Hello. I've been lurking on the boards here for a couple months, but I finally registered and decided it was time to dive in. About me... I'm 34, female, married with dogs but no kids yet. I live about an hour outside of Philadelphia. I'm 5'2" and about 235 lbs. I was a little chubby from about the age of 8, then I kept myself at a "normal" weight through high school as a ballet dancer in a fairly high-pressure pre-professional dance company. When I went to college, I gained the "Freshman 15" and fluctuated up and down and up again through graduation. In the years after college, I would gain weight, lose 10, 20, maybe 30 pounds (most successfully with Weight Watchers),…

1 month post op well will be on the 23rd. I just got back from seeing my Dr. And she was disappointed in me. ???????? I lost 9lbs for a total of 23 post op 33 since the pre-op diet and all together since starting this process 50lbs. I'm so sad right now. She asked me why I didn't get the DS and every time I go in she asks me this. It was a mix up on their end not mine. Ultimately I don't believe that God makes mistakes. And the surgery is done what is the point in asking me this over and over .. As she was talking my happy mood turned to a discouraged mood. She made it seem like I was doomed for failure and a 9lb weight loss in 2 weeks is unacceptable. She put me back on…

I started my surgery journey in December with my first weigh in with my GP. I have had all the required test done seemed like it was never ending but worth it. Now I go this next Thursday for my final GP weigh in yea! My office has already scheduled a date for July 7th. I'm praying nothing goes wrong with my approval. I have to do a two week liquid diet before hand. Some fears of failure have been bothering me lately I want this so much but have the what if I don't lose weight. Has anyone else felt this way pre surgery?

Hey guys I'm new here but I was sleeved on 5/13/15 and will start phase two full liquids tomorrow but feel like such an emotional wreck. I getting the what did I do feeling. Wife has been trying to help comfort but still it's just weird as a guy who never really cried before to start crying because you feel hungry but not actually hungry. I guess I'm just having a hard time taking it one moment at a time. I was 340 at heaviest two weeks prior to sleeve 318 on morning of vsg and 310 now. I know this is great but I'm still struggling. Just putting my honest self out there.

Hi I'm new to all of this so I am hoping others who have gone before me can provide some advice. I was wondering if anyone out there has had there gastric sleeve completed with Dr. Louisiana Valenzuela, Mexico Bariatric Center? I am from Canada, have never had surgery outside of the country and I am scared as heck to take the leap. Does anyone have some advice they would like to share?

The hardest part is all of the trapped gas from the surgery. The broth doesn't smell or taste good. I have been able to keep some water and Popsicles down. So far I have lost 7 pounds in 2 days. I am just hoping the pain disapates within the next few days.

Just started the journey. Had my meeting with the surgeon, nutritionist and completed the psych eval today. My BMI is low (36.8), and am being treated for diabetes. My overall health is the main motivator for me, but I am hoping it will help reduce my daily migraines. So far, everything is going well for me. Will be on a supervised 4-month nutritional program before I can have surgery, as required by insurance. Here we go!

Also I don't really feel hungry as I used too, I now know that I am hungry when I feel anxious, is it only me? Am I a weirdo? Hi Everyone....I'm so excited to make my first post! I started to seriously think about WLS 6 months ago and thats when I found this site. I used to come on here and look for the answers to the questions I had in my head mainly should I, shouldn't I and is it safe. I found all your stories good and bad extremely helpful and motivating so I want to say thank you for all the honest opinions and those who take time out to give help and advice. I had a my lap band surgery on the 18th April and luckily everything went smooth. The hospital where I had my surgery were professional, informative and caring they really impressed me and made me feel safe as well as looked after …

I travel quite a bit for work (33 times last year) and when I had my band would find it really hard to stay in the game when traveling. It's so much harder (I feel like) when you don't know the area you are in, deal with a late flight so grocery shopping is not an option and at the hotel might not have a refrigerator. One idea I had was to pack my 1 pound Oster blender in my suitcase with pre portioned protein. What are ways, tips and tricks you stay on point when traveling?

Hi! My name is Loree Drawbaugh and I had my sleeves bypass surgery on April 24, 2014, a year ago! I have lost total 70 pounds plus. After three months, I found out that I got pregnant and was pretty nervous because my husband and I did try before I went on for surgery and it's a surprised! I went through the whole process and did not GAIN any pounds until I gave birth on March 20 ,2015 to a beautiful daughter Sophie Ann as we have two boys - AJ 6 years old and Jakie 4 years old. So, now I'm working on getting back on the track to lose more weight but for some reasons, I'm stuck and starting to go into old habits. Right before weight loss surgery, I was supposed to hav…

I have had a great experience at McGee. Everyone has been super supportive and helpful. I really like Dr. McCloskey, she is very confident in her work and cares about her patients.

Hello everyone. My name is Vicki and I'm 43. I live in NC. I have been trying to lose weight for years. Last year I walked 2 miles almost every day. I never lost much weight which in turned made me go through depression. I saw my family doc and started taking a diet pill. I lost 10 pounds in a week. Yay for me. The pill made my heart race and I had to remember to take it everyday. Then my doctor told me about weight loss surgery. I have been doing my research. I am a perfect candidate. I still haven't decided on the way to go. I would love to have your input. Please if you will, share with me your story. Thank you in advance.

