HW 281 CW 254 SW ___ H 5' 8.5" Tomorrow is the day! Super pumped and no nerves yet. I started my process on 10/22/15 by attending and informational session. Almost didn't continue with the process because my BMI is on the 40 border and thought I'd be "punished" for losing weight prior to surgery and would no longer qualify. Lesson learned; always ask questions!!! I started on a 1,600 calories a day diet for the next six months per my insurance requirements. I have lost 27 lbs. so far! I am hoping to be down to 250 for surgery. I have been on a mostly liquid diet this past week. My doctor said because I've lost more than double the ask that my daily pre-op diet c…

I started my pre-surgery diet this morning which means I am officially 2 weeks away from my RNY surgery. I'm having the surgery primarily to help/correct my gastroparesis but am hoping for big weight loss too. I was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome type III earlier this year which is how I also ended up with gastroparesis and after being misdiagnosed and ignored by doctors for 24 years I'm still trying to figure out my new diagnosis. But last year I met a very nice surgeon that told me I could get some relief from my gastroparesis and lose the weight by having the RNY. So I started my journey to get approved and a surgery date. Well, 3 days ago I met with the surgeo…

I had surgery on June 13 (4.5 months out) and my weight loss has been so slow. I do a cardio kickboxing class three times a week and some days I walk. I get around 800 - 900 calories per day and about 80 - 90g Protein and 40 -45 carbs. What is a typical day of food for you? Do you have any suggestions? Please be respectful to everyone in the discussion. SW 227 CW 181 Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I had my surgery on october 27th, i know it's been less than a week. but i seriously can't handle these gas pains. it's hard for me to drink liquids, i get sharp gas pains with every sip. i also haven't had a bowel movement since the 26th. my surgeon keeps telling me to walk and the gas pains will subside. but it doesn't seem to be helping. i'm at the point of regret and misery. i wish i never did this to myself. is there anything i can do to help this ? I got sleeved on 2-22-16. Like most of u i had major health issues. I was fortunate enough to have a family who supported my decision to sell our home and downsize. My husband never complained and allowed me to spend as much needed to get mamma healthy. I sold my house moved my kids out of the best school district into the worst in San Antonio. I follow my diet to a T. I refuse to be a bad statistic. I dedicate my progression to my family and my children. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App

I'm a 44 yr old mother of 3. I was sleeved on 10/19/16. Pre op weight was 388 and im now two weeks post op and 370. I can't help but feel dissapointed. I feel like HOW is my fat surviving on this restricted diet??? Am I in freakn starvation mode????? And I was very hungry 24 hrs post 6and able to eat a bowl of browth and drink with no prob. Idk where that "2 spoon fulls and im stuffed" sensation is but I missed it. I do however get full from my Protein shakes thank God. It's like eat slow..loose fast is what I was expecting but it turned out to be a much slower pace Sent from my LG-H631 using the BariatricPal App

So I am officially 131 days post-op and I am down 70 pounds with only 20 more to go. I would be lying if I said it had been easy but I completely love my sleeve now. For the first month I was convinced I had ruined my life but now I appreciate how healthy I am and how slim I am looking! I really do miss being able to sit and eat huge meals but the sight of a lot of food makes me feel very sick... even now. My hunger is returning but in a different way, I'm only hungry for healthy things now and spend my entire time eating vegetables- fruit makes me sick. I encourage people to have the surgery but I am 18 and will admit to you all now that I was too young to undergo suc…

I was paralyzed in an accident 5 years ago, I am still paralyzed, durining the 5 years weight crept on and made my life even more difficult. I decided to do the bariatric sleeve. I looked at hospitals in Thailand, Mexico and India. Mexico was closest so I picked Mexico. I wish I went with India. Mexico had me scheduled out of hospital within 24 hrs, India asked me to stay 10 (same price). They gave me a link with super basic food info. Said I can take any meds I want. I am scrambling to find out when I should be feeling (my left side is in pain and I am suffering severe orthostatic hypotension) the team here in Mexico just seemed to want me out out out. I paid for an extr…

