Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery

Hey everyone, well my lap band baby is 8 months and I gained about 35 lbs during pregnancy. I had a lil trouble after the baby with tightness but it got better after going on liquids for a couple of days. Now I feel like I've totally lost control and have gained an additional 15 lbs since giving birth. This is my third so fitting in workouts are basically impossible and squeezing them in at night is sometimes discouraging since I'm so off track. I can eat large portions and when I eat small portions I am hungry an hour later, if I eat the wrong things like bread I still pb. I am still nursing so I don't know if I should get a fill. I had my beautiful baby girl 4 weeks ago and am breastfeeding. I have been watching what I eat but have not lost any weight. I'm not sure what to expect with breastfeeding. I do not want to take in to few calories but I also would like to lose some weight gradually until i can start exercising. Anyone out there had a baby after sleeve and can shed some light or tips on starting weight loss while maintaining calories but breastfeeding?

Hello all, I just found out I am pregnant and scared! I was banded on jan 22 lost 50 lbs and here I am. Any advice? I have 4.5 cc in my band and doing Great. I'm due to see the doc in about 2 weeks. Should I go sooner to get the Fluid out or do I leave the fluid Soooo confused help

i cant believe it. i suffered from PCOS and havent gotten pregnant til now, the old fashion way without trying. i am down 140lbs. hopefully, i will remain healthy and continue being healthy with gaining a healthy amount of weight without blowing up. wish me luck!

Ok so I'm extremely bloated, constipated, have tons of gas, and my pouch is so tight it can be painful to consume food. My jeans hate me lol they are tight, no weight gain. I needed to talk to the doc about a laxative. I'm thinking going back to strictly liquid with my shakes mashed fruits and veggies. I feel huge yet no weight gain. Ok my due date had been revised. Which is no surprise because ALL my children measured small in the beginning. So I'm due March 10th instead of February 28th. But it will be an automatic c section because both previous babies were, that means I shave one week off of the due date. My weight gain has been 0 in 7 weeks since conception. My restriction is that of it right after surgery. I don't want to eat but force feed myself. Popsicles have been my best friends. Im going to visit my family for my 11 year old sisters birthday party. I want to tell my family then that im pregnant. I was going to give my parents a card with a sonogram it and then the rest of the family will know. But they will be suspicious on why im giving them a card too on my sisters bday. So I was thinking after I give my sister her gifts...I was then going to plan on saying "wait one more card"and have her open the card and its a aunt card and have her read it. I have PCOS and have been in the process of getting my insurance to approve my surgery. I haven't talked to my GYN about it because I haven't been to see him since my yearly exam. Should I call and let him know that I am having surgery soon? He didn't want to put me back on a birth control pill when I saw him last because of the PCOS.. But I wonder if he will since chances of pregnancy may increase... Any advice?

We found out yesterday that we are having a girl. I watched my husband light up. Daddy is in love! Our son is super excited to get to be a big brother to a girl. We are elated around here!!

Should someone who is breastfeeding have a partial or full unfill?

Today I was so hungry and could not get enough food in. Is this normal to feel so hungry like that? My portions are still 1/2 cup but about 10 mins after I ate I was really hungry again.

My hubby and I have been trying for almost a year. A few months ago we went to the specialist and was told I would need help as I had low ovarian reserve. So we were planning on starting artifical insemination but then my lap band slipped and ended up getting revised to the sleeve. Heard this surgery helps with fertility. I have one 12 yr old daughter from previous marriage. I'm 38 and my hubby is 40. Anyone have success with similiar situation?

I'm 26, and getting banded July 26th. I went and visited my ObGyn for a check up and she was not very welcoming to the news about my LapBand decision. She doesn't agree since I haven't had kids yet. Anyone out there who LapBand before having children? Also, how was the pregnancy with the LapBand? Any complications? Pain? Etc. My doctor made me really nervous today about my decision and I wanted to get other peoples opinions! Thank you!

