Hello all, I haven't logged onto here in about 2years. Since my WLS, I lost close to 100lbs, I felt beautiful and healthy. One goal was to get pregnant, and I did. I did not gain 1lb with my pregnancy, After I had my baby, I fit into my clothes with ease. Then post partum depression hit me..... I was put on meds and I have gained 40lbs, I don't know what to do.. I self weened from the meds because even my maternity clothes fit me tight!!!! Nothing fits me and on to a size 16-18. I am not hungry all the time like I did with them, but was wondering, the pouch test thing, would that help me get my tummy back to the size, I am so confused, I feel like I did the WLS and…

I will be having surgery in March or April. I am 33, and will have to do IVF to have children. I hate to wait the 2 years that I am seeing recommended online. Has anyone had to do IVF after you had the sleeve, and if so, how long did you wait, or have to wait? Thanks!!

Hey everyone! I just had twin boys in July 2015 and I've been thinking about getting the gastric sleeve done. Has anyone gotten it done after having kids? What are your experiences? How long were you down after having surgery and how long before you could pick your kids up?

So heres my question Ive been on depo for 6 months now and my weightloss hasnt been as fast as everyone else's has been. I know i shouldnt compare but its hard. Im about to be 7 months post op and have only lost 63lbs i know it is a lot and im weighing in at 196lbs and my goal is 160lbs but for some reason I thought id be a whole lot closer to goal. I cant help to think maybe it is cause of the birth control. I am always hungry and even when im full i crave to munch on something…

I'm 7 months out and have lost 122 pounds so far and my birth control has failed me ???? I just found out this past weekend that I'm pregnant, estimating to be probably 5 weeks now. I've worked so hard to lose this weight and I'm still 60-70 pounds from where i want to be. Is it unrealistic of me to say that I dont want to gain any weight while pregnant? Ideally I want to continue to lose while I'm pregnant. My stomach is still big enough to hold a baby without me looking pregnant. If I stay on track and focus on my goal is there hope for me?

Just wanted to say it's nice to read all of the stories of women getting pregnant later in life. I am 36 years old now 37 this month and I'm having the sleeve hopefully in December. I would like to get pregnant but I was nervous based on my age and getting pregnant after surgery. I was scared that the sleeve would stop working but I just started reading some of these posts and it's making me feel alot better. I too have friends saying why have surgery now and waste it if you get pregnant. I don't know alot about that so I'm going to read these boards. I know the recommendation is 1 - 2 years post op. Thanks for this forum.

I was officially a year out from VSG when I found out I was 4 weeks pregnant with my third back in September and 100lbs down. My pregnancy starting weight was 155 and I'm now standing at 165 and 22 weeks pregnant. With my first pregnancy (Pre-vsg) I was around 190 and ballooned up to 235 by the end when she was born at 35 weeks due to high blood pressure and preeclampsia, I dealt with those issues throughout the whole pregnancy. With the second I was 250lbs, High blood pressure and lost the baby at 12 weeks. Going into this one being the lowest weight I've ever been and feeling great I just automatically assumed this would be a breeze and pregnancy would be fun this tim…

Hello ladies, I have no business here but just need to ask a question. My girlfriend and I have been trying to conceive for some time now. Her weight is no help but the main problem is P.C.O.S. (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome). I assume most of you know what it is (given your are all females), if not here is a link explaining what the syndrome is. ( http://womenshealth.gov/publications/our-publications/fact-sheet/polycystic-ovary-syndrome.cfm ) She's leaning towards the RNY to help her weight but recent researching discoveries indicate women getting pregnant after WLS and P.C.O.S not being a factor anymore. Any of you ladies have any i…

Ok... So I had a Paragard IUD in October. I found out yesterday that I am 6 weeks pregnant. They did an ultrasound and apparently the Paragard fell out because it is no longer in and only God knows where it's at. While this is a BIG SURPRISE (We were not planning on anymore children) I need to hear from others that have had or are having babies in a similar instance. What are some struggles you have had? Are you still losing? Gaining? At this point my focus is keeping the baby and myself healthy. Thanks

Just to say upfront: We DO NOT have any intention on trying until I am at least 1 year post op... I've struggled with PCOS ever since I was 12, so I worry that I'll be the ONE woman who will still be infertile post op...