Well here goes. I started on the journey around 2 years ago. The NHS make you jump through hoops to qualify for an op. Followed all the rules and finally went in on the 14th Oct 16. Under the knife around 08.30 and conscious sometime after 17.00 the same day. The first 24 hours was uncomfortable to say the least however that soon passed. Day two was basically a sip Water day over and over and over again. As the day wore on the sickness became less and I was able to keep it all down. Sunday and I'm up and out of bed. Managed a few trips up and down the ward. Monday and it was time to go home. Lot of instructions, lots of guidance and lots of help offered if I needed it. I…

Hey. I wanted to meet some new people who has went on this journey as well and maybe have a support group because God knows I need one. I had the surgery 3 years ago, the most I lost was 80 something lbs. I have gained weight back. I'm not sure what I weigh now, but depression and just a horrible look on life is back. I did get pregnant and gained some back then, and now I'm back in my dark hole where I was before. I go back to see my surgeon on the 17th. I am starting my diet that I was on right after surgery and hoping that sparks up something and my body is like oh yeah that's what we are suppose to be doing. Idk. I am ready to try this again, and I'm so ready to…

So I had my final appointment today with my surgeon. I'm scheduled for surgery Monday. I have a mixture of feelings. Ready, scared, excited, anxious, happy, sad. It's alot to handle. I'm so ready to be healthier. I'm ready to be a better more active mom that can get on the floor and play with the kids or can go down the water slide when we go to the water park. I'm so tired of my husband getting all those moments and memories and me just sitting and watching cuz my weight is holding me back. I'm so ready to be a better wife cuz my weight isn't controlling my self image. I've done so much to get ready for this. I've lost almost 30 pounds already. And I can already tell I'…

Hello this is me... The one always hiding behind someone in pictures. The one always taking pictures but not wanting to be in the frame. The one not liking the reflection in the mirror. The one with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, pre diabetes , TMJ and living in constant pain. Always up in weight and rarely down. I've tried it all, HCG, phentermine, topamax, Belviq, Jenny, Seattle, Medifast,WW just to name a few, nothing worked for long. This new normal of yo-yo dieting weight loss then more gain was not normal to me. So,I'm taking my life back in 3 days. I Will be in the pictures and no longer afraid of how it turns out. I will be healthy, and not live in pain.…

I don't really have that many supporters my mom os not a fond of weight-loss surgery so she constantly says unpleasing things about it and my children know I have seven children my oldest is 16 and my youngest is seven there cool with it and my niece who is 24 my mom who knows haven't mentioned one word to me or asked me if there are things she can help me with or anything like that I think the deciding to have this surgery depends on u and what ur comfortable and secure with because if you need support in order to make this surgery OK then a lot of people wouldn't be getting it I think it comes down to who you are as a person. I guess I'm an occasional lurker. I had surgery almost 6 months ago on May 4th. The first month was really hard but once I got back on solid foods I haven't had any problems. My initial start weight at consultation was 270 pounds. Day of surgery I was about 248. Today I am at 185 pounds a total loss of 85 pounds! I think the weight loss has finally slowed down a bit since I haven't lost anything for about 3 weeks or so. I am enjoying the new ways I eat. I eat a lot of Protein as suggested by the doctor. I haven't had any problems eating anything. Right now chicken, fish, and turkey are the main things I eat with a vegetable side. Still working hard to get dow…

I finally had my surgery after a minor setback involving a necrotic gallbladder two days before my scheduled surgery date. I am day two post op and preparing to go home later this evening. The hardest party as been the gas pains and gurgling in my esophagus and stomach. I was informed this is normal and its hair trying to escape the small space that is my new stomach. I have been very sleeping today since I have pushed myself to walk more then required. It honestly feels better to get up and moving. I know this is going to be a long road to recovery( 6 weeks off work at minimum). Any other September sleeves out there that want to start a group? Sent from my …

Last nite I asked DH to take the ac unit out of the kitchen window cuz it was chilly in the house. After a bit of grumbling he enlisted our darling son to assist him. There was a small amount of manly noises, 'it slipping!' and growling from both of them while they accomplished the task. Therein lies the problem. My version of accomplishing the task vs. their version. Now this ac unit is a snowbird and lives in the back shed for the winter. Hi All, I just had my surgery 1 week and 1 day ago. I've been in quite a bit of pain and I'm quite depressed. I hear that this is perfectly normal, but I haven't seen anyone on this site mention it. I haven't had in solid food since October 4 and wont have any for another 3 weeks. I think it's strange that someone would say this is the easy way out, instead of losing weight the traditional way. This is honestly the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I'm sorry if I'm scaring anyone, because that is certainly not my intention, Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me?

