My name is Laura.  I am a 54, will be 55 next week.  I found out about BariatricPal from a coworker who had VSG a year ago.  I am a nurse and work in a hospital that has a bariatric surgery program.  There are 4 employees in my department that have had VSG.  They are very happy with positive health and life changes that this surgery has afforded them.  As I have watched each of them lose weight and keep it off, I began to consider this as a life changing tool for me. 
 
My surgery was just approved by insurance after I completed 6 months of supervised diet and exercise.  My surgery date is August 25,2015.  I started preparing for my 2 week liquid diet by having protein shakes for breakfast and lunch with a low carb dinner.  I start my liquid diet on August 11th.  I will be on liquids as I turn 55 and I couldn't be happier!!  This is the best gift I can give myself!
