I am currently six months post OP and just found out i am pregnant with my second child. I'm scared that i am not getting the amount of nutrition i need to support me and baby. Should i still take my Flintstone vitamin or can i take a prenatal vitamin? My first appt with my ob is a week away. My hubby and i were being careful, but obviously not careful enough.

Has anyone been able to breast feed post surgery? I was sleeved 10 months ago and just found out this morning that I am pregnant. According to my LMP- I am 4 weeks along. I breastfed my other two exclusively and I would love to be able to do the same with this nugget. Has anyone had success post-op?

I'm finally 30 weeks this week. I can't believe it I'm still in shock that I'm going to be a mom. I remember a years ago one of my so called best friends said "well maybe you can't have kids" I felt like crap. My own BFF was telling me that maybe I wasn't meant to have children when she is the worst mom in my eyes. Then I dropped 150 lbs and fell in love with this amazing guy. He stole my heart when his mom passed away in November and he leaned on me for support. I've always said everything happens for a reason and then my dad passed away in February. He was here for me like I was there for him. Now we are going to be parents. Two little girls coming into our lives. O…

I've been with the same company over 8 years. They brought in a new manager which may I add doesn't know anything about the business and only got the job because he has a degree in accounting. I worked my ass off from the lowest position to one of the highest. So a few days ago this man walks in my office and tells me he doesn't see me putting an effort in my job. I'm 7 months pregnant with twins and I take on every problem that is presented to me and I did a fix. This morning he have me a write up on the conversation we had!!! I felt chest pains from the anger I felt and decided to grab some of my stuff and went in his office and told him I was going to the hospital. An…

Well I made it through my second pregnancy and had a baby boy on 7/13... He's just perfect. I've been back to the doc and gotten 2 fills so far. Almost to my sweet spot again. Have about 30 lbs to lose and my goal is by October to have most that gone. Wish me luck...scale hasn't moved in a couple weeks.

I'm upset because my doc is forcing me to take the glucose test which I need to drink a bottle of sugary substance the same amount of a bottle of water within 5 mins. There's no way my stomach can intake that much liquid in that time. So of course I threw it up. Now because of that I need to poke my finger 4 times a day I check my sugar w the blood strip machine and it came out at 64. Does anyone know if after the surgery what's normal for us? Is it the same range? So worried :|

Hi, I am 21 weeks pregnant. I made it through the first trimester with some nausea and only vomited a few times, so I managed to not need an unfill then. However, it seems that in the past few weeks, I am having more trouble eating, and I am starting to have heartburn (almost every evening). Has anyone had to get a partial unfill later in pregnancy because of these or other issues? Not sure if I should stick it out and see if it gets better or go ahead and schedule an appointment with my lap band doctor. Thanks in advance!

I know this is not really a preg question but I thought being a group of wemon it would be good to ask here. I was banded on the 9th of may 2013 and skipped a period that month. I then had my period in June and July and they were normal but have not had one since and it is almost three months. Has anyone else had the same problem. I have lost 56 pounds in just under 4 months. My Surgion and dietian think it is because of the big quick weight loss.

I'm 14 weeks along and I was sleeved last November. Since I have lost almost 65 pounds and got a surprise that I am pregnant. My doctor said not to loose anymore weight and to maintain my current weight. He said that the one concern after vls surgery and getting pregnant is nutrition and neurological development of the baby. He has me going to see a nutritionist to ensure I'm eating right for two. I'm just wondering about other women who have had babies after vls and what their experience was, if they had healthy babies, born on time, or any issues. Please share to help put my mind at ease.

Hi all! I am right at 37 weeks pregnant with my second band baby and I have started having intense left rib pain in the past few weeks, especially after I have eaten. I thought it was the baby kicking by rib, but I heard from a friend it could be my lap band. the only relief I get from the pain is to lay down. Has anybody else had this? Was it because of your lapband? If so, did it damage your band/port and did it cause any other problems? I am very concerned. I have called my Dr. but they said it was probably my uterus pushing on the tubing.

I am 7 months out. I have lost 100 lbs total, 87 since surgery. I am at my goal which is 165, my bigger goal would have been 152, to a healthy BMI.I know we are supposed to wait until 1 year out but I am dying to have a baby. I could care less about being skinny, I just wanted to be healthy and feel good, which I do. I have PCOS so trying to concieve may be difficult. Has anyones dr ever cleared them to start trying sooner? Or was their dr mad that they got pregnant too early? I need something to convince me that its a bad idea if it is?

Just confirmed that I am indeed PREGNANT!!! 5 weeks 2 days! My EDD is 4/13/14. We are so excited about this, I couldn't wait to tell our friends and family, so they all found out yesterday. I am 9 months post-op and down 123 lbs since surgery. I have PCOS and have struggled for the past 20 years with irregular cycles and fertility. We have a healthy 3.5 year old, that was conceived through treatment after 5 years. Since surgery I have had monthly cycles, every 28-30 days. This is amazing!!! I feel like my life is finally mine, and not inhibited by my weight/size. My prayers have been answered. Doing the happy dance!!!! Wooohoooo!!!

