I will be 24 weeks this friday and I've gone from 283 to 268 since I've been pregnant. I got all of my fluid taken out at 16 weeks because of being too tight and also was having trouble with my gallbladder (which I had to have out at 18 weeks). Needless to say I've had a hard first pregnancy. My question is, is there anyone else that really hasn't gained any weight yet and are close to their third trimester? If you are in the same situation then are you worried? I haven't got in trouble with the doctor because they say ill gain it in my third and I hope they are right.

My name is Diana and I had the bariatric surgery about 4 years ago. I just had a baby 2 months ago and I'm wondering if someone can share their weight loss story after pregnancy! I gained 40 pounds while pregnant and I am just disgusted by the way I look. I lost 180 within a year after surgery. My hips really spread after pregnancy so I'm not happy at all! I don't have any clothes that fit me because I was thinner prior to pregnancy. Is anyone currently in the same boat.

Hi all. I am 14 months post op and my husband and I are going to start TTC this summer when I am 18 months post op, but I am worried about having to have another c-section. I had an emergency c-section with my son, who is now 2. Have any of you been able to successfully have a vaginal birth after cesarean after having WLS? Any advice and answers are welcome! Thanks!

My question is I am worried I maybe pregnant and with me still healing could it make me have a miscarriage, due to not getting all the nutrition I need. My stupidity for not being more careful since I am still healing. I haven't talked to my Dr yet just waiting a little longer to be for sure. Starting weight 297, Current 199

My somewhat normalized period (only in the last 6 months) was a little late, so I took a HPT, and holy crap, it was blaringly positive!!!!!!!!!! I've suffered from secondary infertility (13 medically assisted procedures-IUI and IVF, none successful) for the last 8 years and so I never thought this would happen. I've got a lot against me: I'm 40 and I've had six previous losses, so I'm keeping my head on straight and my heart guarded. I am not certain about how far along we are, maybe 6+ weeks? Went to the RE and they did a scan. Shows a baby and a yolk sac. Next week I go back to look for heartbeat and dating. Wish us luck. I'm terrified. I'm not going to chang…

I was just wondering if you guys modified your daily diets at all or just stuck to the usual high protein, low carb? My goal is not to gain a lot of weight. Im still feeling awesome and very happy I'm just not in the mood to eat eggs or meat anymore. Thoughts? Let me know what you guys are doing!

  10. Does anyone have any good advice for how to navigate this? Proper nutrition? Is it okay if I lose weight as long as I am taking Vitamins and monitoring baby growth? I know my surgeon will probably be unhappy- and I dread telling my parents who might think I "wasted" my surgery. It still doesn't feel real- this would be our second baby. Any advice?

I then read they have huge false positive and evap results. I'm hoping in my case this is in fact a positive test result! Guess I'll know for sure in a few days. Fingers crossed ladies...I'm down 106lbs!!!!

This is going to be kind of long, but I want to air out everything because any time I've read anything from you guys it's been awesome advice, and I know that most of this is my fault (sort of). I had my surgery 12/21/2012. I was 289 Starting, I had lost a little over 100 lbs. Then I had put on 10 lbs, and I was like wth... My eating/exercise/daily life patterns had not changed. Everlything was exactly the same. This was 16 months later so April 2014. At first I didn't think anything of it, just figured I had been eating more sweets than normal because it was around Easter, and I visited home for my sister's wedding. Those 10 lbs just stuck there no change (197). …

Is anyone actively trying to conceive now? I had surgery in February 2013, suffered some serious complications, but recovered well and now my husband and I are actively trying to conceive baby #2. I was 255lbs when I got pregnant with baby #1 and 325 when he was born. I am now 173. I never thought I would be so excited to be pregnant again - but I am so dedicated to having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Yeah that's me I'm 35. I'm 5 weeks pregnant today.. I hadn't really realized that I'd be put in that category but atlas I am. I'm what they refer to as Advanced Maternal Age Boo almost saddens me to say it. I am 100 lbs healthier that I was when I had my older children but my eggs unfortunately are 35 years old just like me which makes me high risk coupled with me being a bariatric patient it puts me at a higher risk for all sorts of complications. Anybody else on the same boat as me I need a buddy right about now.

I recently found out that I am about 7 weeks pregnant and was curious how others pregnancies went. I have my first appt coming up so I am very anxious for that. This was very unexpected. After being with someone for over 7 years and nothing ever happend this was the last thing I seen coming.

One of my biggest reasons for getting vsg in Oct 2014 was to be able to conceive. Hubby and I have been trying for almost 6 years. Never been pregnant before. We did go to a fertility doctor and did a few rounds of injections with clomid and IUI but still nothing. He did mention I possibly had PCOS. And he never mentioned my weight! But after those failed and us trying on our own, it was mentioned by other professionals that it possibly could be weight related. I will do anything to get pregnant so I decided to start my journey to get healthier. Starting weight was 388 and I am down 82 pounds at a little over 4 months out. Hello all, I was banded in 2010 and really want to start trying in about 1 1/2 to 2 years. There's no way we can accidently get pregnant or "just let it happen". Ours will have to be medically involved. Because of that, we can plan it out exactly and, in turn, think about all the angles before we start. What considerations should I take when trying to get pregnant? Do I have to get my band unfilled? Did you have any complications? What do you wish someone had told you? Did the Lapband become an issue during delivery? I want to hear it all, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks in advance!

