually at 900. I'm terrified that I'm going to be right back where I was. I had surgery in Mexico and my surgeon and I don't exactly get along, I prefer not to contact him ever again lol. My pregnancy was a total surprise, actually found out on our honeymoon.

I am 7months post-op and my husband and I are having baby fever! My one and only little one will be turning 5 in July and he has been begging for a little sister. Is it too soon to get pregnant? I was also wondering if someone can give me a little insight on how hard it is to get the baby weight off once we deliver our little angel?

Soo...just spoke to my surgeons office. It seems that being only 6 weeks post-op and about 4 to 6 weeks pregnant, I'm good to continue. I called to ask if it would be safe for ME to continue and it seems so. My next question is about continuing to lose weight. I tend to lose weight while I'm pregnant anyhow due to morning (all day for the entire pregnancy) sickness. I lost about 60 while I was pregnant with my son, he was almost 9 pounds. Has anyone lost weight while being pregnant? Did you doctor get heartburn about it??

Hello all! I am currently 5 years post op and 23 weeks pregnant. Up until recently, I haven't had much to complain about regarding the band. In the last month or so I've noticed an increase in port pain to the point I am hurled over and almost in tears. The pain basically feels like my port is literally being torn from my abdomen. The other day after an increase in both pain and occurrence,, I was finally able to see my Doctor who decided the best option at this point would be to remove my port and once the baby is born, go back and re-attach a new port. Now I'm not worried about not having and fluid in my band as I've had zero fluid in my band for close to a year now. …

I had my band surgery in 2 years ago. Not even 2 months after surgery, I transferred from Northern California to Southern California for my job. A month and a half after my move, I found out I was pregnant. Never had a fill and decided not to since I have blood clots and other things to worry about with my pregnancy. My 2nd official day of maternity leave and one day before going into labor, my company sold and 2 months after returning to work, I was laid off. Losing my medical benefits after already having a hard time finding a surgeon willing to take me on since I was hours from my original surgeon, I haven't been able to get a fill. I'm feel like I have started my…

Wow. So I was 11 months out when I found out. 10 lbs from my goal of 136. Being sleeved and pregnant has been a challenge. My husband wanted another baby but I was skeptical. Since finding out I am pregnant I have fallen in love. I so happy and hope we are having another boy! I am 10 weeks now. Morning sickness has plagued me as always. Hoping to get back to the gym soon.

And I thought I was going to faint. When I looked up at the screen and saw what I thought were two sacs.... Doc got excited and asked his nurse if she saw what he saw and it was!! They saw two sacs and confirmed one heart beat. Doc said it might be because baby A is still too small or that it just will go away and only one grow. But the nurse said she saw something and in two weeks they will for sure be able to see my peanut/peanuts!!! Whatever the outcome is I just hope and pray we all have a healthy pregnancy and I can give these babies all the nutrients they need to grow and be healthy what a day

Hi everyone. I am over 1 year post-op, and I just found out I'm pregnant! I still have not gone to see my gyn or sleeve doc, but I am already having food aversions. How much should I be eating each day? I am currently at ~1200 calories a day and maintaining my weight. I don't want to gain more than 25 lbs during pregnancy. Any advice would be appreciated!

My little man was born April.26th @ 11:11am. 7lbs 9 oz 19.5. Inches. 6 days late! I had a great pregnancy and a wonderful vaginal delivery. Doctors went on and on how I would need a csection and everything went wonderfully all on its own. My band was empty due to an illness a month prior to finding out I was pregnant. The last month I was very thankful it was empty because I was so swollen i started to get a lot of restriction. Other then my port sticking out super far there was nothing band related to complain about! Hope everyone is doing well on thier band journey. I am already down 32 lbs since.delivery hoping to keep on that path …

I was at 257 before vsg surgery then went down to 150. I am six months pregnant and I was super shocked!!! I was about to have my tummy tuck the day before I found out! I don't even look pregnant just fat from my.loose stomach skin. I'm back to 180-184 and really nervous I won't be able to loose after! I'm trying my best to eat low carb with lots of veggies and fruits which was ok'd by my obgyn. Did anyone else not look preggo and has gained about 20-25 lbs??? None of my clothes fit. I totally blame a lot on my loose skin as well.

Is it really my choice or what? I discussed the possibility of pregnancy with the surgeons ans the pa before getting the band and after getting the band. A couple of the PA's have said they would unfill once they found out I was pregnant. So the million dollar question is do I have to have an unfill or can I fight this? Here's my background story to help you decide on the answer. Was banded on Dec 13th and have lost 40.5lbs. I have 6.1ml in my 10ml band and I finally feeling satisfied longer like I'm pretty sure Im close to my green zone with this last fill. I haven't had any stuck episodes or anything like that! I do pretty well with the rules. 2 weeks ago I found o…

I am so freaked out right now...I'm only 7 weeks post op and just found out I'm pregnant. I emailed my dr but haven't heard back. I was not planning this at all and we think I may have gotten preggers just before the surgery. I know my dr had me sign something about waiting 18 months...truth is we were done having kids and I never thought this would happen. I just don't know what to do. Hi guys I found this board through a google search.. and I'm so glad I did. I hope you have some advice to share! I am almost 3 years post op and 26w pregnant. I found in the beginning, I had slight morning sickness, but nothing too difficult to manage. Lately, however, I have found that I can't keep anything down! It's not nausea so much-- it just comes right back up. I'm wondering if anyone else had this happen? I watch what and how much I eat.. very small portions frequently through the day, but lately it doesn't matter. I had an appointment this morning and lost 2 pounds since my last appointment, putting me at only 9 pounds gained in 26 weeks. I got le…

I am roughly 4 mo. 2 weeks Post Op and just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant. This will be our second child. I'm in shock I think. Selfishly I'm wondering will I loose weight during pregnancy (not that I want to), but for restrictive reasons?? Im scared that bc i cant eat much, will that harm the baby? Will I loose weight after the baby? Can I still drink my Protein drinks? Did I ruin my chances of ever getting rid of this weight? I still have 45 more to loose. Help!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

My husband and I were talking about how we wanted another baby but we dont want to wait that much longer. I am about 3 months out and I still have 60ish lbs to go. If for some reason, we did decide to try, would my weight loss pick up where i left off before pregnancy? I know ill have to shed some baby weight, but Im concerned with losing that fast rate of loss the first six months. Just convince me I should wait a year post op. CONVINCE ME PEOPLE!
