  1. Started by PLEZ,

I had gastric sleeve surgery on September 13th 2016. With almost 10 days out from surgery I am feeling great I am going to be starting my full liquid diet tomorrow and have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow within the first week I have noticed a significant reduction in hunger pains as well as the mental preoccupation with food. The pain is getting better and I am walking as much as I can. I find that I get tired quite frequently. I do crave solid food from time to time but I have also noticed that these Cravings have significantly decreased in duration. I am so happy I made this decision and look forward to connecting to and meeting new people on these forums…

So I'm just over a year from my surgery day. And just under 2 years from when I made the decision to make a life change. In October of 2014 I attended my first class about bariatric surgery. This class is the initial class that helps you decide if it is for you or not.(or to at least go on to the next step) That first day my weight was 422, and I decided to go forward with the bypass. I had to then wait to be assigned to a class, a class that lasts 12 weeks. It tought me everything about the surgery and new life I would be expecting. This class began in January of 2015. Well after completion in March I had lost about 10lbs to 412. Then came the long waiting period. O…

I haven't told any of my family (Bit scared).I have diabetes, cholesterol, HT,Hyperthyroidism and of course Obesity. I use to be on oral hyperglycemic meds but had to be changed to insulin. At that stage my GP offered to forward a referral for bariatric procedure to the hospital that does these procedures. I was so sure it would be declined but alas! They sent me invite to attend. long story short I went thrice to this hospital and on the third time I'm on the list. I had to go for scope where they found a hiatus he…

One yr out next week and lately I have a few episodes of acid reflux. Not sure why since I don't recall eating anything spicy or drinking anything that contains a lot of caffeine at the time of these episodes and I've been taking my ometrazol just wondering have anyone else experience such and what you noticed may have caused it and what you may do that helps.

  6. Thirteen years ago, bariatric angel Kristin S. waited with me in the hospital room the day of my bariatric surgery: August 27, 2003. Hello Everyone, I'm on day 5 of the horrid pre-op diet. My removal of my lap band-turned to gastric bypass is on 9/28 at NYU with Dr. Bradley Schwack. I'd love any support I can get. I guess my biggest fear is that I won't lose the weight, though my close friend lost 190 pounds in 18 months! He is my inspiration. I'm looking for a good resource to tell me how to eat and what to eat to keep losing weight, once I'm done with the 20 days post op diets. Kind regards.

Has it really been two years? In some ways it seems to have flown by, but in other ways it seems so much longer than that! On this day two years ago, I weighed 236 pounds. Down from my starting weight of 260. I met with the nutritionist at OCC and she told me my goal weight should be 165 based on my answers to about a million questions, my starting weight, how much I'd been able to lose in the past, etc. Not only did I reach that goal right around the one year mark, but I have now been maintaining at or below it for a full year! When I decided to have WLS, I thought of it as "weight maintenance surgery" rather than "weight loss surgery", because I really didn't need h…

From the beginning I never really felt that much restriction. I went on to loose only about 40 lbs and my previous bulimia eating disorder flare up. When I would make my self throw up I noticed how much it was and thought......wow my stomach should be way smaller then that! So with the eating disorder I shyed away from my surgeon because I didn't want to hear the same old thing about the damage that can be done from an eating disorder and so on. So fast forward to march of this year, I have to little…

I started looking into this 15 months ago. I'm lucky to live by Lake Norman, NC where Dr. Heider is. I went to his seminar and was convinced. I was 25 then (just turned 27 a month ago) and worried about being too young. But his staff is great and put me at ease. From there was getting started with the Lake Norman SWL center, and then 6 months documented diet with my pcp. February '16 all the paperwork was sent in, of course insurance denied it. The center was great, and fought it for me. In July, I was finally approved after 13 months. Surgery was scheduled for 9/15. All the pre-op went well, I managed to not cheat my diet at all, and my center is liquid only Optifas…

I've finally read up on some lawsuits for that manufacturer & found some info! My wbc has been high for almost "8" yrs! Feeling bad, low grade fever & major fatigue which comes along with a high wbc bc your body's fighting off an infection but NOBODY can seem to find the source not even an oncologist that I've been to several times!? I had my consultation appointment last month and found out my insurance would cover the sleeve procedure for me. Yeah me. My lowest weight in the last 15 years was 198...for about 5 minutes. I usually bounce between 225 and 250. I seem to be able to follow any program and lose, but gain it back. I hear of so many people dying in their sixties and I don't want to be one of them, so here I am! My next appointment will be with the weight loss psychologist.
