This June, I will be sleeved for two years! On my 1 year anniversary of being sleeved, I got pregnant! Isn't that something? It was quite a shock, and something that I didn't plan, but a blessing nonetheless. I've been meaning to write on here about thins for a while but have been so busy. I used to be 170 and wanted to reach a goal of 140. Well, I dreadfully checked the scale and am now a whopping 185. I've gained 15 pounds from being pregnant. I won't lie, I am depressed because of this. Do any of you sleevers or people who have gotten a bariatric surgery in general have any advice to a pregnant sleever like me? I am also worried about the delivery and if me an…

Hello all, I haven't logged onto here in about 2years. Since my WLS, I lost close to 100lbs, I felt beautiful and healthy. One goal was to get pregnant, and I did. I did not gain 1lb with my pregnancy, After I had my baby, I fit into my clothes with ease. Then post partum depression hit me..... I was put on meds and I have gained 40lbs, I don't know what to do.. I self weened from the meds because even my maternity clothes fit me tight!!!! Nothing fits me and on to a size 16-18. I am not hungry all the time like I did with them, but was wondering, the pouch test thing, would that help me get my tummy back to the size, I am so confused, I feel like I did the WLS and…

Just under two weeks ago I went into early labor. My baby was alive for a few minutes, but he wasn't far enough along or developed to save. I was only a few days shy of being 21 weeks with my first baby. To preface this, I had the gastric sleeve surgery so I would be able to get pregnant. So when we found out I was expecting, my husband, me and my family were ecstatic. We were so excited. My pregnancy was completely normal. I was eating healthy, taking my Vitamins, going to my appointments.... even the doctor didn't see this coming. I never would have thought I would become one of those women. Then, we went through this tragedy. My husband and family are doing amazi…

2 weeks ago I thought I had appendicitis so I went to the ER. After they did a CT scan they said that my tube had come detached from the port and was flapping around inside me and I needed to contact my bariatric surgeon. I went to see him and showed him my scans last week and he said he thinks the band has also slipped and possibly eroded but he can't know without an endoscopy. So he scheduled one for next week. However, today I realized my period was late and I just found out I'm pregnant I'm in shock and too scared and nervous to be happy. NOW WHAT?? I have to wait to tomorrow to call my ob and my bariatric doctor... But I'm so nervous! WHat happens now???

Hello everyone! So, I had my GVS surgery back in January 2015 and have lost a total of 100 pounds (Woot!). I feel amazing and great and things seem to be going good with my body! (I did have to have my gallbladder removed this past October but after that, smooth sailing!). This is a question for those ladies who had PCOS before surgery. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 21 and it is one of the main reasons I decided to have surgery because I was close to having type 2 diabetes as well as the issues of PCOS (infertility). Now that I've lost all this weight, my surgeon said I'm cleared to try and get pregnant. So, my husband and I have started the process with…

I am seriously freaking out about this. I am worried to death that I won't have a healthy baby because I barely eat as it is. My cycles have always been regular so but this time I couldn't tell when I was ovulating. Before I used to get really crampy during ovulation. I am down 65 # and have so much more to lose. I take all my daily Vitamins but I am still concerned and fretting that I will not be able to lose the rest of my weight. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using the BariatricPal App

So after constant nausea, pure exhaustion again, and smelling this awful smell in my house that noone else can smell I decided to take a test to be safe... I never, ever, in a million years expected a positive test. We've used protection and I had a doctor's appointment on Monday to get on the pill or have an IUD placed again. Tomorrow is our 9th wedding anniversary so I will be finding a way to break the news to hubby then... but I don't want him telling a lot of people because I'm scared. I'm terrified of what my surgeon will say... terrified of what our families will think.. and terrified at ending up with a loss. I figure I am about 6.5 weeks pregnant at the time. …

I had gastric bypass July 27th and just found out I'm about 6 weeks pregnant. I'm pretty nervous because I've been struggling to eat enough to keep me healthy nevermind sustaining a healthy pregnancy. Anyone else have any experience with a pregnancy shortly after WLS? Also I'm scared my weight loss will stop and not start up again. Idk there are so many things freaking me out. I just (like JUST) found out that I am pregnant! I have not told anyone but my husband so far. I won't tell family until the end of the 1st trimester. It's my first pregnancy and I am terrified that something will go wrong. One thing I've been reading is that there is an increased chance of having to have a C-section if you've had WLS. Can anyone tell me if that was their experience? Anything else I should know? I am six years out since the surgery so I am pretty comfortable with getting enough to eat. I am just trying to make really good decisions as far as WHAT to eat. I haven't had morning sickness *yet* not sure how bad that will be... Anyone who could share their pre…

