Is it normal to have diarrhea daily 8 weeks out post gastric sleeve? Seems like when I eat red meat or chicken I get it. Chicken is moist and shredded. Anything related to fluid intake?

I had my surgery on May 7th. When I awoke here's what happened. 1. I was soooooo sleepy. 2. My throat hurt 3. I wasn't hungry 4. I didn't walk 5. I had no problem getting up and down to the 6. Took pain meds 3 times 7. Lots of baby sips of Water which kind of hurt if the sips were too big. My orders were 15cc/ 15 minutes. I would drink half wait a minute then drink the other half Day 2 1. I had slight pain in my left shoulder, when I spoke with the nurse she reminded me that while I was in surgery they filled me up with gas! The only way to get rid of it was to walk (duh) so off I went! And I honestly felt sooooo good! 2. I was not hungry again 3. I walked…

I will like to share my experience after 9 months because now I'm closer to my goal, but first of all because I know I made the best decision ever, it's not just how I look, but how I feel inside, I'm a healthier and happier person now, I have improved my relationship with family and friends. My self esteem was in the ground, therefore I wasn't too friendly, now people like to be close to me, and it's only been 9 months like a I said, Im doing all kinds of outdoor activities, I'm going to the gym, I have a new wonderful wardrobe, I'm dating, I love myself more than ever.... and everything started like this…I tried all kind of diets and diet pills before going to surgery, …

Hello, all! I originally signed up on this website a couple of years ago prior to my Lap-Band surgery, but I'll be darned if I can remember any of my login info! That's alright, I don't think I was super active anyway, so I figured I'd just start fresh. Like I said, a couple of years ago I had the Lap Band put in. Initially I was fairly successful - lost slowly, but eventually was able to lose about 40 lbs over the course of a year. Then for some reason, I stalled. It was as if I needed another fill in my band, but so much food was getting "stuck" on my band that another fill didn't seem the best course, either. I started to throw up a lot of my food, to the point whe…

I am scheduled for my surgery in 2 days-I have a high BMI- 53. I won't make excuses but the two week meal replacement diet went horrible I was not able to adhere. I procrastinated quitting smoking even though I am not a heavy smoker... one or two a day plus vaping.. I'm now using 2 mg nicotine lozenges sporadically. now I'm 3 days out on a clear liquid diet which I am tolerating so far. Has anyone else gone through this...I'm very worried because I haven't done what I was supposed to but I am so ready to get this done and on with living healthier! Any thought or input would be appreciated.

Hello BariBrothers, BariSisters, BariFamilies, and general lovers of healthy, good food. My name is Smye and I live on a small farm in the Pacific Northwest. WHO IS SMYE? I've always been a big guy. I hit 100 pounds when I was 4-years-old, was 200 pounds before I turned 10, and was bumping 300 on my 13th birthday. I grew up in a fast-food home, 2 of every 3 meals were eaten in the car and I continued to 'grow.' After college I decided to turn my life around (despite hating the clichéd phrase) and started my farm with the goal of raising 80% of my own calories. Over the course of a year, my partner and I started a large garden, built a green house and started raising du…

I am new to the forum, and just had a quick question, as at my six month checkup, I felt, for the first time, as if I had done something wrong. I am a by the book, numbers, write it down, everywhere and everything person. I have kept my profile on MyFitnessPal, my "guide book" given at my first seminar, and have now filled three huge binders of my own notes and journals, as I want to make sure no stone is unturned. I didn't see my normal surgeon, as he was away that day, but the dietician (who was all of 12, brand new when I started coming the second time...the first two times there were insurance red tape even down to the hour before surgery...that is a rant for anot…

Hi, everyone, I just joined this forum and I'm so encouraged by everyone here! I'm having my sleeve on Wednesday the 20th, in Portland Oregon. Anyone else on that date?

Hi everyone! My name is Krista I am 35 and am actually 5 weeks post op tomorrow. I was sleeved on April 13th, 2015. On surgery day I weighed 346lbs. At my 2.5 week visit with my Doctor I had lost 25 lbs. Then another 5. The last 2 weeks I have only lost 3 lbs each week but I am reading about the Week 3 Stall and feeling better. I am learning a lot about myself and my vices. My biggest challenges are eating slowly and sipping. I used to LOVE Water...now, it's like swallowing a rock. I don't like the flavored mixes you put in water so I am just sad about my loss of water. It gets a bit better each week but I am jealous of people that can drink more. I have dropped 2 si…

I had my lap band in 2008. It was in place for 8 months. Put a hole in my stomach. Had emergency surgery to have it removed and hole repaired. Lost 110 pounds on my own. My niece has lap band in 2009. Came loose, went up under her heart and stopped it! No visible weight loss for her. My advice....find another way.

