I found BariatricPal online while doing research on the VSG. I have been researching weight loss surgery for a few weeks now and this week took the first step towards having this done by signing up for a WLS seminar at a local bariatric clinic.
This is something that I know I want done, but I also want to be as educated about the process as I can before I move forward with my decision. I hope to make friends here who can support me as I begin this life changing journey.
I am a mom to an amazing 5 year old son. I have been married for almost 14 years now. I have stood by my dad and best friends's side as they both had the lap band procedure done several years ago. I have been overweight my entire life. I have never been fully accepting of myself and I am at the point in life where I hate going to t-ball and soccer, games, going to the school, etc. because I am embarassed about my weight and appearance. The emotional pain is something that I hide inside.
I have decided that I want to take control of my life. I always put everyone else's needs and wants before my own and now is the time to TAKE CARE OF ME. That's exactly what I intend to do. I want to be the best version of me that I can be. I want to be the mom that my son can be proud of and I want to set a better example for him with healthy eating styles and exercise being apart of his normal routine. I am sure there is a long road ahead.. but I know I won't be walking it alone!
