Pregnancy layer in life

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say it's nice to read all of the stories of women getting pregnant later in life. I am 36 years old now 37 this month and I'm having the sleeve hopefully in December.

I would like to get pregnant but I was nervous based on my age and getting pregnant after surgery. I was scared that the sleeve would stop working but I just started reading some of these posts and it's making me feel alot better.

I too have friends saying why have surgery now and waste it if you get pregnant. I don't know alot about that so I'm going to read these boards.

I know the recommendation is 1 - 2 years post op.

Thanks for this forum.

You'll get pregnant a lot easier after losing weight. And if u have to use fertility treatment down the road so be it. You really aren't that old though. Have u been pregnant before?

I got pregnant post sleeve at 38. I had my sleeve when i was 37. I got pregnant 1 year post op. My gyn thought it would take longer. It didn't. I would not recommend it unless you are close or at goal. I have had so many issues post pregnancy and I am going in for revision. Be sure to try to wait the recommended time.

No this would be my first... I would want to wait and notice many of my friends having babies much later in life so we shall see!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