Hi friends. I contact you because I am actually very scared because I had my VSG procedure done on Monday the 11th and by Wednesday the 13th the doctor thought I was draining too much (my drain tube had to be emptied 3 times during the day @ 80 cc per time) plus I had tachycardia and my red globes had gone below 9. I was in the OR again by Wednesday, they opened up my ports and saw that some bleeding had happened. Couldn't find the actual spot but they re-sutured the port that seemed to have had the problem and off I go again. I was supposed to return to my husband and kids today and here I am in another city paying 3 extra days in a hotel and a blood transfusion perfor…

Hi everyone! My name is Heather. I live in East Central Minnesota. I am married to my high school sweetheart of 18 years now. I have two boys, 15 and 8. I work full time as a licensed practical nurse and go to college part time to become a registered nurse. Like many of you, I have been overweight the majority of my life. I was teased in school, and often as an adult I hear disparaging comments. I have been considering gastric surgery for the past 10 years. I looked into it again after I saw a patient having great success, and I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I am 5'4" and weigh 255 lbs. This is the heaviest I have been. I have done all of the diets with some temporary …

Hello I had my surgery on Feb 26 and I have lost 61 lbs so far. I had no trouble during or after my surgery. I've been following the diet but I did cheat and had some chips and pizza not much but I deserve a treat here and there. I make sure I'm pretty close or over the amount of protein I need daily. Any suggestions on high protein snacks??? How many calories a day do you consume?? I try to stay under 800 I hope everyone is well!!!

What if I'm in pain for months post-op What if I find a loop hole and my addiction comes creeping in and I don't lose anything. What if I feel empty and scared. Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears. ~ Les Brown Surgery date: 5/21/15

Pre-op I was probably using 30 artificial sweetener packets per day. I put that stuff on everything. Sweetener is approved in my plan, but I know that it doesn't me an extreme indulgence like that. I have cut it back to only six a day. I make 1/2 gallon of decaf tea every day and use my sweeteners for that. I don't put it on all my other food anymore .. Boy oh boy what a vice it was. But, I was wondering what others are doing for sweetener: honey, agave, Stevia, nothing? What is your take on sweeteners?

I've always been big - a jock. Played football and my weight never kept me from doing anything I wanted to do. At 55 I suddenly developed Type II diabetes and started taking insulin. That changed my whole life for the worse. Although the insulin kept my sugar under control I started gaining weight - a pound or two a month. Over 7 years that added up to 150 pounds. I developed diabetic ulcers on my calves which the doctors said were not caused by my sugar levels but by the Water I was retaining. My legs actually dripped water on the floor. They proceeded to wrap my legs like a race horse and they are still that way 18 months later. Slightly painful but tremendousl…

So we have a scale at work-which I just discovered. It's a community scale for anyone to use. I just weight myself and I came in at 237.8lbs....now I'm a little hesitant to believe this due to me getting weight at the doctors office and I was 248lbs less than a week ago. This doesn't make sense. I have been working out but lately not eating well. I haven't had the surgery yet and I'm skeptical to trust this in fear of getting my hopes up just to be crushed...... Also, I'm starting to question wither I should have the surgery or not. Everyone keeps telling me it's the "easy way out", but they have No idea.....idk I'm just a bundle of mixed emotions. Sorry

I had my gastric sleeve surgery on May 4th with Dr. Jesus Lopez. I am proud to say have lost 13lbs just after 11 days. The BariatricPal team was absolutely amazing! They made my husband and i feel at complete and total ease our entire stay. We had someone by our side 24/7 to care for me, and to entertain my husband for the complete 8 days we chose to stay. The biggest decision of our lives was made so easy with this company. I just called David, whom set up everything through emails, when we arrived our driver, Robert picked us up to take us to our destinations, on arrival there was an interpreter Miguel, to help us comunicate easily. After we left the hospital to…

