  1. Started by need change,

5 days post-op. Still not getting in all my liquids but still trying. I never thought watching tv and walking would become boring. Today, I get to add itching. They say itching means healing. I'm glad I'm healing, but the itching is driving me nuts.

To most people "I'm not THAT big", and they're right I'm not compared to someone most. My mother doesn't think or understand why I am getting this done. I'm 5'2 225. I carry my weight well in my opinion and hers but I'm just tired of the struggle. Wish me luck.

My surgery day is right around the corner. I'm both nervous and excited. I'm nervous about all the cons I read about such as gas, hair loss, etc. I know its all temporary so it won't be too bad I'm sure. I'm excited because this is a kick start to a healthier and fit ME! I've had 4 children and I've struggled losing weight over the past few years. After researching WLS for 1 1/2 years I've opted to go with the sleeve rather than the lap band. I'm 5'2 and my HW was 237. My CW is 224. I've always been active but I wasn't able to drop the weight as easy from my last two pregnancies. My ultimate goal is to become a certified fitness instructor :-)

  5. Hello All, I just had surgery on Thursday 6/4/2015 and I very excited. I must admit that I woke up a ball of nerves because I was not sure I would wake up with regret(yes, I watched a lot of youtube videos lol). Fortunately, that is not the case. Today I had to cough and my word that was painful and uncomfortable. My sister keeps saying to grab a pillow it will absorb the shock, in the moment it really didn't feel that way. As for my Fluid intake, and I am still running behind on that. Though I made slushies out of the Isopure and that helped immensely. Today I will be on sipping duty, I will try my best to get everything or most everything down. We shall see how it goe…

  6. By this time tomorrow, I will be a sleeved woman. Scared, excited and still can't believe it. You think and plan and prepare and learn and then it's only a sunrise away. Changing your life for your health, your love, your contentment are the best reasons ever. For those who are still deciding, waiting for approvals, and planning for the future...it is worth it. You--we all--are worth it. Say prayers for me tomorrow as I finally will have a tool to help rid me of a lifetime of ridicule, low confidence, hiding my weight behind all sorts of metaphoric shadows, the prescriptions for Type II diabetes, it all can come to end. It's never too late...say a prayer for me and…

One month post op (surgery date 4/30/15): 1. Lost 25 lbs by week 3 post op. 2. Hit first stall - no loss in last week 3. I am never hungry! 4. Doc wants me to eat six small meals a day 60-80g Protein. This is a real chore! food is no longer enticing. 5. I seem to eat about 600 to 800 calories per day. 6. Getting Water in is extremely hard during busy workweek. 7. I have been super lethargic this last week. Would love to hear from others in this similar timeframe.

So it's been a little over a week since I was sleeved and well over two weeks since I started my full liquids diet. I started getting sick of Greek yogurts, popsicles, chocolate Protein shakes, and tomato Soup. All so sweet! So today I decided to make black bean soup! It's easy to puree, will provide protein, and will satisfy my savory craving. So I made the soup, and like any good home cook, I took a few (liquid) tastes throughout the process to check seasoning. Finally, the soup was finished. I took one last taste and the seasoning was spot on! I stared at the pureed result in my Ninja blender and realized... I was full! I still can't stop laughing at the ridiculousn…

I had my sleeve surgery on June 2nd and am on my way to becoming the person I've always dreamed of being finally after sixty years of being over weight. I'm not experiencing anything negative so far. Just a little discomfort while drinking water. It is so hard to learn not to gulp water. I am looking forward to being able to get out and enjoy my grandchildren ages 1 and 4 of which I'm not able to keep up with right now. Since signing up for sleeve surgery I've lost 47 lbs .

I am almost 3 years post op from gastric sleeve surgery. My surgery was 10/1/12. I was a slow loser from the start. When I was ready, I was working out 5-6x a week. I saw my surgeon and nut at required times. They thought my progress was great. I had my surgery in Bogota. I lost 53lbs pre/post op from Oct 2012 until July 2013. We moved back to the US and I gained about 7lbs. We were living in a hotel and I started a new job. We found out we were expecting a baby in Sept 2013. My weight loss slowed between July and August of 2013 leading up to pregnancy. I had a difficult pregnancy but gained weight just like I did in my pre-sleeve pregnancy. After my delivery in 201…

I have been on this journey for over a year and a half. I was set on having the sleeve but it turns out I have reflux, so I am taking my doctor's recommendation and having bypass. I was approved by Cigna last week and started my 2 week preop diet on Monday. Man, this liquid diet is tough when you still have a regular stomach! But, I suck it up and look forward to finally having my surgery on June 1st! I can't wait! I am so excited to restart my life. I have just been browsing the before and after photo threads and it is so amazing and encouraging to see everyone's progress.

I traveled to Miami, Florida with my mom and sister to have my gastric sleeve done by Dr. Michael Choi. Pennsylvania offers the weight loss surgery through some insurances (which is what my dad did) not only was he denied, he had to plead his case why the gastric sleeve would better his life. He had high BP, high cholesterol, and severe type 2 diabetes that he was diagnosed with 9 years ago. Finally, after almost 18 months of testing, meeting with numerous doctors and psychologists, March of 2014 he was finally approved for his gastric sleeve surgery. I h…

I'm on my 2 week liquid diet before my surgery on day 9. I'm so pleased! I was weighed yesterday, and I've lost 20 pounds! The liquid diet hasn't been as bad as I thought. At this point I avoid food, food related places, and food smells...okay I'm a hermit, but so worth it. My kids have stepped up and take turns fixing themselves supper while I take some me time. Afterwards, we sit on the couch and talk about our day. They are learning as I am learning that food is not the center of our lives. I can't wait for my new life and my surgery on June 3.

I am not sure if it is just really bad timing ( female troubles the day after surgery!) or if this is normal and I am just a baby when I comes to pain. I am having problems getting in all my fluids and protein. So far today I have only gotten in around 20 oz of fluids and less than 10 grams of protein. According to my food tracker I have only had 65 calories today!!!! This is crazy. I do feel better then I did yesterday though, so I guess that's positive. I was just recently sleeved by Dr. Pilcher in the San Antonio area. I had the procedure done on June 1st, which was also my 23rd birthday. Happy birthday to me! I can't speak to the amazing weight loss benefits yet because I only just had surgery and am still very swollen, but I do like how I have not felt any hunger, or desire to eat. I have struggled with my weight since I was 8 years old, when I was first put on a diet. At that age, I would successfully diet for about 2 weeks at a time and then start sneaking food around my mom. This became my lifestyle, stolen moments with candy, chips, ice cream, and all fried/fatty goodies. I always found great comfort in fo…

After a year of exploring this option, I'm finally scheduled to be sleeved in 2 weeks!! I'm a little nervous about the surgery itself as far as being put to sleep and the hospital stay but I'm more excited than anything to start seeing results . My highest weight was 256. Found out I am diabetic and was placed on some meds. I'm currently down to 249. I start my pre op diet on the 18th and really interested in seeing how much weight I lose that week. I'm an African American woman and curious about hair loss and loose skin as I know this is different for all of us? Also , I'm very interested in maybe finding a buddy who's having surgery the same day?? Thanks :-)