Hello all! I was sleeved 12/10/13, down a total of 98lbs including preop. I consider myself a slow loser but I'll take it over the alternative. I recently found out i am pregnant. About 5 weeks. I am so scared that I am going to stop losing. And I am so scared to gain. We were planning on waiting until next year to try figuring I would be at goal then. My dr also says to try to wait 12-18 months postop before. But it happens when it happens. I guess I just want some info from ladies who have been in this boat. How did it go for you? Did you lose while pregnant, did you gain? How much did you lose before being pregnant and how much did you gain? Was there…

I was banded May 2009 and lost over 150 pounds. In sept 2011 I got pregnant and delivered in May 2012. I was 10 pounds away from being back to my goal weight when I noticed I had no restriction. I went to get a fill and for 1 week I felt very slight restriction then all of a sudden it was GONE!! After fluoroscopy we discovered my port was leaking. I had surgery yesterday to replace it but the doc actually found that the tubing had coiled up on top of the port and every time it was accessed my tubing was being poked. It was a complication due from being pregnant, stretched out belly and tubing then losing the weight again. Please be aware of this possibility and watch yo…

Hey guys, first off, I wanna thank everyone on this whole site for being so supportive and friendly. I joined "The Bump" when I found out we were pg, for something different, and damn!! Some of those women on there are freakin mean! I've seen some jump down one poor girl's throat for posting a topic sayin basically everyone should be nice to each other and stop judging, geez, they were all over her saying she was ridiculous and things aren't gonna change, and that wasn't the last one, and all this was in the span 2 weeks! Not that I'm some kind of freak about being nice but damn!! So anyway, screw that site, I love everyone here for the almost 2 yrs after my surgery, so …

WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!!!! I AM HAPPY, SCARED, NERVOUS, EXCITED.......HAPPY, JOYFUL, HAPPY!!!!! First OB/GYN appointment is this Friday. I have tried for so long, I just can not believe( scared to believe) it's true!! My husband and daughter are walking around with big smiles on their faces lol!!! I am happy as well, but have this little fear in my heart that just wont die down yet. S.N someone told me yesterday that I was no longer pretty. She felt I was prettier heavy, and now I look sick, and ordinary. Crazy thing is, she was not being mean or vicious. Her comments felt sincere. For that reason, what she said affected me. I keep replaying in my head what she s…

Hi all, I'm newly pregnant (about 4 weeks) and since I found out I haven't been able to get anything down in the morning, even water. I usually have trouble in the morning with my band and can usually only have liquids for breakfast, but now I'm worried that I can't even get water to go down. By around 1pm I'm usually okay and able to finally eat, but has anyone else had this problem in the morning?? I'm not sure why a baby that's the size of a sesame seed would cause such drastic changes in my band already. But I've started having mild morning sickness already and I just feel like I'm going to end up getting dehydrated. Yet if I get an unfill I'm worried that I'll gain t…

I'm waiting on some labs but wanted to ask about the post baby shedding we experience. Moms that have delivered babies post sleeve: Did you notice more shedding, along the lines of the month 3-4 post op hair loss, after your baby? I've been losing quite a bit and while I'm not frantic I'm certainly not pleased. My doc ran a panel and is also concerned about my thyroid but in the meantime I'm just curious if anyone else encountered this after having a baby, too. This was my third pregnancy and both previous pregnancies I had increased shedding after delivery. While it was noticeable, it wasn't a huge amount of hair. I'm currently experiencing loss similar to what …

SO...I am a little over 18 months post-op and now ttc. I think that I might be..you know..pregnant...BUT my symptoms are kind of wacky and confused. Ever since surgery and losing the weight my PMS has been a little out of control. I kind of get pregnancy symptoms every month now with my time of the month..and it sucks because it really fakes you out sometimes. Lately though, I have felt 'kind of' nauseous, and I say 'kind of' just because with my new tummy I don't feel nausea like I used to. When I do feel it its kind of a back of my mind type of feeling..like a ghost of what it used to be. I honestly don't even feel like it is even possible for me to throw up anymore. Us…

Hi All, I've completed all my pre-op testing and will be getting a call this coming week for the surgery date. Problem is I might be pregnant and it's too soon to test. I don't want to go through all this just to have it canceled, I also don't want to have severe complications because my weight. I know nothing is certain yet, but I just want to make sure I have all the information I need time make an informed decision if I am preggers. Crazy as it sounds, can I still have surgery if I'm still very early on? Is there a medical weightloss program for pregnant women? Please feel free to ask me any questions if you need to.

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and am continuing to lose weight. At seven weeks I thought I was having a miscarriage, I passed the sac with the "stem " attached. Unfortunately, I have seen many miscarriages in patients I've transported. I went to dr to make sure the miscarriage was complete and I was surprised to find that I still had a healthy fetus and I had lost a twin (no idea I was having twins. My dr doesn't seem to be concerned about my weight loss which is about ten pounds in four weeks. I can help thinking that may have something to do with losing my baby. I know a fetus is a parasite and will take what it needs, but maybe two was too many?

I am 22 weeks and my ob has been concerned with that I had lost 10 pounds. I had seen my surgeon last week and had 1cc taken out of my band. My concern now is that I had gained back all 10 pounds in 1 week. What experiences have you had with weight gain and taking fluid out? I do not feel as if I eat enough to gain 10 pounds in a week.