Had my surgery on 4/27/15. Everything went well with the procedure, but I am having a lot of pain. I was suppose to go home the next day on 4/28/15, however due to the pain I've been asking to stay longer. The nurses keep saying I'm experiencing gas pain, which is common. However it's pain from my incision's along with the gas. After 3 days my doctor finally increased my medication dosage. Prayerfully the pain subsides dramatically for me to feel comfortable going home. Has anyone else experience extensive pain and had to stay at the hospital 2-3 extra days? I'm feel like the only one still at the hospital, when my procedure was on Monday ????. Things like coughing, …

My weight loss journey started years ago as I have been obese most of my life. In 2009 I was diagnosed with diabetes along with other health conditions that was only making my life miserable and preventing me from enjoying what life has to offer. So, I decided to look into Weight Loss Surgery (WLS). With topping the scales at 400 lbs. and wearing a size 46-48 paints I decided to have WLS. On August 5, 2009 I went into surgery and had the LapBand placed. I did enjoy weight loss and somewhat of a better life. However, since the day I had WLS I suffered from the side effects of the LapBand and it did cause some issues but I was thankful and happy for the weight loss achieved…

Hello all. I am new to this so please bear with me. My name is Beau and I am a Paramedic in Illinois. I am overweight and have been my entire adult life. I have recently decided to take my life back and get the sleeve gastrectomy. I am still in the very early stages as I have just gotten my referral from my Dr. to see the surgeon. I still have a lot to do including going to the weight loss seminar, labs, endoscopy, and of course I still have to find out if my insurance will cover it. I have BCBS so I am hoping it will as my BMI is over 40 and I have at least 2 comorbidities. I have never been a member of a forum before so it kind of feels strange telling strangers about m…

Hello there, I've just discovered this friendly community. Tomorrow is 6 months since I had GBP, how time flies. I'm down 89 lbs from my highest, 55 since surgery. Life has taken some interesting turns, maximizing stress. I don't think I'm getting enough protein or exercise, something I'm trying to work on. I hope to regain muscle and hair. I'm glad I had surgery, it was for lifelong health reasons. I'm just frustrated with myself for major life events interrupting my progress. My husband of 22 yrs lost over 200lbs on his own, just diet and exercise, he helped inspire me to take control of my life. We've been hit with probably the hardest times of our lives, making it dif…

It seems as if this surgery has just snuck up on me! Today I am on a clear liquid diet per surgeons orders up until 4 PM when there's the lovely bowel prep with the magnesium citrate. And then they said I'd be allowed to have Water up until 6:30AM but I plan on being asleep at that time! I check in at 10:30! I have lost more than 15 pounds on the two week pre-op diet but must admit that yesterday I had two mango margaritas (I mean I JUST turned 21). Anybody else getting their bypass tomorrow? I'd LOVE to be able to encourage one another!

After struggling with keeping the weight off for years - I finally decided to have lap band surgery in 2013. I knew I didn't want a bypass and my insurance did not cover a sleeve (if they had I may have chose it). Anyway, it went very quickly. I went to the seminar on May 5th, Approval on May 15th, and surgery day was June 17th, 2013. I was 198 pounds the day of my surgery with a BMI of 40.3. My surgeon said everything went great - no Fluid in my band at that time - my recovery went well. I went home and lost 13 pounds before my first follow up appt which was 2 weeks post op. He said I was doing great and would get my first fill at 4 weeks post op. My first fill was 3 cc'…

Today's View is being brought to you by the letter "A". There will be a temporary interruption of your normally scheduled programming for the following, unpaid testimonial. ~~~ Hello. I am in the process of getting approval for Gastric Bypass, the surgery that my surgeon has recommended due to Acid Reflux. My goal for surgery is August 2015, as that is the only month of the year when I could possibly be out from my work without it being a major catastrophe. I am still working out coverage and all of the insurance hurdles. One step at a time. The view today from my room is one of angst. a. What am I doing? b. Do I believe that I can get to the mental state that I…

I am not sure if my profile is still active, I'll have to go back and check. I used to belong to lapbandtalk.com which I beleive ws rolled into here. My surgery was 2008 and it was hugely successful. I went from 270 down to my goal weight of 195 in a year. My wife with the full bypass went from 300 to 160 where she has been for about 8 years. We were featured as successful examples in a commercial for our local hospital. I was feeling so good I rekindled my love of running and finally finished the lifetime goal of a marathon in 2011. Shortly after that my back began to fail and my weight went up a little, but still way below that former high. I eventually need…