Hello everyone, I had my gastric bypass surgery in March and I just found out I'm pregnant last week. This is my first pregnancy so I am extremely nervous, excited and happy. My first question is about prenatal Vitamins. My ob/gyn prescribed prenatals for me, but I'm I supposed to take them in addition to my bariatric vitamins? I'm concerned especially with the Iron, since too much iron can be harmful to the fetus. I haven't had a Protein shake in month, because I can eat meat with no problems now. Should I start drinking them again, since the whole eating for two thing is impossible for me? Is there anything else that I should be doing as a post-bypass patient that is di…

Wondering what changes you made to the "diet" foods we are supposed to eat as WLS patients now that you are pregnant. Do you still use artificial sweeteners like Splenda? Do you still use the same protein supplements? Any guidance is appreciated, NUT is booked out. Won't see her for 5 more weeks.

I got pregnant 3 months after revision from band to sleeve....we had been trying for several years and my doctor told me that I probably wouldn't be able to get pregnant until I lost about 100lbs. We had stopped trying I was focusing on weight loss......Anyway long story short I am having issues with low blood sugar. I have a few questions and concerns. 1. What have you all done to prevent this? I am eating about every 3 hours. Maybe I need to go to every 2? 2. I am supposed to do that sugar test next week but I honestly don't think I can go from midnight until 8am with nothing to eat....... 3. What about during labor....do they give you fluids with sugar in it? UGH s…

Hi all! I'm about 6 weeks pregnant. I'm a little over a year out from VSG surgery and lost all but 5 pounds of my excess weight!!! Before finding out I was pregnant, I was eating an average of 800 calories a day. Now, I'm STARVED. I had not been hungry once since my surgery until about a week before I found out I was pregnant (should have been my first clue!). I'm eating about 1500-1600 calories a day now (which is a struggle) per my dietician. This still doesn't seem to be curbing my appetite however. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks!

Hello! I had my gastric sleeve done on July 15 of this year and I AM NOT planning on waiting the 1-2 years to start trying again. We require fertility intervention to get pregnant (hoping not as much since I've lost 65lbs so far) but we've already started trying. My fertility doctor is one of the best in his field and has cleared me to move forward. I have one son luckily who took a year to conceive but I want more. Are there any newly thinner mommies that are moving forward with TTC dreams? Any luck so far, experiences, things that have helped?? I would love to create some connections here to support my weight loss and baby creation journeys.

I am almost a year out from my RNY bypass and I have done very well and have not had any complications. My husband and I have been talking about maybe trying to get pregnant in a couple of months. I go see my obgyn next month and I don't know what questions to ask. Does anyone have any advise/insight that has gotten pregnant after WLS?

My spouse is age 36 and at 6ft and 25st (BMI 47.5; EBW = 49pct of current weight, making her nearly 98pct over ideal) has decided that she wants gastric banding (she's not interested in more invasive and irreversible procedures such as VSG and any sort of bypass or switch). We're currently trying to conceive our first child (we're very late in starting, we know) but have had to live separately for work reasons until recently and so have only recently had the opportunity for a consistent effort. For what it's worth (and with apologies for any oversharing), she has regular menses and shows none of the usual signs of PCOS. Our overall question, on which we'd be especiall…

I have been researching to see if anyone else has had these problems?? Started out around 7 months pregnant.. I could cramp up and would get so bad to where I could not walk! As time has passed and I am now 34 weeks things have just got worst, it feels like my port is just so sore! It is mal placed, I was in the process to have removed and 2 weeks later I found out at that time that I was pregnant! By far this is the worst pain I have ever been in, it's literally almost just as bad as when I have my lap and surgery! I am just praying I can tolerate this tight feeling a few more weeks and that my baby is healthy with no problems from this! I can not wait to just have my…

So the main reason for me having the sleeve was to eventually get pregnant. We just didnt expect it so soon after the surgery. We have been trying for over 2 years and had not changed anything other than me losing weight of course. Im sure my surgeon wont be happy I go see him Friday as he told me to wait at least a year. BUT so far everything is going fine except I feel tired after I eat ANYTHING just checking to see how everyone else manages post sleeve with pregnancy. Thankfully no morning sickness!!! And I am 2 months preggo and now officially 6 months post op.

