Hi I'm Glenda, I lost 108 lbs on my own, then decided to have gastric bypass to get to my goal weight. I'm so glad to join this group. I'm 3 weeks post surgery down 29lbs. I have problems getting my water and food in. I get so full so quickly. I'm afraid I'm not getting the proper nutrition. My fear is my upcoming vacation I'm going to Costa Rica. I'll be 10 weeks post surgery then. Very apprehensive about how I'll manage my food. Help please.

  2. I recently found old pictures of myself from my 5th grade graduation ceremony and those from 8th grade. It was during that time when certain adult family members couldn't keep their disgusting hands to themselves. The pictures definitely reflected my pain. I gained 120 pounds in middle school and at the age of 14, I entered high school at 260 pounds! It makes me sad even typing this. I ate and ate hoping to gain weight so that I would no longer be a sexual target. Once it stopped, I still carried those bad eating behaviors with me. Years later as a young adult, through Christ I was able to let go and forgive those who hurt me. Life seemed to get better emotionally for me.…

I have to admit I'm very jealous of those of you who only had/have to wait only a couple months for your surgery. I'm really struggling with the fact that I have to wait through 7 months of supervised diet program before I can even get my surgery date. Is anyone else on here really early in their long ass process? This dieting is hard when you haven't had any medical help yet (surgery). I've lost 13lbs in my first two months...but that's been super hard. Do I even need to worry about losing weight at this point? The struggle is very hard and it just seems like it would be better not to even try to follow a strict deprivation diet until the actual surgery takes place and I…

However, for the past two days my weight has gone up a couple of pounds. My calories are below 800 calories a day, most days much less. Is yhis something to be concerned about?

I woke up this morning and realized: This will be the last holiday season I will allow myself to be single and invisible. By this time next year I will have blossomed into my true beautiful and healthy self instead of hiding behind all of this weight and shame. I am so excited for the adventure ahead. I pray it goes well. I know it will be a tough path, but that the rewards will be so worth it. Do you remember the day you knew your life was going to change for the better?

  12. Hi everyone, Got back from the cruise! I am 2 1/2 month post op. Let me start with the abundance of food was not the problem at all. I was never hungry. Nor did it bother me seeing others EAT!!! Since I was afraid of dumping or not tolerating the food I was basically eating tuna salad, cheeses, Soups, crackers, and my Premier Protein shake. Whenever my family and I dined in their specialty restaurants I would order Soup. Like I said I do hav issues chewing and tolerance of the food. I went thru NCL and I brought in 2 cases of Water and a case of my liquid Protein Shake. Always got off with my portable cooler that had water, tuna kits, shakes, and a banana. …

It just kind of rocked me and made me scared that I am never gonna be good enough! I'll loose the weight get the counseling, and still not feel okay bcuz of loose skin! It may sound dumb but it just left me feeling down hearted like there's always gonna be something I need to change! Any advice or skin stories or anything to get my pep and excitement back would be awesome!! Thanks in advance!

I was 3 weeks out yesterday and have done fairly well, but my sleeve is so picky I am running out of options for food and drink. I can't do plain water or any artificially sweetened drinks like Crystal Light. I've only been able to do Decaf iced tea and Syntrax Chocolate Truffle flavor for protein. For food I am lactose intolerant since surgery and can't even handle Lactaid milk. So no yogurt or cottage cheese or cream soups. The things I can handle are lunch meat, eggs, and baked potato. I can only take 2 oz at a time. I have tried tuna, chicken, and tilapia and get sick from those. It seems I'll have a really great day followed by a day sicker than a dog. Thanks for rea…

I have my first surgeon consult on Aug 4th to start the gastric sleeve process. I have been thinking about it for a couple years and finally got up the nerve to pursue it. My final straw was when I went to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO and rode a couple rides with my 7 year old son and I had to squeeze into them and I almost didn't fit. I was so embarrassed and all I could think about is how do I tell my son that we can't ride because I'm to big. Came home from that trip and explained to my husb…

I was cleared by my NUT today to eat whatever I want (within reason, of course) and it was great! My boyfriend (a chef) made us filet mignon with a mushroom sauce, garlic spinach and sweet potato. He was very cute and put about an ounce of steak, and about a half cup of each veg on my small plate, and I still couldn't eat half of it. But man, did it taste great! So much better to have real food after the last six weeks. And it will taste great for lunch tomorrow too!

  24. Just a quick post. I was back on this forum in its previous form back in 2009 when I had my VSG performed. I dropped from 325 to 215, sped up a bit by an abscess after my initial surgery that put me back in the hospital for four weeks. In the past five years, my health has been wonderful, but during the past 24 months my eating habits reverted back to my old habits of high-carbs, sweets and constant snacking, and as a result, I've gained back to 250 pounds. That was my wakeup call. I'm back here and starting the 5-day Pouch Test/ Reset to get myself back in order. I knew if I didn't do something, my life would be cut short. After about a year of deliberating, I finally decided on the sleeve. He genuinely cares about each and every patient. The nurses at hospital CMQ were outstanding. The care I received was top notch. Interacting with my co ordinator was also trouble free, because he answered any questions I had.
