  1. Started by xoxo,

Had my surgery on 10/11/2016 ( November,10th). On the day of surgery I weighed 133kgs (293lbs, 20.9st). A few hours after the surgery, I was extremely tired and I tried drinking Water...Jesus! I vomitted like I was about to die! I could hardly sip anything for two days. Two or three sips and I was so done! Once I got home (November,12th) my mum made me some nice chicken broth and I took my time with it and it went down just fine. From that point on, I've been fine. No issues with recovery thus far. I have not had to take any pain medication whatsoever and this was the case since the hospital. I haven't weighed myself as I feel bloated and I have not moved my bowe…

I have been heavy my whole adult life. I have dieted and gained as you do but nothing stuck. Thanks to back to back surgeries (bunions/hammertoes - both feet and a new knee) in less than a year my mobility has been stagnant due to pain because of my weight. I decided it was time. I had told myself I wasn't going to do this unless I promised myself I would follow through to the end (plastic surgery upon completion). I asked my PCP to refer me for bariatric surgery. I had thought about it off and on for a very long time but was never a candidate. Oh I had the BMI covered but no co-morbidities. Lately I have added high blood pressure and severe obstructive sleep apnea. So …

  3. Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. I've been learning about the Lap-Band and it's positives, along with it's negatives. I'm beginning to see the benefits outweighing the risks and I'm thinking it could be an amazing tool for me to have on my weight loss journey. I currently weigh at least 100 lbs above a healthy weight and have never been a thin adult. I've already seen personal successes of others in my life, and now, I believe, it's my turn. Still, I have some reservations and I'm not 100% sure-I'm probably around 60% convinced right now. I just went to an info session @ NYU in NY city and learned a little bit more. I'll be checking out the forums and learning …

I need some help! My story goes...lost 59% of excess weight...255 down to 170...at 6 month post op checkup. A month later surprise I'm pregnant!! Only gained 16 lbs and had a wonderfully healthy sweet baby boy (child #3!) . I am now 18 months post op and weigh 167. I picked up bad eating habits due to nausea. I am now trying to get back on track to lose my last 27 lbs and need a jump start. Any suggestions or support you can provide would be most appreciated!!!! Thanks !!

I am 24 and have struggled with my weight all my life. In 2013 I started the process to have the gastric bypass and realized at that moment in my life I was not ready. In December of 2015 I was in a car accident that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. When I went to the hospital I was told my blood pressure was so high I was stroke risk and I needed to be treated immediately. After lots of doctors appointments, being told I'm a type 2 diabetic, and pricking myself with needles a few times a day I decided I was done. I wanted to live. My weight made me hate myself. Although I have not had the operation yet, this journey has already changed me. When I look in the m…

I'm new here, so glad I found this forum. I've been excited and looking forward to my surgery scheduled for November 11th...until today. I'm really emotional and having a melt down. I've had several surgeries, so that's not the issue. Just hearing and reading post op horror stories. Family and friends are concerned, of course that this is a drastic move to lose weight. I need to lose about 75-80 lbs that I've been battling with for almost 10 years now. I'm over it! I'm trying to read as much as I can and watch YouTube videos about VSG to educate myself and feel confident that this is the best decision for me. I love success stories and the before and after pictures are a…

First day wasn't too bad. Just one of the areas near an incision is sensitive to touch. Just the T-shirt flowing across the area. Can't say I'm big on pain killers, but have been taking a bit just not the full dose. Spoke with the nurse and she said that was a good compromise. The painkiller leaves me thirsty and feeling dehydrated.

Good morning all! I am having my RNY on 11/28. I started the pre op diet yesterday and I'm doing ok. A little headachy and a bit sluggish, but I've been reassured in a few days I'll feel pretty good. I'm both excited and nervous regarding the surgery. I know it's the right thing to do especially since I have health issues I was born with. My surgery is obviously right around the holidays and I'm wondering how others have dealt with the holidays since having the surgery and ALL the questions. At times I struggle with wondering what the holidays will be like now compared to what they've been in the past. I know the surgery is the right thing to do and I will get th…

Hello, I am very upset, because I am 7 weeks post op from gastric bypass. I lost a lot of weight on the liquid fast pre-op diet and post op diet. For the past 2 weeks I have plateu'd . I haven't gained but I'm not losing. I'm trying to increase my exercise, but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how to break this and kind of re-set. I'm very worried.

Hello everyone As I write this I am one month and three days post op. I've been doing some reading here on and off before surgery and since, and decided to join up and say hello. It took me years to get here. I have been overweight most of my life. I would have done this sooner, but we (my wife and I) had two friends who died from this surgery. It took us a while to get past that, but we did, and I started the process back in June. I lost about 65 lbs on the pre op diet, and struggled with the notion of going through with the surgery or just doing it the old fashioned way. But as the doc reminded me, it isn't the losing that is hard for a lot of us, it is the …

Hi! I'm super excited to use this app, and kind of wish I'd downloaded it sooner . I am currently four and a half months post rny gastric bypass surgery. I always feel awkward writing about myself so apologize in advance if this is a rambling introduction that is difficult to follow. Since I'm not sure where to start, I think I will begin before surgery (kind of makes sense for a timeline) Before I had surgery, I heard so many mixed views about the results of weight loss surgery, some really amazing and some absolutely horrible, so I was very unsure what kind of results I would see. I live in a smaller town, which of course means gossip travels fast, and since everyone …

There was a glimour of hope that i chased for 3 years but that glimmer faded away after my last doctor appt on Friday. That story is long and I'm willing to share if anyone is interested but since this is a bariateic group, I will stick to that for now. I'm 33 years old, 5 foot 9, and current weight is 328. My goal is roughly 150 lbs of weight loss. My ultimate goal is to always range between 145 pound and 175. That is the healthiest weight I carried in my younger years and looked and felt great. …

I dealt with quite a bit of nausea until about 3 days ago it seemed to have subsided. I began realizing that hot foods/drinks work better for my sleeve. It seems like every time I drink or eat something cold the nausea comes back. However it's only been 3 weeks for me today and I am down 31 pounds. I am 56 years old and been overweight since I was 8. Sure I have lost weight plenty of times, but it never stays off. Eventually that nibble of cheese in the evening becomes a plate full of cheese and crackers or that couple of squares of chocolate becomes a whole bar ... or two. Been walking, using my incentive spirometer and asking for pain meds. It's been improving but super slow over the hours. After my nap it improved but then I walked and when I had to take deep Breaths it hurt all over again. The hospital staff and docs have been amazing, I'm happy for my new life.