Hi, after being banded for almost 4 years I am ready to try to get pregnant. I just have so many questions about doing so while being banded. My main concern is about having issues with my port. Sometimes it is sensitive and painful. Frequently it flips as well which causes discomfort when my surgeon pokes around to do an adjustment. I'm Worried that as my belly gets bigger I will experience some issues with this. I have read that some people do experience this during pregnancy. I also read that some people have issues with eating. What happens if I have really bad morning sickness and this causes band slippage or other issues? Can anyone shed some light on this topic for…

I am a couple of weeks late for my period, but wasn't too concerned because I just figured that with the weight loss and the IUD my period was out of wack. Well I just took 2 pregnancy tests and they are positive. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, but wanted to see if anyone else has been through this? This is not what I was expecting or planning.....

I had back to back consults with my RE and then the bariatric surgeon the next day. I had my mind made up that I wanted gastric sleeve and my RE thought it was a great idea. When I met with the surgeon, he said I could have whichever one I wanted but he would recommend the RNY due to faster weight loss and more long term studies. Now I'm more confused than ever! I'm having this surgery to get healthy and attempt to have a baby. Been married 10 years with one ectopic 3 years ago- No pregnancies or babies since. Advice? Why did you decide sleeve over RNY? Did your dr prefer one over the other for fertility?

  29. I had one child in '98 about a year off the Depo shot. Since then I've had hormone issues and what seems to be a never ending period that can last anywhere from 3 days up to 8 months at one time. It's the worst because my husband and I always wanted another after our first. Some say they got pregnant surprisingly, unexpectedly and immediately after surgery...any good stories to share?? I'd like some glimmer of hope... Thanks in advance!!

I am not even three months out and my baby fever is off the charts! I think technically you're "supposed" to wait a year but my physician and I didn't really discuss that at the time because I had no real interest. I will however ask her about it next month because I'd like to know when I can make this happen. Did any of you have babies earlier than you were supposed to? How long did your doctor recommend waiting?

I'm freaking out a little bit here. I'm superstitious so I don't want to tell anyone, because I don't want any congratulations yet. Do I look for a walk in clinic that can do pregnancy tests? I don't want to wait until Monday if I don't have to. Again, freaking out a little. Thanks for your advice!

Hi, So I am getting married in April and wanted to start trying to get pregnant around October/November. I am 8 years post surgery and down 130lbs. I have not had a fill in the past three years as well. I wanted to know what steps I should take. I have heard by some people that you need to infill your band before starting to try or to keep everything in. Also, does your port pop out when your belly starts to get big. I am terrified that they will make me take everything out because I know how fast the weight can come back. I also have an appointment next week with a high risk ob who has worked with many patients who have a band. Thanks!

My blood pressure has gotten pretty high as well, so I'm now on strict bedrest with weekly Dr visits, non-stress tests and Biophysical Profile tests. We are praying to make it another 6 1/2 weeks to hit the 37 week goal for induction. But if the blood flow or her growth slows even more, she may be better in the NICU then inside me. This came as a shock to us and has been difficult to adjust to. I've increased my Protein, healthy fats and calories. It's the only thing I know that may help. Has anyone else been through this? I’m at 176 now and am super focused. I’d like to get back to 150 before trying to conceive. I’m looking for those who’ve had a lap band pregnancy. I’d like to know your experience in general and how much weight you put on during your pregnancy. Also, how was it trying to get it off after giving birth? Thanks!

In the beginning of my pregnancy, I felt the restriction prior to getting pregnant, but I noticed I was getting hungry a lot quicker. I don't know if its my body making sure I am getting the proper calories I need for the baby at this time or if I should contact my surgeon about an issue with my surgery. I think I read previously that people have had less restriction while pregnant, and once the pregnancy it goes back to how it was. Help.. kinda freaking out... My husband and I went through several rounds of IVF (due to an issue he has, nothing to do with the lap band) and I am finally 6 weeks pregnant... with twins. Before I was pregnant, my band always felt looser right before my period and tighter the last few days/after. For the past few weeks it has felt tighter like it normally does towards the end of my cycle. I shared this with my fertility doctor during my last visit as I have been experiencing some vomiting and it feels more like the band is tight vs. pregnancy symptoms. 47. So where does a plus size woman get maternity clothes? I really don't have a budget... I'm still overweight, so maybe I won't show much? All my friends that I've witnessed be pregnant were normal weight woman, so they were showing within a few months of learning they were pregnant. I've still got excess weight and loose skin too, so I'm thinking I can shop just plain old bigger plus sizes and not need maternity? What do big ladies wear when they are pregnant? Any post op's that didn't make it to goal weight before getting pregnant have any suggestions on what to expect with my body?

  48. I had my surgery 16 months ago, laparoscopic surgery - no complications. I also had a prior laparoscopic surgery to remove my gall bladder back in 2006. Does having prior laparoscopic abdominal surgery mean you HAVE to have a C-section? I'd love some feedback from any ladies who became mothers after their sleeves - did you have natural childbirth? If not, was the prior sleeve surgery the reason you couldn't give birth naturally? I really want vaginal delivery! Thanks for the feedback!

Hey ladies! I met with my surgeon yesterday...plan is to get sleeved April 2015. So much went on yesterday that I forgot to ask a few questions. One of them being allowed methods of contraception. I saw in the pamphlet that it said to stop taking oral contraception a few days before surgery and choose a barrier method but I assume that's because they want your bowels empty...not cuz of the hormones? Anyways....I have an appointment with my midwife Oct 20th for my IUD...the IUD is good for 3 years and I don't wanna get this put in to find out I can't use it cuz it's hormonal and could cause blood clots and post-op complications. Thanks for your insight!