Now that surgery is getting closer 5/18/15 I'm really wondering so many things. While the pull of being thin, not wearing size 16 curvy plus size jeans is appealing to me. I've decided it's like getting pregnant... it's a life change, and there are so many unknowns, that you just don't know until it happens. (what kind of mom, how will I sleep, what kind of kid.....) I get it I don't have as much to lose as many of you, which is why there are some of these questions.... started research at 189 pre-op down to 184 BMI 33.5 and I'm 5'2". Curvy- carry the weight everywhere -- 42- 38 - 42 6" wrist - size 6.5 shoes.... I do have questions... that I don't think I can …

Hello, I've been on her for a few months but haven't really posted much but have read a whole lot. My surgery date is this Thursday May 20th. I'll be getting the gastric sleeve revision. I got banded October 2012 & had little success. Lost about 25#'s initially & then nothing more. I struggled with the band & never truly was able find the 'green spot'. I ended up getting to tight & had a good portion of the saline taken out. My surgeon's 'bedside manner' was horrible & I did not want to go back but I did. I ended up talking to a new younger surgeon & he told me I HAD to stay with the other asshat surgeon. I refused. I continued to st…

I know this is a mind game. Surgery tomorrow. 5/18/2015 I feel like I'm "failing myself" by having surgery. I also feel this way every time I lose 5 pounds and gain 10. I'm excited, I'm ready to move on, one more "try to do it myself" isn't going to make a difference it will just push back surgery. I know that in my heart. Never has why now? Did anyone else feel this way the day before surgery?

I had my surgery on 8-20-14.ive had my ups and downs, but it was the best decision I've ever made. I didn't realize how much of my confidence I didn't have. I feel amazing! I have a ton of energy. A year ago, I would have never walked into a gym...now it's a daily thing. I also didn't realize how poisonous my relationship was until I started doing better for myself. I was told I was selfish and I look horrible when I lost weight. Let's just say, I ended that after 5 years of abuse and having food shoved in my face because he wanted me to be fat, so no one else would be interested in me. I encourage anyone to do this surgery. I use to look at it as a cheating way out.. B…

Sorry I haven't been able to post lately but I read all post and everyone seems to be doing great... Surgery 9/19...down 53 lbs...started at size 20-22 down to a 12-13! I am loving my new look and life. I would love to find a work out partner in the Fort Worth area if anyone is interested. I joined Planet Fitness in north side Fort Worth ($10 a month) and think I would have better motivation if I had a friend with the same goals as me to work out with. Call me if interested 817-223-6241.

Hello, I had my RNY March 24, 2015 and have been getting along without any problems. I've lost 88 lbs.total with 51 lbs. coming off before surgery. I decided after my group meeting November 6th, 204 that I would start eating like I was supposed to after my surgery and that's how I lost the 51 lbs. I hope to gain and give a lot of help and information joining this group, especially on meal plans It's 2 months since surgery now and I'm just a little anxious on starting raw vegetables, I haven't had any dumping or vomiting and this next step to me is a little scary.

Today is my one year surgiversary. I am so glad that I made the decision to save my own life by losing weight. At the beginning of the process, WLS was not part of my plan. (I had gone through the whole pre-op testing process five years before and then backed out of having the lap band.) I started dieting in Jan. 2014, lost weight steadily for a few months, and began to enjoy the improvements to my health and appearance. I decided that I didn't want this to be just another diet, where I lose weight only to find it again within a few weeks or months. I then talked to my PCP and he suggested that bariatric surgery might help me with maintenance. Within three months of tha…

After years of partying and always being the jolly fat lad, I decided after a harsh relationship break down to take stock of my life. I seem to have spent the majority of my adult life on a diet losing a little bit here and there but thing major and I would always end up pilling the weight back on plus a bit more. I am not unhealthy I was in the gym 3-4 times a week an playing rugby but nothing seemed to move the weight. I got injured playing rugby and had to stop playing an weight just spiralled out of control. it all came to a head in the summer of 2014 I was 31 years old and out of breath walking up the stairs at home and work. I grew bored of making excuses as to wh…

Hello all. I am just about 6 weeks post op. My target was around 90 pounds (or rather I should say the doc "expected me to lose" 90 pounds within a year) I have been very strict with the diet and drinking lots of Water and I am down almost 40 pounds in 6 weeks. Did anyone else start fast and slow down? I know it will eventually level off but I cannot help but think if I am 45% to that goal, that I may far supass it at this rate. I have better photos but not avaliable at the moment. Anything you can share from your expierence would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

I'm 7 weeks out. My surgery was March 25th. I've lost 23 pounds so far. Those pounds came off in the first 3-4 weeks. I thought it would be so much more by now but hey atleast its 23 pounds lost and not gained. I've had zero complications so far. No nausea/vomiting. No dumping syndrome (unfortunately, I find it easy to eat sweets). I'm struggling with everything they've told me to do. I find it nearly impossible to take 30 minutes to eat a very small amount of food. I've tried to slow it down but its impossible to even enjoy at that slow of a pace. It's really just not that much food. I'm getting my liquids in. Probably not as much Protein as I should. I'm g…

Thank you to everyone who shares about their stalls and how they work through it! This month weight has either gone up a bit then back down then stayed the same. Thanks to all my reading on here and after checking my food/exercise patterns I can be grateful for what I have achieved so far. It's so important right now for me to focus on the NSVs such as wearing a medium top and size 9/10 pants, completing my 2nd 5k, cutting almost 6 minutes off my 5k time, etc. Staying in positivity and gratitude!!!