I was on vacation in Hawaii.. mid-trip felt a bit weird and took a test. Definitely put a spin on the rest of my trip! lol I have/had pseudotumor cerebri with papilledema, which is why I had RNY surgery in the first place. I was down a total of 120 pounds (with 30 more to go) when I got the big news that I didn't anticipate. So I immediately contacted and OBGYN and began figuring out what I needed to do for myself to make sure this would be a healthy pregnancy. I was glad to learn that many of the vitamins I was already taking post-op sort of mimic pre-natals, but I found a great liquid pre-natal and changed my vitamins around a bit. Went back to my nutritionist …

Hi Everyone, I used to frequent the post-op sleeve forums daily but have gotten out of the habit. I'm now pregnant and over a year post op so I'd like to touch base with others going thru the same. A little about myself: Surgery Date: 11/14/2014 Current age: 31 Height: 5'6" HW: 310 LW: 193 CW: 214 I am 17.5 weeks pregnant with my first child. I actually got pregnant about two weeks after my 1 year surgery anniversary. I had been on a great track for losing weight, but in august of 2015 we found out my gallbladder was full of stones and sludge. I had it removed on 8/31/2015. I had asked my bariatric surgeon (different than my gallbladder surgeon) if he wo…

So excited! Today I just got my Mirena birth control removed after having 2 (both in for the full 5 years). We are finally ready to try and have a baby! RNY 12/8/14.. Just curious as to if anyone else has had the RNY with the Mirena and how soon after removal did you get pregnant? My doctor told me today as little as a week and especially after gastric bypass you tend to be more fertile.. Also, I had someone else tell me that because of the Mirena it thins out your uterus lining, and that it may lead to complications and/or a miscarriage. And I'm just wondering about others stories and if that's true? SCARY!! Thanks in advance!

I'm about 6 weeks pregnant, and almost 2 years post-op. I know this is supposed to be a joyful time and weight gain is natural, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around it. I'm worried and feeling extremely down about ending up where I once started, and that was a dark place! I don't even know how many calories to consume right now (I read only 50 extra calories during 1st trimester?). I am just focusing on eating healthy things and logging my food, but I'm too tired to exercise. For the past 8 or 9 months, prior to pregnancy, I fell off the "good habits" wagon. Here are my questions: If you're pregnant, what are your main bariatric healthy staple foods? How…

I'm 10 weeks post op and have pregnancy on my mind 24/7. I want to get pregnant so bad. I went back on the pill after surgery (haven't had a period in a year and a half) and I had it once for 4 days since I started the pill again. I'm worried that I'm not ovulating and never will. I have PCOS - no cysts, but the hair, no periods and the weight. I'm down 43 pounds.

Hi everyone! My husband and I are seriously thinking about trying for our first baby in Spring 2017. Just curious about a few things: 1. Were any of you considered high risk pregnancy because of the VSG? I will be 39 next February so I know that will make me high risk regardless. 2. Did anyone have to go on disability due to complications, prior to delivery? I've read where some women have terrible morning sickness and can't keep anything down. 3. Just curious how any of you have been able to balance nutrition and getting fluids in? And lastly..... 4. Did anyone have a micro preemie? New Mom and gaining weight Hi all! So I've had my lab band since 6/2012. I've had great success with it by losing and maintaining an 80lb loss until I got pregnant and had a severe cardiac issue. My son, now 2 1/2 months is a very healthy baby but I just can't get back on track. My cardiac issue resolved after I gave birth thank god. My band has about 1cc in it and even the smallest amount of stress makes my band so tight that even the easiest of foods get stuck. Im at a loss on what to do. I'm afraid that if I get an adjustment and I get stressed I wouldn't even be able to keep fluids down. All I do know is, is that I'm 40lbs heavier from my lowest and it's making me…