Has anyone pregnant after sleeve had their restriction return towards very end of pregnancy? I am due August 24th (30 days) and I have noticed in the last week my food/drink restriction feels like its back. I am nervous because I have dropped 5 lbs. in the last week and should be gaining a pound a week until he is born.

sleeved 2/11/13. not planned but happy. 70lbs down and doing great. Some people are worried but i'm not. excited and making a plan to have the healthiest pregnancy!

Scared, excited, anxious are all not even close to the emotions I'm feeling. Lol. This baby is my miracle baby. My husband and I tried for 2.5 years after I had my tubes untied with no luck. We had given up hope of having one together. Well, God had other plans. He solidified those plans by making sure our babies due date is our 3rd wedding anniversary, which is March 19th. Our first ultrasound is scheduled for August 12th. I can't wait to see our little bean on the screen!!

So I've read through this entire forum and searched all over the web and can't find much info. But...I think may have actually been pregnant during my RNY. They did a test the day of the surgery that was negative. We had sex 3 days before my surgery so I'm wondering if maybe it was too soon to show positive the day of surgery. All the symptoms I've been having: nausea, smells, etc have been explained as normal rny healing process. I will be going to doc ASAP but until then does anybody have any experience with something like this???

Im due sept 14 2013 & im 32 weeks and 4 days and going to be pregnant all summer, im a year and a month post op so far ive gained 28lbs i work out reguarly but i dont eat to healthy an my appetite has increased tremendously i feel like im gaining to much weight i kno i need to eat more healthy but i crave the unhealthy foods any advice on a good diet an jus being pregnant in the summer?

Hi! I got sleeved in November 2012 and am getting married in November 2013. My fiance and I have been talking about having kids. For those of you who have been pregnant after being sleeved...did you find it difficult to eat enough? How was your weight loss after having the baby? How much did you gain in pregnancy? Just wondering, did anyone who had the sleeve have a Glucose Test done? Or what other options did your OB give you? I am not having that Glucose Test done because of the sleeve, so instead they have me doing weekly blood draws. What's everyone's experience?

My question for those who are already pregnant post sleeve, how is morning sickness for you? I feel very ill, but a lot of restriction even Fluid can hurt. I always feel worse after eating. My symptoms can be very different from my last pregnancies, nipples hurt no tender breasts but shooting pain in them, my veins aren't a deep deep blue, but definitely notice a difference. So i was sleeved last year 01/12/2012 i had lost 75lbs before i became pregnant before i could get pregnant after trying for two years , i was excited an nervous because i didnt kno how my stomach would react , but ive been taking my vitamins an extra iron an taking 30 min walks so far my baby an i are healthy thank god , my only concern is that i went from eating small small portions to eatin alot at one time like my stomach pouch grew ive gained 16lbs so far but i wanna kno is anyone else had this happen ?

For those who got pregnant after wls. How old were you when you had wls? How old were you when you got pregnant? My dr. Says I have plenty of time to have a baby but I don't feel like I do. Can you still lose weight if you get pregnant with the lap band?

I'm 2 years post surgery and pregnant with my 5th baby. I'm suffering from the WORST case of morning sickness I've ever had. With my previous pregnancies I was able to throw up and carry on with my day. This time I've got that constant car sick feeling all day and all night. I'm 10 weeks pregnant and not sure how much more I can take of this. Not that I really have a choice My Dr has me on 2 diclectin tablets 3 times a day and I feel like they aren't working. They are a slow release but I'm wondering if my stomach is absorbing them too quickly or not quick enough. I'm debating trying acupuncture. Has anyone else had severe morning sickness and what did you do?

My question is regarding women who have already had their baby while being sleeved. I was talking with a non-sleeved friend about her delivery. She had told me she didn't have food for over 24 hours. Personally I get sick if I go too long without food. So for moms who recently gave birth how was it during labor with not being able to eat ? What did you do?

I'm just wondering if anyone else is having problems postpartum. My son is going to be 2 months and I have been having lots of tightness and I can't eat anything it's really annoying anyone else with these symptoms?

