When is the right time to try?

I'm 6 months post-op and not planning on trying anytime soon because I'm not at my goal yet, but when did your doctors tell you it was ok or safe to try to get pregnant? I plan on discussing this with my doctor but I'd also like to hear what your doctors told you. After my 1 year surgiversary I'd like to consider it but I'm not sure if that's too soon or what. So ladies, what do you think?

Mine said 2 yrs. i actually had to sign a paper saying we would not try to get pregnant for two years but that's no worries to me as i've had 2 and my husband is fixed.

My doctor told me I should weight atleast 2 yrs before thinking of a baby... He told this to everyone he told this to everyone.. Good luck in getting the correct anwser

My doc told me no earlier than 18 months but he also said that it would be best to wait until I was completely done losing weight and at goal for a while. ;)

It's 12-18 months recc. by the American Obstetrics Society and that's because you don't want to concieve during rapid weight loss phase as there could be nutrition issues, low birth weight, higher risk, etc.

You need to be at or close to your ideal weight and be stabilized and able to consume a reasonable amount of healthy calories a day-like 1600 or more...I know if I got preg. right now I would be dont for because I am taking in like, 500 a day a month out.

I'm in the beginning of the WLS journey and do t think ill get approved till like summer time. Have to do weight management etc. my doc said no babies for 2 years but I'm 38 -39 in September 2013 and my soon to be husband doesn't have any kids and we would like to have 1 . Any advice ?

@christy38... There's not really much advice we can give u because u really only have 2 choices you can wait and get the surgery at a later time once you have had the baby your husband n u desire... Or you can get the surgery and wait the 2 years... If you get the surgery I would get pregnant before the 2 years because its not safe for fetus as you can really eat and the baby won't get all there nutrients in

I was told 12-18 months by my doc's office, so that puts me somewhere between this February and August--which kind of works out perfectly for us...good luck!

My doctor suggested to wait at least 2yrs.