I've been so hungry during this pregnancy. I'm 2.5 yrs post op gastric sleeve, lost 135 lbs, only 20lbs from goal when I got pregnant. I've only gained 12 lbs and I'm 7 months along. I eat really really healthy, but I stopped measuring portions months ago. I just pulled out a 1cup measuring cup and panicked because i realize I've been eating 1.5 to 2 cup portions. And I'm not in pain when I do it. So I'm freaked out! Anyone know if I can shrink my pouch again? Most worried about it once I deliver. It's just I've been so hungry with this baby, she is definitely requesting more food. Or should I start reducing portions now? I know we aren't doctors here, just wondering if a…

Hello! I need advice. I have been a type 1 diabetic since I was 16 on insulin. Since my gastric sleeve last summer I haven't taken any insulin (crazy right). I'm 8 weeks pregnant and taking long acting insulin at night only to wake up at 48-70 blood sugars. And then having to treat them with sugar (makes me so sick). What in the world did i get myself into?! I found out i was pregnant 5months after my surgery. I wasnt too happy about it. I was just starting to enjoy my life again and then BOOM! I can honestly say I tried everything to avoid this happening. In November and December me and my husband we're going at it like rabbits. I was warned that this would happen. But I was having too much fun. The good thing was at continue to lose weight all the way until about 2 weeks ago. Then within a week I gained 6 pounds. I was flabbergasted. So I started that on my Fitness Pal to watch what I was eating. I lost 5 pounds in a week. I have not done any major exercising 6th February. I am c…

I had my surgery in January 30th 2015. Since then I've lost around 130. I just found out I am pregnant and somewhere around 4 weeks. I'm so excited. I have PCOS so I never thought this would happen. I'm also nervous. Any tips on being able to eat enough. I still can't eat a lot. Protein still fills me up so quick. I am doing some research prior to WLS. I went into my consultation thinking that RNY was the best surgery for me. My doctor did not have anything positive to say about it for someone my age and eagerness to have a family. I will be 29 next month and have no children. She stated that with the RYN, it would be very difficult to provide enough nutrients to have viable pregnancies. She also mentioned lifelong nutrient deficiencies. Has anyone had a doctor okay RNY at a young age and do you regret the more extreme surgery? Thanks in advance!

I have an 18-month old son and would like to have another child before getting sleeved. My husband and I had no issues conceiving the first go 'round due to well-managed PCOS, but this time we are probably going to turn to Clomid to assist in conceiving because I am not menstruating/ovulating on my own. Ideally I'll get pregnant this summer and have our second baby early next spring. I don't want to have the surgery first because I want our kids closer in age and am not willing to wait the recommended 18 months after surgery to get pregnant. How long should I wait after giving birth before pursuing the surgery? Is there anything I can do now, even before we conceive, to…

I just got a positive pregnancy test last night. I am just a week shy of being 6 months post op. I am terrified, and don't know where to begin. This is my first pregnancy ever. Very unexpected. I reached out to an obgyn & my surgeon. I have yet to hear back from either one. Am I supposed to be jumping on a prenatal right away? Do I quit my current Vitamins? do I take anything more? How should i be going about eating? More? add in carbs (i'm a very low carber)? Like I said I have no idea where to begin, and I don't want to jeopardize myself or the pregnancy anymore than I have already. Thanks.

Hello, I have my surgery one week from today. The reason I have decided to go ahead with a weight loss surgery is because for 8 years my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant. I have seen over 4 different doctors and I continued to hear the same answer. You need to lose weight.im not sure if this is the group I should be in as I haven't been pregnant nor had the surgery yet but it is because of the fact I wish to try after my procedure that I felt maybe this is the right group for me. I have loads of questions that,I'm hoping are relatable to what, this group is about. I look forward to hearing from you all thank you.

This pregnancy was absolutely not planned. I ovulated 5 days before I should have this past cycle. Prior to this cycle, my body was like clockwork. Anyway, that early ovulation resulted in me now being 5 weeks pregnant. I am scared. I still have about 40-50 lbs I want to lose and now I'm worried this pregnancy will derail everything. I was already having a hard enough time with slow weight loss. I am going to try my hardest to continue to eat well and stay active this pregnancy to minimize the weight gain as much as possible while still growing a healthy baby. Are there any ladies experienced with this? Were you able to keep weight gain down? Did you continue losing a…