Hey ladies! I've been trying to find as much info as possible on this. I have NOT had the surgery yet, but in the process of getting the money together to have it done I am 23 years old, I am married and have been with my partner for 5 years, we have been TTC for over 3 years with no luck and 1 known miscarriage I have PCOS, an under active thyroid function and I am over weight. I am praying that after this surgery my problems will be fixed and I'll again be happy with myself, however I have a few questions and would love to hear everyone's story! I have read millions of different things but here's my main question, I would like to try for a baby after hopef…

I think everyone should know different situations that could occur and since i couldnt find much on pregnancy and lapband complications i figured my story needed to be out here for others to see . I got pregnant in December 2014 and didn't find out until January 2015. We were the happiest anyone could be because I had my lapband for 2 years and was close to my goal weight. At 16 weeks I had trouble keeping anything down and there started my journey. My fluid was completely taken out and from 16 weeks to time of birth I didn't have fluid. Week 18 I had gallbladder surgery. After surgery I started having kidney stones one right after the other. I was in the hospital more th…

I have PCOS and need to lose about 130 pounds to be at an ideal healthy weight. Can anyone share their story about their own PCOS journey to pregnancy after the Sleeve? The longest I went without menstrairing was a full year and only started because my doctor put me on birth control. But I stopped because I didn't want to put a band aid on my pcos issue. I wanted to know that through diet and exercise I could beat the pcos and ovulate on my own! But sadly I just can't. So now, to save my health and the posibility of children, I am going through the motions to get sleeved. Can anyone tell me if they had success after being in a similar situation? How did your sleeve and we…

Hello. I am 16 months post-op and 9 weeks pregnant. I refused to take the sugar drink that the doctors usually test you for gestational diabetes (GD) as was instructed by my surgeon. Now the doctors are having me take my blood twice a day for a week now, a week at 24 weeks and a week at 30 weeks. I have to take my blood when I am fasting for 8-10 hours and then again 2 hours after my biggest meal. I am having a problem with my sugar levels when I take my blood during the fasting part. The doc wants my sugar levels to be under 95 and so far I have tested over 95 everyday with the exception of one day where it was 88. When I test myself 2 hours after my biggest meal I al…

Hey Ladies! I posted a few months ago about infertility and wanting some hope about TTC further out after surgery. Well we are going to start trying in August and I am terrified! Let me run down our history real quick. I'm 30 and my hubby is 35. He has 2 teen daughters and we have been trying for a baby for almost 6 years now. Last summer we did some fertility treatments with an amazing RE who was confident that we could conceive because all of our tests came out perfect. Infertility was unexplained. There was speculation that I have PCOS. After 3 failed cycles with only 1 of them producing any eggs, I got discouraged. All the hormones, injections and appointments beca…

Hello All, I'm new to the board so as a quick introduction I've been ttc with my husband for two years on our own before we did our first IUI in March 2015. It was unsuccessful, so we did a second IUI on July 23. Yesterday, my blood work confirmed that I have a "cautious positive". My nurse explained a "cautious positive" as meaning that my HCG level is raised, and that I need to come in on Monday. If the number has increased, then I need to come in again on Wednesday. If my numbers keep increasing, then it means that I have likely conceived. If the numbers start to drop, then I haven't conceived. She said it can go either way. Here is what is confusing me: When…

Hi, I had my sleeve done Jan 30, 2014 and now I am pregnant. I was 20 pounds away from my goal weight before I found out I was pregnant . I was gaining weight at first but now I have been losing weight. It wasn't planned but I am very excited. I wish I could say everything is going ok but I can't. I am 3 months pregnant. At the very beginning I had severe nausea and when I eat I just feel disgusted. I have been very bloated with no energy at all. Hey ladies! My husband and I are 1 in 8 couples struggling with infertility. This week is National Infertility Awareness week and thought that I would make a post for a place for women to share their stories. So please feel free to share you struggles, successes or questions here. I would love to read them! My story... well my hubby and I have been together since 2003. We were married in 2009 and never used any protection after we got married. We just figured we would leave it in God's hands. We started really cr…

I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place but here it goes. My baby is almost a year and I plan to continue to nurse her until she self weans. I'm about 3 years post op and had a complete unfill when I found out I was pregnant. I haven't been back for a fill because breastfeeding was my priority. Now that she is going to be a year and eating more solids and drink cows milk, my question is if I get a fill now will it affect me breastfeeding or should I wait until I'm done nursing to get a fill. Thanks in advance.