I haven't been on this site in forever, so it's nice to be posting again. A little back story: I was banded in Jan 2011; starting weight for this journey was 278 and my lowest weight so far has been 165 (my goal; lasted about a day...lol). I was told by numerous dr's that my weight is the reason i'm not ovulating. I haven't had my period for over 6 months. I have been trying for a year now and I feel this surgery is the last resort. I'm doing it for my health and also would like to start a family. Im 31 and ready. Anyone one with this issue and gotten pregnant because of the surgery.

I didn't have any problems with my band at all when I was pregnant. But now I'm really struggling. I had a complete infill at 7mo and now I'm slowly getting fills again. I have gained 15lbs since giving birth!!! I gained 40 during pregnancy. I feel like j have to learn how to eat all over again. I get mild stucks constantly because I can't seem to remember the basics is eat slow and small bites. I was doing great with the band before pregnancy but now in doing horrible and I feel really discouraged

Hello all! I have a few questions. I just found out im prego (4 weeks along). I lost about 140 pounds in 14 months. My surgery date was 4/16/12. How did you keep up on eating. Sometimes I forget to eat all day. And were you considered high risk?

I am so excited! My surgeon just cleared me and my hubby to start trying to conceive! We tried for 3 years prior to my surgery with no sucess. I have a beautiful 6 year old son, but I always dreamed of having another. Hopefully with all this weight off my body and my healthier habits, we will be successful. Anyone else go through this? How long did it take for you to get pregnant? I am just so happy about the possibility that I could cry!!!

So I had RNY December 7, 2012 and all together (pre an post op) I have lost over 140 pounds. My recovery has been healthy and my labs have all come back good so far, but I just found out I am pregnant. I was hoping to be at least 12 months out, hubby and I were using protection but it looks like someone had other plans. I am waiting to go in for my ultrasound and a check up with my team, but I really wanted to get in touch with some people who are also pregnant post op or have been pregnant, so that I will have someone to make this seemingly lonely journey with.

I was curious how much weight gain is expected during pregnancy. I know everyone probably has different numbers I'm starting to plan for my little bean and curious how much most of you have gained. I'm 8 months post op and down 76 pounds bringing me to 182. I know in my heart i should probably wait till I get down some more but truthfully I can't get this thought out of my head. I just turned 9 months post-op and have lost a total of 112lbs...love it. My husband and I always wanted a family (im 22 hes 25) but we knew we would have problem. we have not been protecting ourselves before surgery and in 5 years nothing happened. Baby Ashley arrived Saturday June 15, 2013! Normal delivery without complications :-) Baby weighed 7.9 lbs 19 inches long. Healthy baby and mommy ! Pre-pregnancy I was 197 lbs and at time of delivery I was 216.. total of 19 lbs gained and as of this morning I am down to 204.. only 7 lbs to lose

Hello all... So I've just recently found out that I am pregnant! I have so many questions and concerns. I've already made an appointment with my surgeon for the end of July. (That was the earliest he could squeeze me in.) I wonder if it would matter what ob-gyn I chose? As in, does it matter what hospital they are affiliated with. Also.. what about Vitamins? I mean, do I need to take more than what I am already taking already? Help! lol

Hey everyone! I have a quick question. I've called around to a few stores and I'm having trouble finding prenatal chewable vitamins. I'm not pregnant, but I know that these vitamins have ALOT of the minerals/nutrients that women need. Has anyone seen them around? I've seen the gummies, but my doctor said to not take them because they don't have all the minerals in them as chewables do.

Is it just a coincidence that is seems like there are so many pregnant with twins post surgery. Is there a higher chance of twins post surgery

soooo..... needless to say I'm freaking out!!! just found out I'm pregnant and will be calling both my doctor to set up an appointment to confirm and my surgeon for information, but yikes! I've heard pregnancy is quite common after weight loss surgery, but I'm concerned about how soon after the surgery this is....has anyone been through this or have any information to share???

For those of you who have had the sleeve and are almost a year or further out and have delt with ovulation problems before weight loss, did you get pregnant easily or did it still take a while dealing with ovulation issues.