I really don't remember a point in my life where I started gaining weight. I was always bigger with the sentence "she'll grow out of this chubby phase soon" whispered above my head. Getting into high school I remember having to look for a desk that I could fit into easily, problem was, some classrooms only had older desks and I was left with my gut taking up most of my table. You would think I would do something, recognize that this wasn't okay. But I was confident, and very social, I had earned a fantastic network of friends. But just friends. I made it to 18 before I had anything close to a real boyfriend. I didn't feel like I deserved more then just one night of a gu…

I just came from my 1 week post-op appointment. All is good. Down to 266 lbs (on Drs scale). I was able to start mushy food today and enjoyed a little bowl of scrambled eggs for breakfast. After 3 weeks of liquids - the eggs were exceptional! We went grocery shopping after the Drs and just walking through the store wiped me out. Going to try some refried Beans in a little bit. I am doing great with fluids - not so great with Protein. Ordering some GENEPRO to help with meeting protein goals. Hope all the October Sleevers are doing well!

Hi, What does the insurance company look for when you have sleep apnea as a co-morbidity? I'm thinking about ordering a sleep test hoping to have a positive test being that I have most of the symptoms already. But, I didn't want to pay $300. Can I order a CPAP without a prescription? My name's Tiffanie I am 7 days post op today. I had a hard time during my pre surgery weight. I have 3 conditions chronic hives, hypothyroid and pcos. During my pre surgery stage I actually gained 20 lbs due to all the meds and steroid from my hives they had me on. I could not lose a lb to save me at all. I ended up getting approved for my surgery and I've been doing great already down 20lbs. I was walking 5 miles in the hospital and drinking my Protein match the day after surgery I also had a really bad hitel hernia surgery. So my recover takes a bit longer to swallow my foods and Water. Hi everyone! I had the lap band in 2015 and thought I would be completely different within a year. I initially started to lose weight but even at the beginning felt like I shouldn't be able to eat as much as I could. I was constantly hungry and felt like I was starving all the time. I had several adjustments and even got to the max allowement then had to have it drained because I couldn't even drink Water.. It was aweful! My heaviest weight was 289.7 and I didn't even realize it! I seen a picture of myself and had no idea who that person was. I am 5'8 and have always been told that I'm curvy and look "good" so it never occurred to me that I was actually that big sin…

Well just one more day till I start my preop diet and I must say I'm scared and excited at the same time. Tomorrow I will weigh and post my measurements. Kinda curious if I gained any weight in the past few weeks cause I have been eating any and everything that I know I won't have ever again. I'm paying for my surgery because my insurance doesn't cover any weight surgeries. I feel like I owe this to myself I have spent my whole life taking care of others now it's time to take care of my self. I have struggled with my weight since I was in middle school. My journey started all the way back in the summer of 2015. I have been overweight and/or "morbidly obese" almost all of my adult life, and no matter what I did, the numbers on the scale crept up and up. I have PCOS and insulin resistance, both of which make it extremely difficult to lose weight. Then I noticed my cousin on facebook - she had lost tons of weight in a rather short time. I asked her what her secret was and she confided that she had had WLS. I started checking around, got in touch with the doctor that my insurance covered, etc. Did seven months of supervised diet, jumped through hoops and everything, and then I finally got my approval letter. This procedure w…

Hey all my name is Melissa and I am 20 days post op. I was sleeved on 10/5/16. I started my journey to the surgery 3 years ago. I went to two surgeons did the whole work up and chickened out. This time it was different. I am older and my daughter asked me can I lose weight to go on a bike ride with her. I knew I needed to do something. I am only 20 days post op but the sleeve literally saved my life. I am a nurse and I am amazing at ignoring all of my symptoms. I was excited when in April I went to my current surgeon and he was like really high BMI with no Comorbidities. They just wanted me to start on the work ups and try to lose weight. I neglected to tell th…
